Chapter 99: Chapter 99
Maxwell tensed slightly, straightening his half-crouched body. His sharp gaze swept towards Kevin, who was slowly walking towards the entrance. A flicker of astonishment flashed in his eyes.
Although he had noticed him for a while, it was the first time he had seen him up close... That face looked exactly like his!
Flora was also taken aback, leaning against the car window, watching the two identical men in a bewildered manner. The atmosphere between them was tense and explosive. Yes, the last time Kevin had known that Maxwell was in danger, he had ignored it. He must have a deep hatred for him!
Were they going to fight on the spot? Flora was shocked and doubtful, assuming the look of watching a good show, waiting for the drama to unfold. Strangely, even though they had just met, their faces showed nothing but coldness and intensity.
Shouldn't they be panicking, crying, and then interrogating each other to see if they were their brothers from a past life? Such a strange and magical coincidence! It was a fate that could hardly be attained even in a thousand years, but here they were, treating it so recklessly!
Kevin glanced at Flora in the car and sneered at Maxwell, saying, "It's rare for Mr. Maxwell to be so interested in my assistant. I wonder, Mr. Maxwell, where are you taking her?"
Maxwell stared at him and calmly called out, "Oliver..."
"Mr. Maxwell, please call me Kevin Davis." Kevin pulled the corners of his lips, giving him a dreamy smile, completely ignoring his astonishment and the faint, helpless call.
"Even if you are called Kevin Davis, it doesn't change the fact that you have Smith Family blood," Maxwell said indifferently.
Oliver Smith! His twin brother! He saw him again!
Kevin's face darkened as if someone had touched a sensitive area. He coldly said, "Mr. Maxwell, I have no interest in chatting with you. I came here just to retrieve my assistant." With that, he headed towards the car.
Flora, locked inside the car, strained her ears against the window, but still couldn't make out what they were saying. Curiosity consumed her, and she anxiously turned in circles inside the car, but the partition of this luxurious car had surprisingly good soundproofing.
"Oliver, I'm sure you know why Flora became your assistant!" Maxwell sneered, then surveyed him and continued, "Even if she is your assistant, you also know that she is my woman!"
Kevin froze. Sure enough! Maxwell had taken possession of Flora. And Maxwell was the person he hated! Yes, the reason he had appointed Flora as his assistant was mainly because of his connections. Otherwise, in the Moonlight Hotel, where beautiful women abounded, how could he have noticed Flora, a plain and ordinary girl?
"Where do you want to take her?" Kevin suddenly became worried, realizing he shouldn't have brought her to the banquet, shouldn't have used tonight to test the feelings between the two of them, shouldn't have provoked Maxwell in this way!
"That's my business." Maxwell rested his hand on the car door, then stopped and looked at him again. "If you want to go home, you're welcome anytime!" He had a stake in the Smith Family estate, and the relatives of the Smith Family were also his relatives!
"I'm not going back," Kevin said coldly.
Maxwell just smirked and didn't say anything else. He opened the car door and got into the driver's seat. Under Kevin' resentful gaze, he started the car and left the hotel entrance.
Kevin stared at the car disappearing into traffic with a resentful look on his face. He gritted his teeth and thought to himself: Maxwell! I hope you can still smile like this in the end! The hatred implanted in my heart since childhood could erupt at any moment.
The car sped along the road, and Flora curled up in the corner of the back seat, too afraid to move. With frightened eyes, she secretly glanced at Maxwell before turning to look out the window, wondering where he was taking her.
Maxwell's face remained dark, whether it was because of the confrontation with Kevin or because of her, she couldn't tell.
Flora, who couldn't bear the pressure, finally looked at him boldly and asked, "Big Young Master, where are you taking me?"
Such an overbearing man! Why could he always be so domineering and tightly control her actions?! This world truly has no justice!
"To a place where Kevin isn't present." Maxwell glanced at her through the rearview mirror and spoke coldly.
Flora was taken aback, completely unable to understand the meaning of his words. A place where Kevin isn't present? What does that have to do with Kevin? She didn't understand! Forget it, she thought, let fate decide. Since she had fallen into his hands, there was only a dead end for her!
After a while, the car slowly stopped, and Flora looked out the window to see that she was in a business residential building in the form of apartments. Why did he bring her to a place like this?
Still puzzled, her wrist was suddenly grabbed with great force and pulled outside. Flora was dragged out of the car by him who was not gentle at all and was led towards the residential building.
Maxwell's footsteps were large, and Flora couldn't keep up at all. Walking barefoot on the sandy ground, she gritted her teeth in pain, her heels injured. It made it even more difficult for her to keep up with Maxwell's pace. She had to plead desperately, "Slow down... Maxwell, you bastard... please, walk slower!"
Maxwell did slow down as requested. Not only did he slow down, but he also 'considerately' carried her horizontally in his arms, expressionless, as he walked towards the direction of the elevator.
Flora dared not make a sound and buried her face in his neck, trying to avoid the curious gazes that occasionally fell upon her. His unique scent filled her nostrils, and Flora inexplicably found it particularly pleasant.
It wasn't until they entered the elevator and knew that there was no one else around that she lifted her face from his neck. His handsome face was right in front of her, and their eyes met unexpectedly, igniting sparks in the quiet elevator.
