Chapter 48: Chapter 48
ARIEL POV
Love, they say, is a beautiful thing. It is sometimes not a feeling, but based on actuality, on what you know. Love is patient and kind, forgives freely and lots more. Love is more than the looks. It is mostly about the admirable qualities.
It had been over six months of my marriage with Ryan and so far so good, it made me feel safe. The past few days made me realize I was already in love with Ryan. Every day serves as a means to see more of his endearing qualities, making me grow in love with this man.
I wasn't certain if I were to fall for him, but I definitely liked what I felt for him. But does he feel the same way for me?
I let out a sigh, as I stared at him working on his laptop. We were currently on our way to Australia for our honeymoon. Surprised?
I was surprised, too. I thought he would randomly pick a country close by or perhaps Italy since he mostly ventured into business there, but I was wrong. He picked the place I had always wanted since childhood. My dream country.
After his apologies that morning, we have strengthened the bond of our marriage through friendship. We share our thoughts together, as married couples should. A lot of hugging, compliments, and kisses. Nothing more than the kiss.
He even prepared meals for me, especially during the weekends. Weird thing is that he never eats much from his meal and prefers I cook for him. Nothing more than the kiss. The thought of consummating our marriage often come to my mind, leaving me with this fluttering feeling in my stomach, but I decided against making a move.
I want our love making to be because we both wanted it. I realized the moments we shared brought about the rising of my new-found loveless for him.
"Staring at me, milady, don't tell me you are thinking something dirty.”I felt flustered, as I rolled my eyes.
"You are naughty. I was thinking about something else. Meanwhile, you should stop typing already. Let's discuss, since we still have a few hours to get to Australia.”
He pressed some more words in his laptop as he shut it, keeping it beside him. He stood, sitting beside me, as my heart raced instantly, at the brush of his clothes against mine. We were in the private part of the airplane, as Ryan claimed it would give us more privacy.
“What do you want to talk about?”
"Well, why did you choose Australia? It is over 18 hours journey, Ryan. And expensive too?”He let out a sigh, as his shoulders sagged.
He doesn't like me talking about it, but I wouldn't stop bugging him.
"The trip was sponsored by the executives in all the company headed by my mum. I chose Australia because you have always wanted it. I want what you want.”His last words made my heart somersault, warmth clouding myself.
"Just get ready to be haunted by the ghosts in Australia. And the snakes too.Argh.”He made a snarling sound, raising his hands at me.
I burst into laughter at his words.
"Hey, there is no ghost. Australia iis a nice place.''I stated, as my stare cut to his.
"Right. What do you like there? Meanwhile, we will be staying at Melbourne.”I nodded, a quick memory of what I loved there finding its way to my mind.
"I love how spacious it is, the sea, ocean, the museum's, and the wine. I learned they taste so delicious.” I let out like a happy bubbling child as Ryan chuckled.
"Not bad. I never knew you are a lover of wines. I would have ordered the wines from Australia.”I hit him slightly in his arm, as he smiled.
"I love adventure, okay. Nature and the beauty of Australia had been something I look forward to seeing. Thank you so much for making that happen.”Swiftly, I hugged Ryan, as his breath fanned my ears.
It felt as if his heart was racing, as he simply embraced me.
"Thank you, too, for accompanying me. We would really enjoy our one-week stay there, making beautiful memories, just like a beauty like you.”Ryan said, as I simply smiled.
I am getting used to his pickup lines now, and I must confess they were quite cheesy, making me blush at every word he said.
I let go, as we stared at each other. His blue eyes staring at mine only brought one conclusion to my mind.
'TO CONFESS MY FEELINGS TO RYAN'.
An Herculean task, but the best thing,' I thought.
What could possibly go wrong?
*******
Perfect by Edsheran flowed smoothly at the background of the restaurant we are presently. The song was the perfect sign for me to go along with my confession, but I still had cold feet.
I peeked at Ryan, who had his mouth devouring the meats and crabs on his plate. His eyes met mine, as I quickly darted side way.
"Hey, you should eat up. The meat is yummy.”I laughed at Ryan's words.
Resting my chin on my back of my palms, I stared at him.
"So you have been pretending all this while. So, you can eat other meal aside from the one I prepare.”Ryan rolled his eyes, as he stared at me.
"You should be fined, as you know little about your husband. These are just meats and crabs. I can eat it no matter if prepared by anyone, but any proper meal had to be prepared by yours truly.” His hand pulled my wrist, as my heart skipped a bit.
My face turned crimson, as I just kept lost in his blue eyes.
I took a sip of my wine, trying to calm my heart, but it doesn't seems to work, as Ryan's warm hand was still placed on mine. The wine tasted delicious, no doubt. It was like the best wine ever.
He gently released my hand as we continued eating, sparing glances at each other.
"So, what kind of life do you like?”The fork I was holding stopped, as my eyebrows wrinkled a bit.
Why was Ryan asking me that?
"Well. I love a simple life, with the necessities of life. What about you?”My eyes locked with his, as I asked.
"Same as yours. I actually would love for my life to be more private.” He paused, munching on meat.
I strongly agree with him. Being a popular Billionaire would only make it difficult to keep a private life. Paparazzi left and right, looking for his mistakes to show in public.
"I feel like resigning from being a CEO, but I can't. I just wanted a life that I won't have to worry about making more, more growth to the company, just more and more money too. It drains me off everything. If not that you came into my life, I often feel unhappy.”My body trembled at his confession, as I just felt lost.
"Ryan, that's life for you. Occasionally, what we really want does not appear in front of us. And I'm glad to be part of your life. Whatever decision you will be making about your future, I will be ready to support you.”
He smiled at me, as he picked meat with his fork, pointing it to my mouth. I chuckled, as I took it, munching it.
Ryan's gaze met mine, as I suddenly felt shy.
"Tell me, milady, what type of man do you like? Do you find me troublesome sometime?”
I couldn't stop it this time, as I laughed.
"Seriously? Can we not talk about this?”I waved it off, but he wasn't bulging.
"Please. Be honest with me.”I sighed, placing my cutleries down.
"My type of man was a weird one. I've always wanted to marry someone of a middle class, a handsome farmer or businessman. Someone with good qualities, and would love to support the simple life I wanted. And no, I don't find you troublesome. I don't know how best to describe it.”I let it out, as Ryan nodded.
"It's fine. Your taste is quite unique.”He raised his brows in a mocking tone, as I hit his hand slightly.
"A farmer, really?”He asked, wiggling his brows, as I chuckled.
I knew that was the part he would lay emphasis on.
"Ahem. I had a crush on a schoolmate of mine who happened to be a farmer. Maybe that was the reason for my odd taste in men. He would often bring me food products from his farm so that I can prepare food recipe. Sadly, he transferred to another school, and that brought the end to our friendship. I ….”Ryan's gaze at me made me realize I was revealing too much.
"No more questions, Ryan.”I picked up my fork.
"It is babe, from you to me.”Warmth spread across my face at his words.
"And you mentioned you wanted to wanted to tell me something important. What is it?"
My heart seemed to a spin roll, as it felt too tight and full. I didn't lift my head. I didn't meet the eyes he's drilling in my direction.
His fingers brushed my fingers as I felt a jolt of sensation. I raised my head as it came in contact with a pair of blue eyes twinkling with mischief.
"What is it dear? Spill it."
I felt touched, and encouraged to say the thought in my mind. I sneakily studied his handsome features. Any woman would not be able to resist a man with his dashing looks especially when he was being so gentle.
"I love you Ryan Ackers."I finally dropped the bombshell.
I swear his facial expression changed.
What could possibly go wrong?
