Chapter 226: Chapter 226

National Day holiday had started, and on the very night that Li Xianglu and Qin Xi returned, Mr. Li told them that they need not concern themselves with the two girls in the dormitory who were behaving strangely. Their main target was not their family, but they also had other tasks at hand.

This left Qin Xi and Li Xianglu exchanging puzzled looks. Other tasks? Also keeping an eye on them as part of it?

But Qin Xi thought of something else. In his previous life, there seemed to be two such people who appeared, and a major incident occurred. A student was caught, but later he learned that the student was merely driven by money to do certain things and wasn’t the core figure in the incident. The main culprits hadn’t even touched the fringes of the matter.

Thinking of this, Qin Xi couldn’t help but ponder again. What exactly were these two people here for? Could he possibly make use of the situation?

During the holidays, Li Xianglu injured her hand, so Sister Xing came every day, helping with cooking and the washing up. After changing the dressing once, Li Xianglu’s wound slowly began to heal and by the end of the vacation, it had mostly scabbed over, but the pale palm was still all scratched up — a harrowing sight.

Seeing this, Qin Xi was livid, nearly giving her bottom a beating again. It took Li Xianglu a great deal of begging for mercy and promising before she got out of a spanking.

Classes resumed on the eighth, and both of them had no morning classes. They had breakfast at home before heading out.

After Li Xianglu arrived at the dormitory, she saw that everyone was there but their expressions were odd, so she curiously asked, "What’s with you all, looking like frostbitten eggplants, all wilted and deflated?"

Iro sighed, "The disciplinary outcome for Qin Miao and Shen Yuehong has been announced."

Ah? The results were out on the first day of school? Li Xianglu was somewhat surprised.

But she heard Xu Xin dissatisfiedly comment, "I don’t know what the school was thinking, giving both of them just a minor demerit and a warning, and that’s that."

What? Just a minor demerit and a warning? Li Xianglu felt that the handling of this matter was a bit too childish. With so many incidents accumulating, how could they not issue a serious demerit?

Li Xianglu was puzzled, and Lin Dongxue, sitting beside her, glanced down at a book, then gave a look towards Tian Tian, who was wiping her face at the door.

Tian Tian upon seeing this didn’t speak, and Xiao Chong, somewhat dissatisfied, said, "Even after all this, just a minor demerit. I don’t know what the school is thinking."

Li Xianglu let out a sigh, "There’s no evidence regarding the issues with the club funds, so the two cases remain suspicious at most." This was merely Li Xianglu comforting herself; even she found it hard to believe.

But the decision had been made.

Ignoring the chatter, everyone got ready for their 10:10 class and hurried off to their respective classrooms.

Li Xianglu didn’t dwell on this matter too much; after all, the school had dealt with it.

In the afternoon, Qin Xi came looking for her, and the two had dinner together before taking a walk on the school’s sports field.

Both were already aware of the school’s disciplinary actions. Qin Xi, looking at the distant setting sun, spoke as if his voice came from afar, "Regarding Qin Miao’s case, someone intervened."

Li Xianglu was taken aback and approached to ask in a low voice, "Was it your grandfather?"

Qin Xi shook his head, "My grandfather doesn’t have that much influence."

Qin Xi didn’t say. He suspected that it could be Qin Miao’s connected benefactor who smoothed things over, but something didn’t sit right with him.

But there’s no time to think about that now, Li Xianglu couldn’t do anything about it either, the school has already handled it.

By the next afternoon, Xi Yunmei, looking exhausted, came to find Li Xianglu.

With a somewhat helpless expression, Xi Yunmei felt quite guilty as she said to Li Xianglu, "Xiao Xiang, I had already talked to my family about putting pressure on the school to deal seriously with this matter. They had agreed, but once the new term began, it was handled just like that."

Xi Yunmei sighed and said, "I went home yesterday and specifically brought up this issue, but my family said I shouldn’t interfere with how the school deals with it, just to go along with their decisions."

Xi Yunmei looked at Li Xianglu, biting her lip with annoyance, "I wanted to at least get you some justice, but it ended up being dealt with so casually, I really don’t understand it."

Li Xianglu smiled and consoled her, "Sister Yun Mei, it’s okay, the school must have its reasons for handling it this way. From now on, let’s just keep our distance from such people."

Xi Yunmei nodded, "That’s all we can do. I kicked both Qin Miao and Shen Yuehong out of our club for poor character, and they didn’t say anything about it."

Li Xianglu nodded to show her understanding; this was all that could be done for now.

The weather in October was getting colder, and suddenly there was a knitting craze at school. Everyone was keen on knitted goods, like sweaters, gloves, hats, and scarves.

And the girls all had to give their boyfriends a scarf, otherwise they’d be laughed at.

By the end of October, the dormitory’s heating hadn’t been turned on, and it was getting a bit cold. Li Xianglu, who had returned to her dorm after studying until ten o’clock, poured some hot water for washing her hands and face, then soaked her feet in hot water in a basin while knitting a scarf.

Xu Xin came back and couldn’t help but laugh upon seeing this, "Xiao Xiang, you’ve been knitting that scarf for half a month, right? We bought our yarn at the same time, and I’m already wearing mine."

Li Xianglu sighed with a hint of resignation, "How can you compare that? I’m just slower, okay."

Soon, Xiao Chong also returned, and seeing Li Xianglu concentrating on knitting, stitch by stitch, he laughed, "Lu Anna finished knitting the same scarf in just three days, but you still haven’t finished half of it after half a month."

Li Xianglu raised an eyebrow and asked, "Anna knitted a scarf?"

Xiao Chong set down his backpack and nodded, "That’s right, she finished it really quickly."

Li Xianglu blinked and queried, "Has she worn it yet?"

Xiao Chong thought for a moment and then shook his head helplessly, "I haven’t seen it, really haven’t. Maybe she gave it to someone. It’s a Tibetan blue scarf, cashmere yarn, extremely soft to the touch."

Li Xianglu nodded to indicate she took note. In fact, she really suspected that Anna and Qin Zhen were dating, but without solid evidence, she didn’t feel it was appropriate to ask. Maybe this scarf could be a breakthrough.

Thinking this, Li Xianglu glanced at the upper bunk of Xiao Chong and raised an eyebrow, "Lately, Tian Tian and Lin Dongxue have been coming back really late, haven’t they?"

Xiao Chong nodded, "Exactly, several times they came back right at the bell."

Xu Xin chimed in, "I haven’t bumped into them in the study room or the library either. I wonder which study room they’ve been using lately, they’ve been so secretive about it."

Li Xianglu frowned; she hadn’t encountered them either. Could it be they were studying in another faculty’s study room? That seemed unlikely; aside from those with boyfriends or girlfriends, most people tended to study somewhere convenient. It would be odd for finance students to cross half the campus to study in the medical school, unless they were getting together to do something else and not studying at all.

ps: I’m so sleepy, I’m going to sleep now, tomorrow I will get up early to write.
