Chapter 43: Chapter 43
She saw Maxwell?! Handsome and charming, tall and strong, who else could it be but Maxwell? Oliver was in England, so it couldn't possibly be him! The current Maxwell had a calmness on his face that Flora had never seen in him before, and his gaze wasn't as sharp as usual. And by his side, a beautiful woman with big wavy curls on her head was smiling and intimately linking her arm with Maxwell's. They seemed quite close!
Who was this woman? Maxwell's girlfriend? Mistress? Flora suddenly became very curious and wanted to know. What embarrassed her the most was that a miraculous feeling of concern emerged in her heart. Did she care about him being with another woman? Flora was stunned, feeling like she was completely abnormal!
Watching that familiar figure disappear into the corridor, probably going into a private room, Flora sat back in her seat with a sigh.
Lily was still flipping through the menu, not even raising her head, and asked, "Flora, what do you want to eat? I'll order for you!"
"I don't want to eat. Just tell the waiter to bring the food quickly," Flora urged.
She didn't want to stay here! Not at all. She especially didn't want to see Maxwell being affectionate with that super beautiful woman, and she didn't want Maxwell to see her here. So, she had to leave quickly!
After finishing their meal, Flora was preparing to go for a stroll on the streets that they hadn't visited in a long time with Lily. Just as they walked out of the hotel entrance, they were stopped by a few well-dressed men.
Flora was taken aback and was about to scold them when one of the men spoke first, "Miss Flora, please accompany us to the twenty-third floor." After speaking, he made a gesture of invitation to Flora.
Lily looked at the well-dressed men in confusion and asked, "Flora, do you know them?"
Flora didn't want to let Lily know too much, so she just nodded and said, "Yes, we're friends." Then she turned to Lily and said, "Sorry, Lily, let's go shopping another time. I suddenly have something to do today." Flora was talking, but in her heart, she was curious about why these people wanted her to go to the twenty-third floor.
"Okay, let's reschedule then," Lily said, looking a bit incredulously at the men, and waved her hand at Flora. Since they had something important to do, she didn't want to continue staying here.
Once Lily left, Flora immediately turned to the men with a displeased expression and asked, "What's the matter with going to the twenty-third floor? Isn't today my day off? Why do you still want to restrict my freedom?"
"I'm sorry, we also don't know what we're going to do up there. Please come with us, Miss Flora," one of the men said in a respectful but firm tone. After speaking, he turned and walked towards the direction of the elevator.
Flora hesitated for a moment, knowing that she was no match for them and causing a scene wouldn't look good. So she quickly followed them.
Flora followed the men into the elevator and went up to the twenty-third floor, then turned right and stopped in front of room number 2309. One of the men reached out and gently knocked on the wooden door.
After a while, a deep voice came from inside, "Come in."
Flora instinctively felt a little nervous. Was it Maxwell inside? Why did he want her to come here?
"Please, Miss Flora," the man opened the door and gestured.
Flora snapped back to reality and hesitated before taking two steps forward. The sound of the door closing behind her made her slightly nervous.
In the luxurious suite, Maxwell dressed in all black lazily leaned against the bar, sipping his drink. His eagle-like eyes locked onto the door. As Flora felt the intensity of his dangerous gaze, her heart skipped a beat, and she unconsciously scanned the suite. Where was the beautiful woman with her wavy hair?
Just as this question was rooted in Flora's mind, the sound of running water from the bathroom broke through. Taking a bath in the middle of the day couldn't mean anything good, Flora thought in her mind.
Wearing a fake smile on her face, she sneered, "Big Young Master, such an interesting way for you to spend your afternoon, hiding in a hotel."
As she spoke, Flora almost bit her tongue. Oh my god! Did such jealous words come out of her mouth? Flora! You're crazy! She scolded herself in her mind.
Maxwell chuckled and beckoned her, "Come here!"
"What for?" Flora stared at him warily.
Other than asking for the necklace, what else could he want from her? The beautiful woman was already in the preparation stage, so she should be safe, right? With that in mind, she walked over and stood in front of him, mockingly asking, "Did you bring me here just to let me witness your passionate scene with the beautiful woman?"
Maxwell still had his dream-like smile on his face. He leaned in, sniffed her neck, and chuckled, "You're jealous.."
Flora's face flushed as the embarrassment of having her thoughts discovered surfaced. She took a step back and glared at him, frustrated, "What do you want from me? Speak up already, my time is precious!"
She didn't want to spend another day mixed up with him. But if he didn't mention the necklace, she didn't want to be the one to bring it up either. After all, she had tampered with it, and her conscience was uneasy.
"You should know." Maxwell reached out to her, his impatience growing. As soon as he received the news that she had successfully retrieved the necklace, he couldn't wait to get it from her. He wasn't willing to wait even for a moment.
Flora sneered at his cold and handsome face. Was he in such a hurry to take the necklace from her because he was afraid she would hand it over to Oliver? If it wasn't for Henry being in his hands, she would rather give the necklace to Oliver, the one who had cared for her!
"I want you to release Henry first." Flora stared fearlessly at him.
"Henry has already returned to the White Family," Maxwell spoke calmly, displeased with her concern for Henry.
Flora was stunned. Henry had already returned to the White Family? How did she not see him just now? Did he really go back? She looked at Maxwell with a skeptical gaze, "Why didn't I see him just now?"
Maxwell chuckled, his hand that was extended in front of her turned into a grip on her chest, gently kneading it as he smirked, "Do you think I would let you see him? Let me tell you, you'll never have the chance to see him again in this lifetime because, for the time being, you belong to me..." He tightened his grip on her, causing Flora to furrow her brows in pain.
Flora swatted away his hands. She refused to be his. But, was she never going to see Henry again? She knew that with Maxwell's power, even if he returned Henry to the White Family today, he could easily take him away whenever he pleased!
"How do I know if you'll take the necklace and then capture Brother Henry again!" Flora had to voice her concerns, looking up at him, studying his reaction.
