Chapter 286: Chapter 286

The next day Li Huan came again, dressed in a cyan sports outfit and black sneakers, clearly dressed for physical work. But the task at hand was no longer tilling but moving.

The courtyard house to the west had already been completely tidied up and aired out for seven to eight months. It was ready to be inhabited once the furniture was moved in. The books and some boxes to be packed were also prepared. The next morning, a vehicle showed up at the doorstep with seven or eight young men in green military uniforms brought in to start moving things.

When Li Huan arrived, he saw the bustling scene of the move and learned that they were moving to a hutong next door.

With many people and a short distance, they managed to move three loads of items in one morning, but the trickiest part was settling in.

Firstly, large pieces of furniture were placed, followed by smaller items sorted into each room. By late afternoon, when Li Xianglu and Qin Xi left, the house was almost ready for living, just lacking a bit of scattered main decorative placements.

The old man still resided in the eastern wing room of the first courtyard; the west side was the living room, much larger than before, consisting of two big rooms combined.

In the second courtyard lived Li Xianglu and Qin Xi, their bedrooms as well as a small guest room. A small adjoining room on the east side of their bedroom was transformed into a bathroom, whilst the western room became a study linked to the living room. In sum, the two occupied the whole second courtyard. Originally there was a lotus pond between the corridor that separated the first and second courtyards. Still, when it was rebuilt, the old man felt that since Li Xianglu and Qin Xi would be living in the second courtyard and might have children in the future, having a lotus pond wasn’t safe. It would be better to have one constructed at the back in the third courtyard.

Therefore, they built a round concrete flower pool, and the old man, with great enthusiasm, pointed at the flower pool and suggested, "This would be perfect for growing some spinach."

Li Xianglu didn’t mind, but Li Huan immediately felt a wave of weakness in his legs. "Dad, we don’t have any spinach. If you want some, I can buy you a truckload."

As the second semester progressed, school activities increased significantly, including speech competitions in both Chinese and English.

There were various forms of rewards too—exam rewards, competition rewards, even a contest for tidying up, all of which also had rewards.

These series of activities by the school aimed to enhance the students’ enthusiasm for learning and develop them comprehensively.

By December, Su Yan finally returned. This return was like a major migration, hauling a vehicle full of items, which impressed Li Xianglu immensely.

She knew Su Yan had always been an exquisite woman, but this level of refinement seemed a bit excessive.

As it got colder, cycling became bitterly cold. Qin Xi somehow procured an old Buick, which looked antiquated compared to modern ones. Li Xianglu was keen on storing it in the Storage Ring, but Qin Xi disagreed. Even if it was stored, it wouldn’t be taken out casually later, so it might as well not be collected since he wasn’t planning to enter into commerce in the future.

The newly moved-in courtyard house was much more convenient, the back door directly facing the main road, allowing vehicles to be driven straight in for parking before going to the front.

When Su Yan moved in again, she brought a seventeen-year-old young man and a man in his fifties, named Ah Vu and Old Geng.

Both were arranged to live in the guardian rooms in the front flower hall to the west, which were quite spacious at over forty square meters.

On Friday, Li Xianglu had no classes in the afternoon, but she attended an open class in the neighboring English department, taking the opportunity to wait for Qin Xi, who had professional classes in the afternoon.

Classes ended after 4 PM, and they had agreed to meet at the north gate parking lot at 5 PM to leave together.

So, she returned to tidy up her things. Upon entering, she saw two people around the person on the bed crying inside.

Li Xianglu paused, took off her scarf and mask, placed her backpack down, and squeezed through. It turned out to be Iro sitting there crying, consoled by Lu Anna, while Xiao Chong and Wang Ke stood by.

Li Xianglu, surprised, exclaimed, "What happened? Who bullied Iro?" This statement had a teasing tone. Iro was easygoing, and after the incident with Teacher Jiang, she quickly bounced back. Lately, her mood had been particularly good; she loved wearing colorful clothes and dressing up. The people in the dormitory even said Iro had fallen in love, but she firmly denied it.
