Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Delilah knew something awful would scare the timid night. Jaycee's presence melts the snowflakes of the Canadian sweep. She had been calling him Jaycee on the back of her mind like an hour ago but they're not a close acquaintance, only that she'd been so mischievous enough to trail the man on all corners as Mr. Dayson's punctually reporting her. Other than that, Delilah described him as gold digging bachelor leeching on her father's investments. Bachelor, she'd correct that on her thought.

Tired of never-ending sentiments and dauntless clash. She decided to let the man spare a glance of her father's last crib. Delilah wasn't so evil to stop the man from seeing him, after all she didn't knew anything about her father's who-abouts. He might just be like other normal mourners who bestowed sympathy. Which Delilah find so weird and pointless.

She'd freely let him sit beside her. Secretly she scanned the man's tall, dark and Greek physique. She couldn't stop herself to adore and be amazed by the man's broadened shoulders, stern face and perfectly sliced jawline.

"Are you satisfied?" Jaycee smiled with creamy eyes. Delilah can't stop blushing trying to recover from her floppy embarrassment.

"If you're done you can leave." A sense of dislike between the authoritative tone.

"I think I might like to stay."

"Oh really, how come?" She wasn't rude but she cannot withstand Jaycee's whole being, if he stayed a little more she will be left drooling on the floor craving and wanting the man's male harshness and she doesn't like that. Not at all. She's in the middle of mourning and such bold, fiery thoughts will be disrespectful to think, much to the man whom Delilah never trusts.

"Look Delilah, I know you were just protecting your father's keepsakes but he's already dead and it's up to us to help each other raising the company." Delilah's ears never miss that sincere line. But she wasn't a fool, it's not easy for her to believe that Jaycee had good intentions with the company, looks can be deceiving sometimes.

"And did you expect me to believe that. I don't know what my father told you but I will not let you escape from it. It's time for you to know that I am not easily beaten up by such silliness."

"Your father was such a fine man Delilah, he bestowed his trust to me to handle the company for almost eight months and it's also hard for me seeing him inside that casket. But with what he told me, I wanted to continue everything in honor of his name." such heroic sense Delilah heard.

"What a heroism you got there Mr. Sahagun, I bet my father paid you highest. I don't care what he said to you. He's not here anymore and besides the company belongs to me, her only daughter. If my father was still alive, I bet he will be telling it right on your face." Offensive, but that's what Delilah wanted to say right from her two-hour travel from London until this very moment were the man could finally hear her burst of wrath.

"Would you mind if I told you what he really wanted for you?"

"Are you mocking me Mr. Sahagun?"

"No Delilah, your sweetness and angelic voice will neve' be mocked." That line he got there almost squeeze Delilah's throat. She purposely swallowed her slaver trying to cover her vacillating emotions.

"If you're here trying to tell stories Mr. Sahagun, then I don't have time for those. We can talk on court and discuss everything there."

"I have never been so amazed and adored a girl whose sense of credibility much higher than yours Delilah my sweet. You're very unpredictable and intriguing." Delilah couldn't help herself but to slightly smile in clandestine.

"Am I going to accept it as a compliment or an insult?" She proceeded.

"A compliment my sweet. Your father was right you were so perfect and beautiful I have never seen such radiant lady as you. Such perfect lady suited for a perfect man. This man never fails to humor her. But she wouldn't fall for cheesy traps easily not in Jaycee's traps.

"Tell me Mr. Sahagun, are you here to convince me on giving up the company?" She smiled hinting it could be Sahagun's purpose.

"No Delilah, I'm here to convince you of more than that."

"What are you talking about?" she was literally puzzled her brows raised waiting for Jaycee's response.

"Your father wanted to tell you this, but he'd bet you wouldn't agree to the terms."

"Can you stop riddling around and tell me what my father said. Are you here to get your company share or what? Tell me. What is it?" Delilah's voice pitched the room echoing around the silent dismal evening. Jaycee paused, gaze Delilah sincerely then alluringly smiled.

"I am here to get your heart Delilah. I am here to convince you of marrying me." his soft voice didn't crack a little with that sudden proclamation.

"What!" Delilah was shocked, she can't move. She was left frozen, she almost slipped out of her chair, drying her throat and speechless for a while. She is literally choke by the sudden announcement Jaycee made.

How could her father bribe her onto marrying this guy? It's not that he's not her type, but to her this man was twinned with bad luck, of all the men across the universe how could she end up into the man she wanted to be vanished. Destiny she presumed played her but she wasn't a woman of hollowness, she has her own decisions and she would strongly follow it.

"I would be willing to." It slipped out of her mouth. Unbelievable? The mouth of hers has a mind of its own. She couldn't believe she said that after all the ironic things she's thinking. Hence, if she tied hands with Jaycee she will get to taste the masculinity she dared to gaze. She will be sweeping with Jaycee's luscious and intoxicating lips, much more she will be blanketing Jaycee's warm body on the frigid nights of December, lonely day of Hearts and finally she can celebrate "monthsaries", anniversaries just like other couples did. But no, she shouldn't be easily swayed by Jaycee on a single sweet-talk, she's a woman of dignity- not hollowness.

"I mean no, and that's final!" She raised her chin on purpose. She's Delilah a woman stubborn than rocks.

"I'll count your first answer. Don't worry my sweet, I'll make you happier than you think." That seductive sound grilled Delilah's flesh.

"What are you talking about? Go away!" Shoo-ing Jaycee was harder than she thought. A proposal in the middle of her mourning was a disgusting and degrading idea, but somewhat Delilah's other side was wanting it.

"I'll go sweet, prepare yourself cause next month will be our grandest wedding." Jaycee proclaimed without disgusts. It took Delilah almost unending to recover with that proclamation. In a single night, the wind swept in reverse. Now Delilah's in the middle of a sudden yet gallant proposal.

"What?" Before the daring Jaycee vanished into thin air, that wink climaxing the heated conversation made Delilah's heart melt. Now she wanted to try marrying him on the back of her mind.
