Kate and Mrs. Patterson bonded more catching up on the days she spent away from home.

She told her about the city life and her former job though she didn't have much to tell but her Mom didn't mind smiling at the smallest information.

Initially, she wanted to knit clothes for her unborn grandchild but changed her mind after learning of the luxury Alvin had prepared for him. Her little gift won't be able to compare to it.

Then she told her about her dad which had Kate upset yelling at the top of her voice. Alvin ran downstairs in a panic.

" Kate, are you okay? What's the matter? C'mon let's go inside" he persuaded leading her upstairs while her mother sighs in frustration. She wasn't comfortable with the way Kate hated her father. Louis didn't want to know his name either.

Alvin poured Kate a glass of energy drink cupping her cheeks.

" Are you okay? What happened? She took his hands on hers stroking it then smiled wryly.

" It's nothing. Mom said something that I wasn't expecting I guess the mood swings kicked in. I'm good" she stated as he pulled her into a hug stroking her back.

" Don't do that again, please. It's not good for the baby" she raised her head staring at him. His only concern is for the baby and not her. Who was she kidding, thinking she could make him fall in love with her again.

' what? Why are you staring at me like that? Kate made a clueless hum then realized she must have stared at him for long.

' nothing. I want to lie down" she muttered fixing the pillow properly then lay down on it while he pulled a quilt over her.

" Of course. I'll be outside if you need me" he pecked her then left the room to check on old friends.

Kate was better by the time she woke up then began to search for a particular someone. She was getting pissed with the constant search for him but she went anyway and met him at the garage changing the car tires.

" You could have called for an engineer or a mechanic" she spoke as he stood up seemly shy she caught him.

" I am almost done. Are you hungry? Wanna go shopping? It's New year's Eve Kate" she rubbed her neck staring at the bulging muscles beneath his blue singlet.

" We'll do that later," she said nervously looking for anything to distract herself. She wondered what was happening to her. It wasn't like her then she saw a hose and some brushes. Then she smiled grabbing it.

" Aren't you cold Alvin? Get out of the way if you are" she warned sprinkling soapy water on the car which had Alvin sprinting out of the way earning a burst of piercing laughter from her.

" Let's wash the car. It's good for the baby" she lied as he picked a scrubbing brush.

" Anything you say" he muttered scrubbing the glass doors while she sprinkled water on them.

" I think it's clean" he stated scratching his hair as she laughed at him then pointed to the half-washed car. He scrubbed the doors only.

" Fair enough. I guess I'm not that good at washing cars. Let's go inside. "

" Or I can teach you. What do you say? She winked at him picking the brush while he shook his head in disagreement.

" Not good for the baby. C'mon. I'll take you shopping or anything else" he offered to take the brush from her.

" Really? Anything? She asked thinking of a hundred ways to have fun.

" Anything," he said slowly regretting it already. She trailed off while he followed her begrudgingly.

Kate picked knee-length cotton shorts for him and a short-sleeved shirt and a canvas.

" You look great so let's go shopping perhaps we could go to the beach instead' with her fingers on her lips she paced about contemplating while he put the clothes on styling his hair then sat down waiting.

" We'll do both. It is such a pity I'm pregnant but you can make it up to me when I've put to bed " with that they were out of the house.

Deborah Patterson: Kate's mother was happy to see them that way. She could only wish she enjoys her marriage.

Alvin was struggling with the shopping bags as she entered another door of the boutique picking things.

He was surprised she was paying by the time they got to the cashier's desk.

' Kate, I'll pay. No arguments" he seemed to be serious which had her frowning rejecting his offer.

" They're my family Alvin. I want to spend on them. You've done enough" he gave it a rest allowing her to pay. They were about to board the car when he spoke.

' I need to use the restroom. Give me a minute" he spoke entering the building. He came out with a smug smile passing some ladies by who were throwing flirty moves at him. Some went as far as throwing him flying kisses and boobs shake. He scoffed staring at an angry Kate who grabbed his hands and showed it to them. The ladies changed demeanor the moment they saw the ring which had him laughing so hard.

She glared at him in irritation then it occurred to her that he was laughing which he hasn't done for two whole years. She couldn't help but bring out her phone to take a photo.

" What are you doing? He asked noticing her flash a camera at him.

" Taking a picture. Alvin, come closer" he shrugged wrapping his hands around her waist as she flicked the camera taking a picture then more and more.

" You're so handsome Alvin. I hope our child takes after you" she giggled catching him off guard.

He scoffed then smiled. She was warming up to him. They could work. He was ready to forgive and forget for his unborn child. They would have their whole life together or so he thought.

" Alvin!!! " He snapped out of it entering the pilot seat helping her with the seat belt then used his.

He parked beside a Beach House. She quickly disengaged breathing in the cold hair.

" I just want to be beside the sea. I love its calmness. Don't you Alvin? She asked staring up at him.

" It's empty Kate. No one comes here in winter. I think you're trying to get us killed " he uttered as she poked him tucking strands of hair behind her ears frustrated by the number of times it has flown across her eyes.

" A place for us to be together alone and be free from the pressure of life. I guess I wanted to tell you how much this means to me. I'm glad we're doing this. I.." she paused noticing him tuck her hair properly. His cold hands brushed against her cheeks making her flinch.

" We should go back, Kate. It's freezing out here. We can do this during summer. Come " she sighed annoyed at his bluntness but entered the car.

Alvin didn't trust himself. She was getting to him again and he didn't want that. He didn't want to go through a second heartbreak. So the drive was quiet and boring but he caught a glimpse of her from time to time sighing in defeat.

" Let's grab something to eat. I'm starving" he started taking u-turn.

A Michelin chef attended to them mesmerized by Alvin's figure.

" Sir Alvin, long time no see" Kate could tell with her approach that she had something to do with him perhaps when he was away from home.

" Indeed. I see you're back in town"

" Yeah. Just helping out. You look different like really different" she complimented checking him out biting her lips feigning oblivion to Kate's presence.

" Good different or bad different?

" Hot different like I can imagine being down there to cool it. I need the warmth . It's winter after all" she stated staring at him in pure lust.

" What do you say? We can hang outright? Kate shifted on the chair clearing her throat but she didn't pay attention to her staring at the alluring man in front of her.

" Maya, I'm married," he tells her but it didn't seem to affect her.

" So what? It's just for a few days till you leave like old times. I know Cynthia is a sarcastic bitch" she cussed. Kate poked her gaining her attention.

" Didn't you hear him? Can't you just take a hint? Hitting on my husband in front of me no wonder David left you. You must have slept with his uncle" she slammed as Maya frowned wondering how she knew.

" Shut the Fuck up. I knew him before you seduced your way into his life. David is a fucked up asshole whining over a miserable girl. That obsessed fool doesn't deserve me so I left him " she spoke as Kate chuckled standing up to match her height

" I don't think so. There's nothing special about you. I'm glad my husband rid himself of you sooner" Maya gritted her teeth about to retaliate then saw a shining ruby stone glittering on her finger, her eyes unconsciously moved to the bump with widened eyes.

" Is she really your wife? Omg," she exclaimed in shock. Alvin dabbed his lips meeting her gaze

" Do I have to tell you? My wedding wasn't a secret. You just didn't want to know. Meet my wife. Kate Reagan" she looked at her in disgust then walked away.

" Eat your food Kate before it gets soggy and Kate, I left her before I met Cynthia. It's been over between us since forever"

" How long? She said sullenly

" Very long. Ten years I think. I don't know how David found her. I met her again the day I met you. We didn't click. She's a whore" he tells her.

Something about the way he addressed her calmed her down. She knew he loved women but not as much as David does.
