Dante was restless cos Kate wasn't picking his call not that he heard it ringing. The frustration was killing him that he ditched David. Backing out of the deal without Kate's approval. He was doing it for her.

The eye bags were more prominent due to the stress of trying to save his company from crumbling which had him traveling out of town while Carla booked numerous appointments to see Alvin which was declined, dismissed, or overlooked but she kept trying. She was ready to do anything to save her company: her only source of survival.

So she would sit in the waiting room expecting to hear her name but nothing but it didn't discourage her from doing it.

While Alvin and Kate arrived in Mandeville, manchester in Jamaica to see her parents. Just the sight of her hometown brought a smile to her face while Alvin led her into the house.

Alvin laughed as she went around looking for her mother's house only to stiffen as she couldn't find it. He pulled her over pointing at the white house.

" She's in there. Let's go" he tells her muffling a laugh which wasn't her problem at the moment.

She took long strides to the house and pressed the bell. A young lady opened the door for her lowering her head to greet Alvin who shook his head and entered the house.

Kate saw her mom and hurried to hug her. " I miss you, mom. How are you? She asked hugging her tight. She released her sensing her discomfort.

' nice to see you, Kate. Look at you." She said dazed then hugged her again then hugged Alvin directing him to sit.

" Are you here for the new year? That's fantastic" she squirmed cupping Kate's cheeks then kissed it.

" I missed you, baby girl. Alvin really is a blessing to this family" she commented leading Kate to a seat then sat beside her rubbing her back.

" Where's Louis? I haven't seen him for some time now she said eager to see her little brother again who was taller than her.

" He's working late at the hospital. He's one of the finest. Let me get you some tea " she offered reluctant to leave her alone but Alvin stood up to get it himself earning a glare from her.

" You look lovely Kate. Aww look at you" she cooed making her blush squinting her eyes at the machine in her waist.

" Mom, what's that?

" What? Her mother asked as Kate pointed to it which had her laughing.

" It's for my diabetes. It keeps me in check. I don't know what it's called" they giggled.

" You must be tired from the long trip. Let's go inside and catch up. I have a lot to ask. Lest I forget I got you something" Mrs. Patterson said trailing to get it while Kate smiled looking at Alvin who was busy sipping his coffee.

" How long are we staying? She asked but he said nothing other than squint his eyes then sipped his coffee diligently. She rolled her eyes catching a glimpse of her mom.

" What could that be? She squirmed helping her with it.

" Alvin, you might wanna see this" Mrs. Patterson called as Alvin stood up to see.

" Aren't these my photos? Mom, it's not funny. No no. It's embarrassing" she tends to hide it but he grabbed it from her flipping the photo albums.

" See. She has always been a beauty. She won a beauty pageant in fifth grade. This was the first time she learned how to ride a bicycle. this.." the album was snatched by Kate as Alvin raised a brow accepting her challenge.

She ran after her mother to escape him.

" She's not going to save you. C'mon Kate I want to see. In case we have a girl" he announced earning a ' wow' from Mrs. Patterson who pulled her into a hug.

" I'm going to be a grandma right? Katie, why didn't you say something? With that Alvin snatched the photo album from Kate disappearing upstairs to glance through it.

" Why did you do that Mom?' she whined taking a seat while her mother laughed holding her hands.

" My baby girl is all grown up. She's about to be a mother too' she said in ecstasy stroking her hair.

" I know you're going to be a good mother. I'm so proud of you Kate. I'm proud of what you've become. I loved you so much, dear. Having you is the best decision I ever made. Thank you for everything sweetie" she appreciated wiping Kate's tears away while Kate pulled her in for a hug letting her sorrows out. Mrs. Patterson thought she was crying because of her so she tried her best to console her.

" What's going on here? They heard a husky voice that had her sniffling raising her head to see her cute brother.

" Louis, you're back" she hugged him still sobbing while Louis held her tight mouthing to his mom' what happened? Why is she crying? '

" I missed you guys so much" she muttered as Louis heaved a sigh of relief stroking her hair.

" You got married in a foreign country and abandoned us. Are you tired of him already? He teased as she poked him.

" He's upstairs. We came together" she tells him ruffling his hair childishly.

" Kate, I'm not a kid anymore. Stop doing that" he whined arranging his hair as the ladies laughed at him.

" Alright cutie. How was your day? Oww, my little brother is a doctor. How romantic" she squirmed which had him blushing enveloping her in a warm hug.

" I missed you, sis. Thanks for coming. I missed you" he said softly inhaling her scent then let her go.

" Where's Alvin? Can't wait to see him " he squirmed climbing the stairs in a hurry.

" Be careful okay? " Kate screamed after him though he was gone already.

" I brought you presents. It's been a long I bought you something with my hard-earned money' she stated handing her a box of jewelry.

" I know how much you love jewelry. I know Alvin gave you money already but this is from me. I worked hard for it" she giggled as her mom hugged her knowing she was going through a tough time. She couldn't force her to spill though she wanted to know what it was.

" You didn't have to but I'll keep it. My beautiful daughter. The sky is your limit. I know things are hard, I know it wasn't what you unexpected. Your time will come, my dear. Just keep yourself, hold on to something. Sweetheart, there's so much more you're yet to see. Think of it as a trial. When everything is over you will raise your head high knowing you did your best. " She smiles pecking her ' you know you're a star, do you need me to remind you? You stand out from others. Your light will outshine the entire milky way. Your star will so shine that you'll illuminate others. Your time will come, my dear. Have faith. Do good, be good and the sky will be your limit. Everything is going to be fine. I know so. C'mon smile" she tells her hugging her " you're a blessing to me, Kate. I wouldn't prefer another. My star" she complimented giving her wet kisses earning giggles from her

" I love you, Mom. I do all this for you. You're my anchor, my turning point, my life, my everything. I'll be lost without you. You're the perfect Mom. My hero. Thank you for keeping me, for taking care of us, for being a great mom, for always being there. Mom, I can't imagine what you went through. You're amazing" she tells her weeping.

About to be a mother herself, she had had her share of motherhood despite Alvin been there. She couldn't believe her mother did it alone: twice without the support and she had Alvin though he didn't love her but he loves her unborn child. She decided to be contented with what she had.

" I couldn't have done it without you, my dear. That's called parenting. Trust me it's not as bad as you think" she stated smiling. " Now go to your husband. I'm sure he needs you. We'll talk later" she tells her. Kate scoffed giving her a lingering kiss ' good night mom. I'll see you in the morning" she said then climbed the stairs hoping to find their room and it wasn't difficult cos she could hear Louis arguing with Alvin over something.

She twitched her mouth trailing there, her jaw nearly dropped at the scene of Alvin and Louis playing chess. He did treat her family well unlike her. She didn't want to disturb them so she joined her mother in the living room.

She wasn't there. She decided to check the house out. Alvin must be a trillionaire ' she thought gawking over the interior designs. At least they're happy.
