Chapter 415: Chapter 415
Seeing that Aunt Zhu didn’t notice anything unusual, Ji Wei secretly let out a sigh of relief. The source of thɪs content is novel-fire.ɴet
Gu Moqian was sitting in the dining room, engrossed in the newspaper he was holding.
Ji Wei sat down across from him. Worried that Aunt Zhu might overhear, she deliberately lowered her voice and said, "When are you going to unlock the handcuffs for me?"
Gu Moqian lifted his gaze from the newspaper, glanced at her, and said indifferently, "Do I need to unlock them for you?"
Ji Wei was taken aback, staring at him in confusion.
How had she offended him this time? She’d worked so "hard" last night, doing her best to please him. Was he still not happy?
Ji Wei pouted. "I don’t care, you have to unlock them for me. I can’t go to work ." As she spoke, she stretched out the hand that was cuffed.
Gu Moqian didn’t budge, his eyes still fixed on the newspaper.
Ji Wei was utterly frustrated.
Angrily stirring the porridge in her bowl, she thought bitterly to herself: She had to throw out that box of stuff later! It was nothing but trouble—completely detrimental to physical and mental health!
After taking a few sips of porridge, Ji Wei refused to give in just yet and spoke again. "Mo Qian, please unlock them for me. Whatever I did wrong, I’ll fix it. There’s no need to punish me , right?"
"Where did you go last night?" Gu Moqian asked, his voice cold and detached.
Ji Wei blinked her eyes innocently, putting on a face of pure naïveté. "I just went out to buy a gift and then came back!"
"Nowhere else?" Gu Moqian’s expression clearly showed disbelief.
"Well, I did stop by Duoduo’s place; she had something she needed help with," Ji Wei answered honestly.
Gu Moqian snorted coldly and tossed the newspaper in his hand onto the table in front of her. "So, you’ve even learned to lie now?"
Ji Wei, clueless, picked up the newspaper. She told the truth—how could he call her a liar?
Her eyes quickly landed on the front-page headline: Solid Evidence! Celebrity Agent Spotted Leaving Heiress’s Apartment—Girlfriend Identity Exposed.
The page featured several photos, including a crystal-clear shot of her face as she walked out of Ye Cheng’s apartment!
Ji Wei never expected that her departure from the apartment last night would be caught by paparazzi.
On top of that, they’d unearthed a photo from the yacht party last time. Even though she and Ye Cheng were far apart, the article claimed their gazes had met in a romantic and intimate way through the crowd.
"This is absolute nonsense," Ji Wei muttered with disdain after reading the article. "Do you actually believe this kind of baseless gossip? Ye Cheng was at our house last night. There’s nothing between us—nothing at all!"
"Then why did you go to his place?" Gu Moqian demanded, his tone pressing and accusatory.
Ji Wei hadn’t wanted to reveal Xia Duoduo’s "arson" incident, but it seemed like she had no choice now.
After explaining everything that happened the night before, Gu Moqian’s expression finally softened a lot.
If Ji Wei had really done something inappropriate with Ye Cheng, he might have lost his mind.
"Well, now that the truth’s out, can you please unlock it, darling?" Ji Wei sweetly cozied up to him, pouting playfully as she pleaded.
Gu Moqian stared at her for a moment, before finally admitting, "The key... I don’t know where it is."
Last night, in his rush to deal with something urgent, he had no idea where the handcuff key had been tossed.
Ji Wei was on the verge of tears.
So it wasn’t that he didn’t want to help her unlock the cuffs—he had lost the darn key!
Slumping into the dining chair, Ji Wei looked utterly defeated, her face a portrait of despair.
If she went out wearing handcuffs, people would either think she had masochistic tendencies or that she was completely unhinged!
"I’ll go upstairs and look again," Ji Wei declared, refusing to give up. The key had to be somewhere in the house—she didn’t believe it couldn’t be found!
Gu Moqian quickly stopped her. "I already searched carefully when I got up this morning. It’s not in the room."
"Then what are we supposed to do? Should I grab a big knife and just hack the handcuffs off?" Ji Wei was running out of ideas.
