Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Sam's pov:
Jessica and I stood outside Jack's room, waiting patiently for the doctor to come out and tell us what happened to Jack! The wait was really killing us.
I lowered my head, rethinking about Jack's words about Olivia. Those words haunted me. The severity of what Jack had said was immense and it could hurt a lot of people. I was so confused! How did we land up in such a situation?
I placed my hand on my forehead and just as I was beginning to get lost into my thoughts, I heard the door lock click. I came back to the real world and stood up straight in front of the doctor.
The doctor dressed in a matte blue shirt with a white coat worn over it, slowly came out of Jack's room while quietly closing the door behind him.
"Dr..." I did not know the doctor's name as he was not Jack's usual doctor.
The reason why Jack's usual doctor did not arrive was as so... After alerting the clinic to send Jack's doctor, Jessica got a call from someone from the same clinic minutes later saying that as Jack's personal doctor was on a sudden leave, he wouldn't make it and that a replacement doctor would be sent instead.
The doctor turned around to face me, "Dr. Liam! You can call me Liam" he informed.
"How is Jack, doctor?" Jessica enquired with a concerned look on her face.
Jessica's deep concern for Jack radiated through her voice even though she tried to keep her face as firm as possible. It clearly was not working.
We were both eager to know how Jack was, so we kept looking at the doctor anxiously, desperately awaiting a reply.
"He's fine now, but I would need to talk to you guys downstairs! It would be horrible if our talks would wake him up!" he whispered while he gestured for us to keep our voices low.
We nodded and proceeded to walk downstairs. Frankly, hearing that Jack was ok relieved the both of us even though the doctor had a huge look of concern on his face. We were so confused! What happened to Jack that the doctor was so concerned about him? I was nervous about everything at that point.
We reached the living room downstairs. The two of us sat on the couch on the left side of the coffee table while the doctor sat on the couch to the right of the table. The atmosphere of the room was very tensed up with Jessica and I anxious about Jack's health condition!
"Jack is stable for now but I have to say that after looking at the reports from his previous doctor, I can see that Jack has not yet fully recovered from his past traumas! They have not been treated or cured a hundred per cent!" Dr. Liam stated this while flipping over Jack's reports.
Jessica and I were both in shock as we thought that his condition improved over the years.
"But how is that possible? I've seen Jack improve and he has become a lot happier and productive as compared to what condition he was in, months after his parent's accident." I could not believe that this doctor is saying that all the years of treatment was a waste. I just could not come to terms that all the doctor visits, all the therapy sessions over the years did not help him fully! I thought we improved Jack fully!
"Yes, Doctor! I too have seen the gradual changes in him. He was without a doubt becoming better! And I believe he really is better!" Jessica pitched in, supporting me.
Since both of us were becoming a bit hyper, the doctor immediately told us to calm down to prevent Jack from waking up.
"Well, he may have improved BUT the situation regarding Olivia and you guys have caused those 'improvements' to undo themselves. It affected him a lot!" the doctor brought this point across to counter view our statements.
I pushed myself back on the couch and I could not bring myself to accept what the doctor was saying.
"What do you propose we should do now? Please tell us!" Jessica asked while trying to calm herself down.
Dr. Liam took his glasses off and advised, "As of now, we need to keep Jack stress free! He needs to have his mind calm......and that would unfortunately mean listening to his demands"
After listening to what he said, my eyes popped, and my jaw dropped to the floor.
I could not believe what was going on right now. Jack demanded to push Olivia away and now if I don't do it, Jack might do harm to himself.
I looked at Jessica who too looked extremely shocked by this situation.
I never liked to be put in such positions where I have to decide between people. It's the most messed up thing in the world!
I was lost in my thoughts, trying to find ways to get all of us out of this situation.
"That's the only way we can keep Jack stable until we are able to treat him." Dr. Liam added.
I looked at him with concerned eyes.
"If you're still not able to listen to his demands, you could call the police to get this issue sorted out as he did blackmail you and this situation could escalate to something very dark and ugly!" he added.
I looked up at the doctor with an even more shocked face. I can't let anything wrong to happen to anyone! I couldn't decide what to do at all!
Olivia's pov:
I stepped out of the shower feeling nice and refreshed. I tied my soaking wet hair in my towel and put on my comfy bathrobe while sliding my feet into my soft slippers. As I walked towards my bed, I saw the night sky from my window, it looked so mesmerizing with the twinkling stars! We never had a sky filled with stars back home.
I started to realize how home sick I was feeling. I sighed and sat on my chair near the coffee table. Oh, how I missed my family!
I revisited a few memories and got a bit emotional. I'm a family type of girl and this was the first time I spent days without them. Even though it was a couple of days, it felt like eternity for me.
I thought to call them and check on them as I didn't get a chance to call them before and I had yet to inform them about my Australia trip.
I took my phone and immediately dialed my mother's number. I placed the phone on my ears with a huge smile on my face awaiting her to pick up. I couldn't wait to hear her sweet melodious voice again. It always used to calm me down whenever I was stressed or upset.
"The person who you are trying to reach is currently not available! Please try again later." I heard a few seconds later.
That's weird! She never misses a call from me. My smile immediately turned upside down. But I didn't give up.
I could just call my brother and sisters. It wasn't such a big deal so one by one I started to call them.
"The person who you are trying to reach is currently not available! Please try again later." I heard for all of the calls.
At this point I was feeling very disturbed. Everyone not picking up my call at the same time was something that never used to happen.
I tried to dumb it down to them gone on a outing to a mall or something. I tried to relax myself, but I was still wondering why no one picked up the call.
Just as I was about to doze off on the chair, I got up suddenly to a phone call. I first thought it was someone from my family, but I was left disappointed to the unknown phone number displayed on my phone.
I picked up the call out of curiosity and was left shocked and confused when I heard the word 'police'. Why would they call me?
