Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Olivia's pov:
I was slightly confused as to why Sam had cut the call. I started to wonder why he did that but when I could not think of any reason, I pushed it off thinking he might be busy or accidentally cut it.
I'm an impatient person so I thought of trying to call him once more so if he picks up then great and if he cuts it again, then I can call him later. I was hoping that the former would happen.
I dialed his number again in hopes that he would pick up but again the call got cut and everything went silent.
I had a confused look on my face, wondering what if something happened. Cutting my call twice would indicate many different reasons, some worse than the other.
After being lost in my thoughts for a few seconds, I decided to put my phone down to relax and watch some tv shows to just kind of keep me distracted. As thinking made me think of the worst possible outcomes like what if Sam was in an accident and someone stole his phone or something. I take things to the extreme a lot for some reason.
As soon as I turned the television on, my phone started ringing with my very cringey ringtone as someone was calling me.
I quickly went to check my phone and realized that the caller was none other than Sam. I was so happy that he reverted so much so that a huge smile formed on my face and I picked up the call without even wasting a second.
"Hey Sam!" I greeted in a very shy voice.
I did not know why I was talking that way, I normally didn't! Trust me! What happens is that I get impatient and cannot wait to talk with him but then when I do, my introvert side takes over. It was so annoying.
At that point, a few seconds later, I realized that the weird feeling in me started arising again. What is wrong with me?
"Hey Olivia, sorry I could not answer your calls. I was very busy." I heard Sam say this in a very low sad voice.
I ignored that weird tone in his voice and continued, "Oh I wanted to ask you about the timings for the collab today. I can be there at your house at about 4-"
He interrupted me in very low, almost frantic voice, "Oh um, I don't think today's a great day to film the collab! Maybe next time? I hope you understand"
I was kind of confused to hear him say that. He sounded so excited the previous day for the collab, so what happened all of a sudden?
My happiness faded away, I was so excited to meet him but then after some time, I understood that somethings happen and there is always a change in plans, so I did not question him about his decision.
"No problem! You can text me whenever you are free. Are you ok? Your voice sounds very different." I asked with a concerned voice.
"Yes, I'm f-fine. I'll talk to you later!" he replied before hanging up on me.
"Wow that was a bit weird" I thought to myself while scratching my head.
I did not want to think much about it since I always think of the worse!
So, I put my phone on the table and proceeded to relax on the bed and continued to watch some shows as today was a free day anyways. Not going to lie, I felt awfully sad that I was not going to meet Sam the whole day.
Jack's pov:
I was at my favorite café which was not that close to home. It was around a 10–15-minute walk. So, it was very convenient to get there whenever I wanted.
I usually come to the café to clear my mind and get some fresh air while drinking some delicious "almond latte" along with eating a mouthwatering chocolate gooey lava cake.
I sat in my usual table which was on the sidewalk near the road. I loved open cafés, they were nice and airy as compared to a closed one where I felt suffocated most of the time.
"Sam has changed! From cutting my calls to raising his voice to abandoning me! He was my best friend who took care of me and supported me when my parents died in an accident years ago!" I released my bottled-up frustrations to myself.
I rubbed my eyes; I could not think properly. Everything was such a mess. To distract my mind, I began drinking my latte and stuffing the cake in my mouth.
"Damn would you slow down? You going to choke yourself!" I lifted my head which was drowned into the plate that now had nothing, but chocolate sauce scattered around to see a black woman with long shiny hair wearing a business suit and high black heels.
I slowly lowered my spoon and kept it on the plate while she sat down on the chair near me. I was so confused because I had no idea who she was and why was she here!
"If you are angry at Sam, that does not mean that you gotta choke yourself!" she stated while giving me a daring look. I was so shocked; how did she know about Sam? I felt a little weird around her.
"You do not need to be surprised or worried. You were speaking so loudly that I heard everything." She added with her eyebrows raised.
"Listen I-" I tried to say something.
"You have some issues with your friend?" She interrupted me.
I just stared blankly at her face after she asked that question.
"Listen I may be a stranger, but I may be able to help you with your problems, hun."
she added so boldly like she knew everything about me.
I lowered my head, remembering all the things Sam did to me. And without any thinking, I went ahead and told her everything! I told her about Sam yelling at me for Olivia's mistakes, him breaking his promise and him just flat out ignoring me.
I did not know why I shared all of this with a stranger, but I felt good letting these things out to someone, I felt nice talking to her.
She nodded her head, "How close of a friend is he to you? Childhood one?"
"Yes! He is a pretty longtime friend!" I murmured.
"H-he pretty much supported and cared for me when he was 19 and I was 17. My parents had died in an accident and I had no other family or place to go. I was breaking as well but Sam gave me shelter in his home (where I still hang out a lot) and we both started working on our YouTube channels. He never left my side even when he found out that his parents took their own life. We were both poor, but we supported each other. And seeing him acting like this now is so shocking to me!"
I let all this out of my chest to this stranger.
"Im so sorry to hear that!" that woman lowered her head.
"My other best friend Jessica too stuck by me in the past. She even helped to cure my trauma of my past. It's still evident in my life but she and Sam are trying their best to get rid of the trauma but to see them acting so differently with me all of a sudden hurt a lot!" I added
"After hearing everything you said, I realized that the denominator of all your problems is.........Olivia!" She added with a firm voice.
Her face was so blank like there was no emotion in her whatsoever.
"But she is my frien-" I tried to complete my sentence, but she gave me a gesture to keep quiet.
"Stop! Who is your priority? Do you want Sam and Jessica to be your friends again or Olivia?" she questioned.
"I think the answer is pretty clear, don't you think?" she added while narrowing her eyebrows.
I recalled all the memories of Sam, Jessica and Olivia that I had with them and it was very clear that I can't lose Sam and Jessica!"
"I-I think..." I replied.
"Get rid of Olivia, Jack! Before she gets rid of you from Sam and Jessica!" she cut me short me again while looking straight into my eyes.
She wore her sunglasses and got up from her chair.
"Listen to what I told you!" she ordered before leaving.
I just sat there blank, trying to make sense of what that woman just told me.
Sam's pov:
I was walking frantically across the house since the time I got up, wondering where Jack had gone.
After returning home from the hotel late last night, he avoided talking to me and Jessica and now he suddenly disappeared. I was so worried about him.
"Sam, I told you! Jack had left the house immediately after he woke up to refresh his mind!" Jessica who was standing in a corner yelled at me to try and make me calm down.
I ignored her and continued stress walking around the living room trying to make sense about everything that was going on.
"You know how Jack is, he takes time to process all these things!" she yelled again, trying her best to calm me down but it didn't work.
Suddenly, I heard the doorbell and I immediately marched towards the door hoping it was Jack.
I approached the door with a huge smile on my face. Jessica too was pretty excited to see Jack again.
However, after opening the door, my smile disappeared in an instance.
I just stood there shocked with my eyes popped.
