Chapter 75: Chapter 75

RYAN POV

I hastened my footsteps, trying as much as possible to get to the 2nd floor of the hospital. I was tense slightly, worried about Evelyn, who had been hospitalized.

It was my lunch period when I got a call that she was in the hospital as a result of food poisoning. How was that even possible?

I made sure all the food and fruits provided to her were good and safe to consume. The doctor had given me a report on what the issue was, but I was least bothered about that.

My legs halted on stepping on the room, as she was sitting on the bed, the nurse helping with the removal of the drips which seemed to have been passed through her body.

She looked pale, a veil covering her face. Her gaze met mine, as the nurse left, leaving just her and me in the room.

I took a few steps closer, as I let out a sigh of relief.

"How are you feeling?”I asked, as she turned sideways.

"I am fine now. I had a stomach ache early this morning. I thought it was just a normal one, not until Claudia drove me here. I'm fine now.”She stated, lifting her legs off the bed.

"It's fine. You still need to rest according to what the doctor told me. I will make sure to carefully scrutinize whatever food and fruits you will be eating.”

She nodded, as the air felt silent for a while.

"I have to leave now. You should rest.”I turned to leave, as she called me.

"Please stay with me a little longer. I miss you, Ryan.”She voiced out, as she stood, slowly walking towards me.

That was my clue to leave.

"Bye. Take care.”I left, not turning to face her.

It hurts to know she might be at the receiving end of this, but the earlier she realizes that 'US'- is not possible, the better for her.

I bumped into Ma'am Claudia as she smiled at me, which I reciprocated.

She had wanted to return to Italy, but I tried to convince her to hold on for a while. She refused all the monetary rewards I gave her. According to her, she sees Evelyn as her daughter.

"Good day ma'am.”I greeted, hugging her for a while.

"You came so fast, and stop using ma'am for me. I am not that old.”She groaned as I chuckled.

I was glad I bumped into her and most importantly, not seeing Evelyn trolling behind me was a big relief for me. I felt quite guilty for thinking that way but….

"I doubt if I can. Thank you for taking care of Evelyn. I really appreciate it.”

"It's fine. I have to leave now.”She suddenly felt nervous, as she took steps backward.

"Are you fine? You look startled.”My brows creased, as I stared at her.

She brushed it off, as she walked away.

I stayed at the same position for a few seconds, wondering what just happened.

I did not do anything bad, did I?

I headed towards the parking lot where I parked. My body halted at the sight of Evelyn, who rested on my car, arms akimbo.

I frantically looked around, as I strolled towards her, thinking of the best way to move her away without causing eyes of others on us.

How the hell did she get past me?

"Evelyn, you still need to rest. What are you doing here?”I inquired, my eyes boring into her.

She removed her veil as her brown eyes locked with mine. At that instant, it reminded me of Ariel. Ariel's brown eyes looked more brownish and beautiful,' I thought.

I shook my head, trying to bury my thoughts.

"I want to follow you, Ryan. I'm tired of staying in that house. I feel so lonely and bored.”She expressed raising her hands in the air in anger.

I sighed, my gaze lingering around, and I was pleased no one seemed to be around the parking lot now.

My head was spinning as Evelyn seemed determined today.

I knew that inviting her into the car wasn't the best idea. Someone can take pictures, raising another scandal. If Ariel saw that, she would be heartbroken.

"Listen. We will talk about this later on. I left tons of work just to visit you, you should appreciate that.”I pointed out, as she seemed unfazed.

"As if you care. I'm pretty, you will be pleased if you learned I was dead. You and your wife that you cared so much about will be very happy.”A growl escaped from me, as I glared at her.

"You are stepping out of your line. Be careful with those words of yours. Neither Ariel nor I wish you bad. Let go of those insecurities speaking inside of you.”I took steps closer, hoping it would sink into his head.

"I love you, Ryan. Isn't it obvious?”

My mind went blank, my chest suddenly rising, not because I was affected by her words but because it reminded me of Ariel's confession to me.

I suddenly felt something tight in my chest.

"You are not sure of what you are saying. I have to leave.”I pressed my car key button as I walked to the other side of the car.

She opened the car as she attempted to enter.

"If you make the mistake of sitting inside that car, I promise to go through crook and nook to divorce you. I mean it, Evelyn.”I stated, my eyes burning with anger.

Her face turned pale, as she dropped her hand from the car handle.

"You are wicked. At least give me a job at your workplace. Maybe I can remember the past by being around you.”She voiced out, as hissed.

"In your dreams.”I mused, as I entered my car, jeering my car back to life as I sped away, not sparing a glance at Evelyn who probably was still in the same position I left her.

I felt guilty for a while, but then it faded away….

*******

I watched with anger as his hands pressed onto her bosoms. She moaned, biting her lips, as he pressed his lips against her neck.

I gritted my teeth, irritated at the sight in front of me. My secretary and dad in their shame of sexual desires.

"Get a room.”They separated, as their eyes met mine.

Chloe held on to her chest, as she fidgeted. She looked as if the ground would swallow her. Her gaze left mine, as she looked at the ground, as she tried to button up.

Dad, however, was angry I interrupted them. I took a few steps closer, as I stared into his eyes. It dawned on me, I took most of his physical features. At that moment, I regretted being his son.

"What are you going to do, son? Sack her?”He sneered, as I stood unfazed.

“You should be ashamed, not proud. What goes around definitely comes around. You will reap what you sow.” With that said, I left, not waiting for his next set of words.

Throughout the day, I decided not to dwell on what happened. Time will reveal what will happen next.

..............

The aroma of Ariel's meal only sent my stomach yearning to taste it. And when it was served, the taste was unique, and tasty.

My mum had been my favorite cook, not until I married Ariel. A thought came to mind, as I decided to say it out.

"Have you ever thought of opening a restaurant?Being a chef?”

She stopped with her cutleries on her plate as her stare cut to mine.

"I never thought of it.”She took a sip of water, concentrating on her meal.

I held her wrist as she smiled.

"Start thinking about it. I love all your meals. They are the best.”I complimented, as her face reddened.

"Thank you. Well, not only for complimenting my meals, but also thinking I could further into being a chef and starting out a restaurant. I will think about it.”I reciprocated her smile, as we ate in silence.

I spent an hour later in my study room as I went into the room, only to see Ariel cladded in a small towel, her body revealing more of her curves. She looked ravishing.

She walked sultrily towards me, as my brain seemed frozen. She looked different as she took my lips. I leaned closer as I cupped her closer, my hand slowly exploring her body.

Our body collided, as my body trembled with sexual excitement. I was about to remove her only clothing, as my phone rang through.

I groaned as I stopped, staring at Ariel for permission as she nodded. Still on top of Ariel, I pulled out my phone from my trousers, as Ma'am Claudia's name was boldly written on the phone screen.

My brows creased as I picked the call, placing it to my ear.

"Evelyn is alone in her room. It had been locked. She went in with a knife. She claimed she would kill herself if she didn't see you. Please come quick.”

My sexual tesexual tension vanished instantly as I stood up.

I ended the call, staring at Ariel looking for the best way to break it to her.

"I have to leave. I will be back tonight,I promise."I pressed a kiss on her forehead as she pushed me away.

She stood up, backing me.

My shoulders slumped with disappointment.

I promised to be with Ariel tonight, but I seemed to be breaking that promise.

"Ariel, please understand. I have to attend to this. I will make it up to you."I touched her shoulder, as she faced me, tears brimming her eyes.

I felt my heart slowly splitting. I hate it when she cries. It hurt me, and I really hate this. But yet, I couldn't risk it. Evelyn can do something dangerous to herself if I do not leave.

"You promised to be with me tonight."

I was heartbroken seeing her tears. My heart suddenly felt too tight. I wasn't sure what to do any longer.
