Chapter 51: Chapter 51

LI

Without thinking, I just bolt up and begin to sprint from him, because there's no way that that's happening.

"Hey! Come back here!" Axel bolts up behind me and in a few seconds he's dangerously close to me. In panic, I frantically look around the kitchen, and get an idea. I open the fridge and take out the cream.

By now, Axel's in front of me, so I quickly take the lid off and spray the cream in his face. He stops moving, his hands frozen half way up to his face, and his mouth is open wide in shock.

The cream slowly moves down his face until it eventually falls to the ground and we both look down at it. The white stain is quite visible on the blue tiles, but it'll be easily cleaned off.

Axel looks at me and tries to make himself look angry, but it's really obvious that he's holding back a grin. He looks really cute doing that, and I can't help but giggle at him.

"You think this is funny?" he says lowly and I nod quickly. "Mhm.".

He shakes his head and goes to grab me, but I squirt the cream in his face again.

"That's it." he growls and wipes his face and snatches the cream, spraying it all over my face and chest. "Mmm, you look yummy." he purrs and I lunge for him, growling.

"Axel, you got it in my hair! You know how long that'll take to wash off!?"

He heartedly laughs at me and picks me up, not fazed by my attempt to bring him down.

"Put me down!" I squeal when be throws me over his shoulder.

"Nope. You're gonna clean me off first."

Great. He's going to the bathroom and I'm on my period.

I start smacking his bum because it's literally in front of my face."Put me down, Axel!"

He laughs again and smacks my bum, hanging on his shoulder.

"You didn't put the cream down, I'm not putting you down." he says, and it's final. We didn't actually need a lot of time to clean ourselves up, especially because neither of us really cares about the way our hair looks; Axel has given up on controlling his locks a long time ago, and I have given up because there is so much hair on my head that I would need two days to straighten it. And my hair gets greasy after three days, so there really isn't a point to it. It's quite straight anyway, thank God.

So now, we were in his livingroom, Axel was sitting and my head was rested on his thighs, while I was reading out loud. This time, it was Agatha Christie's turn and her novel And then there were none. I have never read this one before and I was loving it, with the exeption of Axel ruining every plottwist for me and then giggling like a schoolgirl when I got mad at him and swat his chest.

However, we were interrupted when his phone began ringing. He picked it up and immediately groaned when he heard the voice. "What do you want? Yes, she's here. Yes, she's were willingly." he rolls his eyes. "Amber, for fuck's sake, just tell me why you called and piss off." He is quiet, listening to her reply and he frowns. "No, no fucking way I'm taking here there. What- No, you shut the fuck up and listen to me. I don't fucking want her to meet them." He groans. "Yes, I know they're my fucking family. I cry over that fucking fact every night." he hisses, closes his eyes and deeply exhales. "Okay, fine, we'll be there but this is the only fucking time that we go there." at that, he hangs up and almost throws the phone, but stops himself.

"What's wrong?" I ask and lift myself up from his thighs.

He huffs. "My great fucking sister decided to organize a family dinner tonight."

I wait for him to give me more information. "So?"

"So, we have to go and introduce you with my lovely aunt and uncle." he gives me a fake smile and I sigh.

"I'm sure they aren't so bad-"

At that, he huffs and stands up from the couch. "You don't fucking know them, Soph. They're hypocrites and they fucking hate me because-"

He stops himself and I lift my brow, but he simply shakes his head and goes away, towards the door. "I just need to cool off a bit, be ready by 7 pm."

With that, he exits the house and slams the door. I frown. What was that? Fear slowly starts seeping in through my pores. Does he have another secret? Surely, it can't be as bad as the gang one, right?

Right?

I stand up and considering that it was already 6, I decided to just go and start getting ready.

I put on my dark jeans and my favourite white blouse, not too much, just enough so that I don't look like I don't care. Then, I put on mascara and actually braid my hair for the first time in forever; two french braids on each side. By the time I'm done, it's 15 to 7, and I'm getting slightly worried. I thought we was just going to smoke a cigarette, but he's taking too long.

In ten minutes, he thankfully comes back, though. He looks a bit pale and a bit shaken, and it makes me wonder why he is like that. Sending a quick prayer to God that he doesn't have another surprise for me, I walk up to him and put my hands on his shoulders.

"Are you okay?" I ask, with a soft voice and he nods, taking my hand.

He investigates it in his fingers, and breathes out. "Yeah, just- promise me that whatever you might hear, you will let me explain, okay?"

I frown. "Why? Is there something I should know?"

He gulps and doesn't say anything, just shakes his head.

"Come, let's go."

And we leave the house, my nerves feeling like they will explode any moment now.
