Chapter 99: Chapter 99
- Maive's POV -
I was speechless, unable to move. That guy even dared to go against the Alpha King and now, Daxton is losing himself.
I was completely surprised that Daxton had gone havoc as he started beating the guy and the guy couldn't even defend himself, his strength is nothing compared to Daxton. He was trying to fight, but Daxton was too strong for him. He is also filled with bloodlust, making him even stronger.
It seemed like a bucket of water was thrown to me when I saw the guy coughing blood. I looked around his teammates, everyone was watching. However, no one dared to stop and it seemed as if fighting was normal for everyone, except me. I have to do something or Daxton might kill the guy.
"Daxton..." I tried to call him, but the rage enveloping him couldn't allow me to be heard.
Damn, what should I do now? I was rattled, unable to do anything.
His eyes were fully dilated, and he was not thinking straight. He could kill this guy with just his punches. No, he was ready to kill him. That's what his eyes are trying to tell.
The guy was almost unconscious when Butch and Cyrus came. They were running towards Daxton. Cyrus went in the middle and tried to push Daxton away from the guy. Butch pulled the almost unconscious guy slightly away from Daxton.
"Get the fuck away from me, Cyrus!" He was extremely mad, trying to get past Cyrus to hurt the guy and I could see that Cyrus is having a hard time dealing with him, as if he can't hold Daxton longer with his strength. Daxton was out of himself, thinking irrationally.
"You are scaring her..." I heard Cyrus whispering at Daxton as he tried to push him away.
"I'll deal with him," Butch said as he grabbed the guy's collar and removed him from the scene.
With a clenched jaw, Daxton looked at me. His eyes turned deep black after some seconds of staring at me. I am probably tearing up, afraid that he almost killed a man because of me. I know that he was just protecting me, but he goes beyond the line.
His right hand was bleeding from the extensive punches he did. I don't think he could feel that he was bleeding, it was probably normal for him... the pain, he seemed numb.
He began to look calm as he stared at me. I tried to take a step closer to him to make him calmer but he took a step away, he was afraid of something and it was evident in his eyes. I just wanted to calm him... I tried again to take a step closer but he ended up leaving the field. He was soon out of my sight.
I don't know but I wanted to comfort him despite seeing his ruthless side.
"Are you okay?" Anne immediately went towards me. She took a look at Cyrus and their eyes met before he left the field too.
I nodded, still a bit surprised by what had just happened in front of me.
"You're burning, we should go to the school's infirmary," Gabriella suggested.
I couldn't protest because my thoughts are still wandering. Several thoughts had occupied my mind. One of those is the way Daxton still looked freaking handsome and seducing despite being angry, it makes him even sexier on top of that. I know I shouldn't be thinking about that but I cannot stop myself from doing so. Then this heat that is burning my body got even worse after the incident.
Damn it.
I found myself in the infirmary with Anne and Gabriella. They pulled me here without me realising as I was busy contemplating all the thoughts occupying my mind.
After a while of waiting, there was a doctor who attended to me. He looked like in his 50s and he seemed trustworthy, I could sense it.
"What's the case?" He asked as he grabbed his stethoscope from the table.
"She's running a fever. I think she needs an antipyretic," Gabriella answered for me.
The doctor nodded as if he knew something and went to grab a thermometer in his cabinet. He asked permission before placing it into my armpit. My thoughts were still preoccupied that I cannot even think of the reason why I needed to be here.
A minute later, the thermometer produced some faint sound. The doctor went to remove it from my armpit as he looked at it closely.
After then, he stared at me, "looks pretty normal for me." He said, giving a reassuring smile.
He placed his stethoscope on my chest, then at my back. "What are you feeling?" He asked.
"Just a heat building up on my body," I answered.
He stood up and went back to sit on the chair on his desk. He looked at my friends then back at me. "I knew it the moment your scent lingered," He said.
My brows turned crossed, not understanding what he meant. It sounded confusing to me because I did not wear any perfume before going here, I have my perfume left in my dormitory. I still haven't packed up my things to bring it into the Underwood residence.
"What do you mean?" I asked with curiosity.
He responded, "tlThe heat you are feeling is not from a fever. It is a wolf's heat."
I still couldn't understand him. Gabriella and Anne looked at each other, their jaws dropped. They were surprised to hear it and I am confused as earlier.
"I... couldn't understand," I said honestly.
How could I have a wolf's heat when I am not even a wolf -I mean, I don't have a wolf. I am sure that I'm a White Witch with the power coming from me.
Is it possible that I inherit both mom and dad's?
The doctor smiled, "Your friends could explain it to you."
He dismissed me after that and the three of us left the infirmary.
"What does he mean?" Getting intrigued with that wolf heat that he was referring to.
They grabbed me into a secluded place. I just found myself at the back of the building where the infirmary is located. Why does it need to be here? Why can't we just talk about it in the hallway?
"I have read in a book that a wolf's heat is an intense heat... as if your body is burning," Anne started.
I nodded, that is exactly what I am feeling.
"Male wolves could smell it as it produces an alluring scent... They would get madly attracted to your scent." Gabriella continued.
I crossed my brows, with my lips slightly opened. Could it be the reason why those guys were looking at me maliciously? That could be it...
"How long will it last? Was it like some disease?" I asked, a little confused about it.
I am anxious and worried too, now I have so many thoughts to contemplate.
They looked at each other. Their eyes are speaking silently, probably debating whether to tell me or not.
"Come on, tell me," I mumbled.
"It won't go until you are mated," Anne said.
I raised my brows, got an idea with the word mated but it feels wrong so I asked, "and... mated means?"
Gabriella bit her lip, "Until you slept together with your mate."
