Chapter 168: Chapter 168

After placing Flora on the big bed, Maxwell's sturdy body pressed down on her urgently yet gently. His hands quickly stripped off her clothes, kissing her neck, crossing her chest, and leaving warm touches.

Since having the baby, he had to be very careful every time. It's not enjoyable for him to do it this way, but he still tirelessly engages in lovemaking with her now and then. With so many beautiful women outside, he insisted on hugging this woman. What was he aiming for? Even he didn't know.

After the passionate moment, Maxwell lay panting on the side.

Flora sat up quietly, putting on her clothes one by one. Looking at him, she expressed her gratitude, "Thank you for buying me the piano."

She was truly grateful; with the company of the piano, the days ahead wouldn't be so gloomy. Although she didn't understand how Maxwell knew she liked the piano, she didn't delve into it much. Anyway, she knew Maxwell's abilities well enough! Figuring out her preferences was a piece of cake for him!

"You're welcome. You should know who I did it for." Maxwell, without any courtesy, poured cold water on her, refusing to admit that he bought it because he saw she liked the piano. He bought the piano only for the child; Maxwell had always thought so.

"Even if it's for that reason, you don't have to say it out loud," Flora grumbled discontentedly in a low voice. The profound gratitude on her face just moments ago had disappeared. As she thought, she had simply misunderstood the situation!

Nevertheless, she was still thankful. After all, she was the one benefiting from it, so it didn't matter much. At most, she felt a bit hurt, a bit pained in her heart, but nothing too serious.

"What are you muttering to yourself?" Maxwell sat up from the bed, casually grabbing a robe and draping it over himself, preparing to take a bath. He had been so eager to have sex with her that he forgot to take a bath.

"Nothing, I'm going to sleep. Good night!" Flora said. She bent down, lying back on the bed without moving, pretending to be asleep. She didn't want to continue the conversation with him. If they kept going, they would likely end up arguing over some disagreement, as it always seemed to happen between the two of them!

After Maxwell finished bathing, he heard a knock on the door. Glancing at Flora, who was pretending to sleep but clearly couldn't, on the bed, he hesitated for a moment before calling out, "Come in!"

The door was pushed open, and Mrs. Smith entered. She surveyed the master bedroom, and when her gaze passed over Flora on the bed, a hint of displeasure appeared on her face. Mrs. Smith was extremely averse to seeing Flora lying on Maxwell's bed.

"Maxwell, do you have a moment? I want to talk to you about something," Mrs. Smith, suppressing her displeasure, looked at Maxwell and said.

Upon hearing Mrs. Smith's voice, Flora hurriedly sat up from the bed, politely greeting, "Hello, Mrs. Smith ... um, you can talk, I'll step outside for a while and come back in." Since Mrs. Smith had something to discuss with Maxwell, it was undoubtedly something she didn't want her to hear, so she willingly decided to leave.

Mrs. Smith just cast a cold glance at her, ignoring her, but making it clear that she was waiting for her to leave.

As Flora was about to get up from the bed, Maxwell spoke to Mrs. Smith, "Aunt, let's talk in the study." She was going out for a stroll so late? Even though it was within the Smith Family mansion, Maxwell Smith still didn't feel at ease about it.

"Fine," Mrs. Smith said indifferently, then turned and walked out.

Maxwell casually wiped his wet hair with a towel and followed her to the study.

After sitting down in the study, Mrs. Smith observed Maxwell. After a moment of hesitation, she decided it was best to start with the matter of their birthdays. She said, "Maxwell, I know you don't like extravagance, so I won't make a big deal out of your birthdays next month. But you both must be present. Can you do that?"

Maxwell lowered his head, feeling a tingling sensation on his scalp. He ran his fingers through his damp hair. When he looked up, he mustered up the courage and said, "Aunt, there are a lot of things going on in England. How can Oliver stay at home for a whole month? It's better to let him go back and handle his work matters there."

"You've used that excuse for so many years. Don't you find it tiresome? Even if you're not tired of it, I certainly am," Mrs. Smith snapped at him. Whenever she made this request, both Maxwell and Oliver would always find work as an excuse to repeatedly decline, leaving her with no choice but to reluctantly agree!

With an apologetic smile, Maxwell said, "Aunt, you know the Smith Family Group has a lot of daily tasks waiting for us. It's even more necessary to have someone stationed in England."

"Maxwell," Mrs. Smith sighed wearily, and asked in an irritated tone, "Can we just let go of the business in England? Losing it wouldn't make the Smith Family Group any less thriving, but when it comes to emotions, you can't just discard them. All I want is for you all to sit together amiably and have a family reunion dinner. Is that so difficult?"

Maxwell remained silent. Besides feeling sorry, he didn't know what else he could do. He sighed softly and, as usual, said, "We'll see when the time comes, Aunt. We'll try our best to gather for a dinner."

"Well, You need to walk the talk. If either of you didn't show up at that time, I won't spare you!" Mrs. Smith threatened fiercely. Originally, she didn't intend to speak to Maxwell Smith in such a tone, but she just couldn't tolerate it anymore!

Maxwell reluctantly nodded, considering it an agreement for now. When the day came, he would figure out a way to find an excuse to not show up.

Seeing him nod, Mrs. Smith finally eased her mind slightly and smoothly transitioned to the second topic. Letting out a heartfelt sigh, she said, "Maxwell, let's forget about the past. Oliver made a mistake and ended up in bed with Chiyoko temporarily. But afterward, he voluntarily returned Chiyoko to you."

Maxwell sat on the sofa, waiting for her to continue. Deep down, he felt repulsed by this issue because Mrs. Smith brought it up way too often, wearing down his patience. Unfortunately, Mrs. Smith always seemed obsessed with this matter, and goodness knows how many times she had brought it up over the years!

Seeing his silence, Mrs. Smith sighed again and said, "You brothers may not get along, but your taste in women is oddly similar. First, you both loved Chiyoko at the same time, and now you both have developed an interest in Flora. Well... what am I going to do with you two?"

Mrs. Smith couldn't continue and had to conclude her words with a shake of her head.

Maxwell, sitting across from her with a calm expression, looked at her. Seeing her anxious and uneasy appearance, he spoke to reassure her, "Aunt, don't worry. We'll handle our affairs ourselves. You don't need to worry on the sidelines."

"Can I not worry?" Mrs. Smith smiled bitterly. "Young people like you are too emotionally impulsive. Sooner or later, something will go wrong. Maxwell, as the eldest son of the Smith Family, can't you be more accommodating?"

Maxwell was startled and asked in surprise, "Accommodating about what?"

At this point, Mrs. Smith had no choice but to speak frankly, "You should be able to see that Oliver loves Flora, and you already have Chiyoko. Just let Flora go to him and stop fighting over her."
