Chapter 57: Chapter 57
After having breakfast, feeling bored, Flora walked back into the yard and squatted down beside Auntie Grace, she asked curiously, "Auntie, did Chloe leave home so early?"
"Well, she has to go to work today, so she went to the office early in the morning," Auntie Grace replied.
"Oh, that's nice," Flora said enviously.
Auntie Grace looked at her, puzzled, and said with a smile, "Nice? Chloe complains every day about how nice it would be if she didn't have to go to work. Why are you saying it's nice?"
Flora smiled and said, "Because I also want to work. Otherwise, it would be too boring. By the way, Auntie, what does Chloe do for work? Are they hiring? Can she introduce me to do something there? Even if it's just a cleaning job."
Auntie Grace thought for a moment and nodded, "She works at a hotel. If you really want to work, it shouldn't be difficult to find a job there. I'll ask her tonight."
"Thank you, Auntie," Flora expressed her gratitude. It would be great if she could find a job. Otherwise, she'd just be living here as a freeloader.
She couldn't go back to the White Family. Even if she did, she would be captured by Maxwell soon, and there was a high chance that Henry would be involved again.
She had to find a place to hide that nobody could find. The place she was living now was already secluded enough. She believed Maxwell wouldn't be able to find this place! Once the heat died down in a few days, she would start looking for work!
In the evening, upon hearing that Flora wanted to find a job, Chloe looked at her with a sly look and asked bluntly, "What college did you graduate from?" She thought to herself that Flora was too young to have graduated from any college.
Sure enough, Flora hesitated and said, "I didn't finish college."
"What can you do? Set tables? Clean rooms quickly? Handle guests?" Chloe continued to ask.
Flora opened her mouth and shook her head, "I haven't done any of those!"
Chloe was exasperated. Flora had no experience but wanted to work at her five-star hotel? Was she being too naive? Staring at her, Chloe asked, "Are you kidding me?"
Chloe spoke up again, "I know what you're suited for."
"What?" Flora asked eagerly.
"Being a call girl. You're so pretty, you'll definitely have a thriving business," Chloe laughed heartily.
Auntie Grace quickly scolded her, "Chloe, what are you saying? How can you say such things about Flora?"
Flora's face fell, her complexion turning pale.
Chloe continued to laugh, saying, "Mom, I was just joking with you guys. Why take it so seriously? As for a job, let me ask our HR department. We can find a place for a waitress."
"Then please ask for Flora," Auntie Grace urged.
"Got it, I'll ask tomorrow," Chloe promised earnestly.
Flora looked gratefully at this sharp-tongued woman and sincerely thanked her. Chloe may seem tough on the surface, but she had a kind heart!
"Thank you, Chloe," Flora said gratefully.
In the study of the Smith Family mansion, Maxwell stared at the trembling man standing by the door with an angry expression on his face. He yelled, "Keep searching! You must find her for me!"
"Yes, Big Young Master," the man lowered his head and quickly shuffled towards the door.
"Wait!" Maxwell suddenly called out.
The man turned around, respectfully asking, "Is there anything else, Big Young Master?" He was genuinely afraid of Maxwell's temper, hoping it wouldn't be something difficult.
"Send someone to monitor the White Family, especially Henry White. He's the person she's most likely to turn to!" Maxwell said coldly, thinking that if she dared to escape back to Henry, he would never forgive her! Before he lost interest in her, no one else would touch her!
"Yes, Young master," the man nodded, turned around, and quickly walked out.
Leaving behind a furious Maxwell, he sat behind his desk with burning anger. He snapped the pen he held in his hand into several pieces!
It seemed he had been too good to her before, giving her the opportunity to escape. Flora White! The day you return to this mansion will be your day of torment! Maxwell muttered to himself.
He stood up, walked out from behind the desk, and grabbed his coat from the side, heading towards the door.
Mrs. Smith, who was intentionally waiting downstairs, approached him and asked, "Maxwell, are you going out? Where are you going?"
"Aunt, I have something to take care of," Maxwell casually replied while adjusting his coat. Although his tone was calm, the underlying rage was still noticeable!
"Are you planning to go find Flora?" Mrs. Smith reproachfully asked, "Maxwell, I don't understand why you're causing such a fuss. Do you... already have feelings for her?" Mrs. Smith cautiously asked. Based on Maxwell's recent behavior, she couldn't help but suspect!
Maxwell paused and stared at her for a moment, then smiled. "Aunt, do you really think I have such low standards?"
He spoke as if it were such a ridiculous thing, but deep down in his words, there was a hint of imperceptible guilt. Mrs. Smith's words surprised him and quickly made him question his own feelings. Why was he so eager to find her and bring her back? Was it just to continue seeking revenge on her? Was that the reason?
No one could answer him, not even himself, so he preferred to believe that was the reason. She was the enemy of the Smith Family, and he and she were sworn enemies!
Mrs. Smith had always been puzzled. According to Maxwell's taste, how could he develop feelings for a woman like her?
After seeing Maxwell's reaction, although she felt somewhat reassured, she still couldn't fully convince herself. She sighed helplessly and said, "It's better this way. Let her go when she's gone. Don't look for her anymore, okay?"
"No, I won't let her off that easily," Maxwell shook his head and cruelly uttered those words as he walked towards the main gate.
Soon after, the sound of a car engine started and disappeared at the gate.
"When did Maxwell become so stubborn?" Mrs. Smith paced anxiously in the house while Joshua, sitting on the sofa, sipped his hot coffee and sneered, "Mom, have you forgotten how Dad died and how our company collapsed?"
"I haven't forgotten!" Mrs. Smith glanced at him angrily. "Do you think I'm helping that woman? I'm just worried that Maxwell will go too far and get himself into trouble!"
"Too far? I don't think he's gone far enough. She should be locked on the third floor, to drive her crazy!" Just like Chiyoko, after being locked up for a year, no one was left sane or normal!
