Chapter 57: Chapter 57

- Anne's POV -

I was walking on the hallway towards the main library, I was determined to know if I could still save my father. He's the only family I have left, after mom... died. I still can't forget the day before she left us five years ago. She was bloodied in my arms as she tried catching her breath while I cried in the middle of the night. I cried pleading for the Moon Goddess to save her life, father was busy defending the pack from the enemies while I was left with mom.

I was just a child back then, I couldn't protect myself and even my mom. I was just a weakling little crybaby girl.

"Y-you save y-yourself, Anne and be... become strong. D-don't let... anyone hurt you... be my strong baby g-girl... okay?" She said before heart stopped beating.

That's when my father came to save us, but dad was too late. Mom died while my dress was full of my mother's blood.

After that, I trained by myself alone. Father doesn't want me to train because he doesn't want me to join the battlefield, good thing that he was always out of the house, leaving me with butlers. Every time he's gone to his office or busy protecting his pack... I was also busy doing what I wanted... but if he's inside the house, I busied myself reading books.

Looking around, the whole university was filled with excitement and I could hear from every corner that they were talking about what they should wear on the gala night as I walked past with the students. Even the boys are talking about the gala, I could hear some of them wanting to take a move for their mate or something...

I sighed, I am not even a bit excited about it. I hate the thought of that event, because that is where anyone could be in one place. They could do what they want... and we wouldn't know what would happen.

The students here are not just in this school for a reason of learning... They were here for a purpose and no one would know about that. Just like me, I am here not just to study, but also to learn how to save my father from his illness because only this school has the most resources other than some schools. I am also here for-

"Watch out!" I heard someone yell and with my instinct, I immediately docked down as I picked a piece of garbage on the ground.

The baseball ball passed just 2 inches above my head. I then stood up with the piece of garbage and continued walking once again as if I didn't know what happened, not minding those surprised eyes staring at me. I did not even dare to know who was the one who warned me, I just walked to the closest trashcan and threw the piece of garbage I picked earlier.

I continued heading to the main library as I thought of my father who suffers at night because of his illness. I wanted to take him far, to the place where he could be saved but he wouldn't even dare to leave the Slytherin Pack. The pack doctor in there couldn't even do a thing, he gave up with the methods of saving my father because he said that it was incurable.

I tried many things as well, herbal, chemical supplements and anything I thought of as far as my knowledge and readings have reached but none of them worked.

I sighed once again.

When I reached the main library, I directly headed to the health and medical sources. After that, I started scanning books. However, moments passed by, I sensed someone watching me.

I couldn't be wrong... my senses have never been wrong, someone was watching me. I decided to ignore it but an hour had passed and I looked through the window here at the library to see that the night was starting to come out, however, someone was still watching me.

I stood out of my seat and tried to look for books, but the truth is, I was looking for that someone who keeps spying on me, whoever is that person... it shouldn't come out of this library without me knowing who it was.

Suddenly, I stopped on my track when that scent struck my nose, making my heart go wild. I knew whose scent is that and so I looked at my left side and face a shelf with books on it, covering the other side of the shelf. I then took a thick book which revealed the person facing me as he leaned on the shelf next to the shelf in front of me.

Damn this heart of mine as if it wanted to come out of my ribcage. He's just so handsome to ignore.

"I wonder what a nerd is doing here." His voice was cold but I'm used to him because no matter what expression he uses in his voice, it still has the same effect on me, creating butterflies in my stomach.

I blushed as I bit my lip shyly. "Th-this is where nerds go by." I said.

His eyes suddenly held amusement, "Did I ask you?"

I looked down and remained quiet as I put back the thick book on the shelf. I then headed towards the table where I was sitting earlier and read another book.

But my thoughts were now preoccupied, was it Cyrus who was spying me?

But why would he then? I knew that he hates me because I'm a nerd but I don't mind it, it just made me love him even more. I cannot be against the Moon Goddess decision, no matter what, Cyrus is still my mate... he's the half of my soul... the destined man in my life and the only father for my future children. I cannot bear a child from some other man, the she-wolves could only get pregnant by their mates.

I shook my head, how did my thoughts go to pregnancy? Oh Anne, I blushed at how stupid my thoughts are. I then focused myself on reading or my system would take control over me.

Suddenly, I felt someone take the vacant seat in front of me.

"Don't attend the gala night." I heard Cyrus say, and it is not a suggestion... but an order.
