Chapter 43: Chapter 43

- Maive's POV -

Shock was just an understatement, my heart almost exploded to see who was the man behind my window. I don't know what to feel as my heart keeps beating erratically, and I am sure that the fear I was feeling earlier was gone. I wanted to open my mouth but it remained shut. I couldn't even feel my breathing as I was agape to the man in front of me.

"W-Why a-are y-you here..." At last my voice came out but I was terribly trembling. Because even with the darkness of the dawn night, I could still see his face clearly. He is like a diamond shimmering from the brightness of the full moon. He shines so bright that his face was full of enormous beauty which entices anyone who could see.

The man in front of me was the least person I expected. I had to momentarily scratch my eyes to check if I am really seeing someone who seemed impossible to be here. But even then, the great Daxton Astrid is still in front of me.

He was staring at me with an expression I couldn't decipher, but this time he is not the cold and arrogant Daxton I used to see. His hands were in his pockets as he constantly stared at me with unspoken words.

Just then I realized that he was filled with blood. His clothes were full of blood stains and there was also blood dripping from his right arm.

"Oh my God." I gasped putting my hands on my mouth at the sight of him that I couldn't help but step back a bit.

His breathing was heavy, looking like he had done some extensive physical activity and he looked tired as he leaned on the wall near him.

He smiled and that's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my entire life. My heart had gone crazy at the sight. I have never seen him smile and just by that makes my system go insane. To be honest, he is the description of a perfect man, as if he's part of the Greek Mythology, the god of beauty if that exists, he must have been that man.

Damn, I have gone crazy over this man, Daxton Astrid.

"I just... wanted to check on you," He casually said but the sound of his voice was soft and delicate to my ears. How could his voice become so handsome? Damn, just by his voice could make my heart drop.

Really, everything about him makes me fall deeper into this man.

However, until now I was lost and confused, I still couldn't believe that the highly Daxton Astrid was here inside the room I was staying in. And I was bothered because as far as I remember, he looks irritated and cold every time we encounter each other.

I would want to clearly ask him that but the blood dripping from his body was too difficult to ignore. It made me remember my father who had bled to death.

Realizing it, I found my feet moving, "I'll get a first aid kit." I said, panicking internally.

But Daxton was just there leaning on the wall, looking so cool as he smiled at me once again and my system had gone insane. But as I could see, he is now calmer compared to earlier when he was so tense.

"I'm healed now." He softly said as he stared at me intently.

Is this really Daxton Astrid? This one is soft and full of warmth other than the one I always saw in school, the cold him.

I probably blushed at his words, but I shrugged it off. I turned my back to him as I began searching for some medicine or first aid kit from my father's room.

When I found one on his cabinet and turned back at Daxton, he was nowhere to be found. He had left already, leaving me thinking of what had happened.

That's when I wake up. I immediately stood up and looked around. It was already morning as the sun shone brightly. I looked at my window but it was completely locked.

That made me confused. Did I just dream of him?

I, then, looked at the floor where he stood up as I remember it but there was no sign of blood. I saw him, he was bleeding and it was dripping on that floor.

I sighed, he was not here because it was all just my dream.

I cannot believe that it was a dream. I cannot believe that of all people, I would dream of Daxton. It was maybe because I kept thinking of him when I fell asleep that he even appeared in my dream.

How could a dream feel so real?

I sighed once again, a little disappointed that it was all just a dream. But a part of me was glad because in that dream, he was wounded and bleeding and it hurts me thinking of him in that state. Good thing it wasn't real.

I left my father's room and went to the dining area where my grandmother was cooking.

We talked all night, talking about the things that had happened to me and my father. Time passed and she did not allow me to go back to the dormitory and so she asked me to stay here.

I found out that months after my father left, his father had died from a heart attack. Grandfather tried to look everywhere for my father but he died from worry. It was kind of sad to think that things like that needed to happen. Being used to death, though, I was not that surprised to hear that grandfather died.

"I have classes for today. I will be leaving later," I said while we were having breakfast.

Uncle Zorious suddenly looked at me with a bit of disapproval in his eyes. "The Werewolf Land is in a mess right now. You should stay here for a while." He said.

That made me cross my brows in curiosity. "Why would it be a mess?"

He ran his hand into his mustache. "There was an attack from vampires at some borders yesterday night."

That made me confused. "Vampires?" I asked, making sure that I heard it right.

He nodded in response.

I thought vampires were just a myth from our village. But I shouldn't be surprised, not when I discovered that I am part of a werewolf species too.

My grandmother also looks like she does not want me to leave but I had another thing on my mind. I wanted to clarify things and I am determined to go to school.

After that breakfast, I headed to my father's room and left the mansion using the window. I had to move silently so as not to get caught.

As soon as I got out of the mansion, I ran away. Since the mansion was far from the road, I had to run a distance. I don't know what has gotten in my mind but I truly wanted to go to school however, the road is damn far.

Unexpectedly, I saw a taxi heading in this direction. I was confused though as to why there's a taxi in this isolated area. Despite it, I waved my hand for the driver to recognize me. Just then, the taxi stopped in front of me and I was glad that I immediately hopped in.

I was gasping for air as soon as I got inside but sighed in relief as well. "To Astrid University."

The driver nodded, "Yes, ma'am."

When I reached my dormitory, I immediately took a bath and changed my clothes before going into my classes.

The university seemed to be fine as compared to what my uncle had said. The students seemed to have not known the chaos or they did but acted as if nothing happened?

However, as soon as I take my seat in between Gabriella and Anne.

Anne asked, "Have you heard?"

I shook my head, getting curious about it but I have an idea on what she meant.

"Vampires attacked our territory," She whispered.

So my uncle wasn't lying...

"There was a rumor that the 3K's had participated in protecting the land," Gabriella now whispered in my left ear.

That made me immediately look at her, "Are you sure?"

"It was just a rumor, but with their responsibilities in the Werewolf World. That's probably true." Anne concluded and my thoughts were suddenly clouded.

I remembered Daxton bleeding and full of blood stains.

Was it not a dream?
