Chapter 121: Chapter 121
The men walked up to the car and politely knocked on the window where Flora was seated.
Flora reluctantly pressed down the window and forced a smile that was uglier than crying. Waving at them with a small hand, she greeted, "Hello, handsome..."
"Miss Flora, Mr. Maxwell would like you to visit the Smith Family mansion," one of the men respectfully said.
Flora's heart tightened and relaxed alternately. She stared blankly at them. Maxwell wanted her to visit the Smith Family mansion? Why? But... These two turned out to be Maxwell's people. Well, at least they weren't Japanese. That made her feel somewhat relieved.
"Hey, who is Mr. Maxwell?" Linda, seeing that the man looked good and had a good attitude, completely let go. She boldly asked, expecting them to be here for sexual purposes.
But unfortunately, the two men didn't answer her question. Instead, they urged, "Miss Flora, please."
"Why do I have to go to the Smith Family mansion?" Although she knew they wouldn't answer, Flora cautiously asked. Once she entered the Smith Family mansion, whether she could come out alive was uncertain!
"I'm sorry, Big Young Master didn't mention it," one of the men apologized.
Chloe, sitting in the front, could no longer contain her suspicions. She exclaimed, "Flora, what's going on? Do you know them?" She was considering whether to call the police or seek help!
"Know... but I don't want to meet him. Can't I just not go?" Flora stuttered. She didn't want to go!
"Miss Flora, please don't make it difficult for us. You know Big Young Master's temperament," the man's voice became more forceful.
Yes, Flora knew Maxwell's temperament all too well. If he wanted her to go, she had to go, or else...
Flora reluctantly pushed open the car door.
Chloe, seeing her compromise, exclaimed, "Hey... Flora, are you scared already? Seriously, you lack personality!"
Personality is useless in the face of challenging Maxwell's temperament. Flora sighed helplessly and said to her two friends, "You two go back first. If I come back alive, remember to set off fireworks to welcome me. And if I don't come back alive, at least send some fireworks as a farewell, got it?"
"Got it. You have a good time with Mr. Maxwell," Chloe didn't care at all about the grievance on her face.
Flora made a blood-curdling expression at her friends in the car. Unable to resist the repeated urging of the two men, she got into the adjacent luxury business car.
The man followed her into the car and quickly drove in another direction.
After over a month, Flora entered the luxurious mansion once again. Looking at the grand house standing in the middle of the garden, she couldn't help but feel a shiver in her heart. Painful memories rushed to her mind like waves, forcing her to remember the past.
This time, she wondered how much pain awaited her return. Hopefully, none. It had taken her a long time to develop even a tiny bit of goodwill towards Maxwell, and it instantly crumbled.
She was familiar with every inch of the Smith Family mansion, she could navigate the main house with her eyes closed. So, she quickly made her way to the second floor where Maxwell's bedroom was located. However, a maid who was tidying up the room informed her that the Big Young Master was waiting for her on the third floor.
The third floor!
Flora froze. It was like a hellish place! Wasn't it an area Maxwell never set foot in? Why would he wait for her on the third floor? Could it be...?
Flora shook her head, commanding herself not to overthink.
The last time she saw Maxwell, everything was fine. He even invited her to have lunch. For her, Maxwell inviting her to eat was truly unimaginable, and insane!
"Miss Flora, long time no see."
A familiar yet unfamiliar voice sounded, and Flora turned around to see the beautiful Chiyoko smiling at her. That smile was even more terrifying than the atmosphere on the third floor!
"Miss Chiyoko..." Flora called softly.
Miss Chiyoko had indeed been released, not confined to the third floor anymore! Was she free again, back to being Maxwell's fiance?
Flora felt a bit jealous, as she placed a hand on her abdomen. Uncomfortably, she forced a smile and said, "Hello, Miss Chiyoko."
"Why are you spacing out? Maxwell is on the third floor," Chiyoko said with a smile.
Just by seeing her smile, Flora felt that this encounter was more bad than good. She struggled to remember what she had done in these past days, hoping that she hadn't done anything to upset Maxwell or the Smith Family. Hopefully not!
Turning around, Flora walked towards the third floor with unsteady steps. In the corridor, only the wall lamps on both sides emitted a dim glow. The atmosphere was as eerie and terrifying as it was over a month ago when she first came up, with all the room doors tightly closed.
Flora walked slowly into the depths, finally seeing a bedroom with lights on and the door opened. It happened to be the room Chiyoko had previously occupied, or rather, had been imprisoned in.
Standing at the door, she knocked lightly before entering. The room was adequately lit, and due to her familiarity with its layout, Flora immediately spotted Maxwell on the terrace. He was currently standing there, observing the sky intently with an astronomical telescope. Flora recalled the first time she saw him, holding a telescope and looking at something.
So he had this hobby as well. Flora had to clear her throat to interrupt him, speaking with a voice that was neither soft nor loud, "Big Young Master, is there something you wanted to see me about?" She was incredibly nervous now, too nervous to accompany him in stargazing!
Without turning his head, Maxwell spoke, "Miss Flora, you've come?" His deep, pleasant voice made her heart feel cold. "Do you like this room? From now on, you'll be living here, hmm?"
Finishing his sentence, he released the telescope in his hand, stood up straight, and turned to face her. There was an air of tranquility before the storm on his face. This version of him was even scarier than when he was enraged. It was the feeling Flora had towards him.
Hearing his words, Flora was taken aback, and blurted out, "What are you saying?"
Why did she have to live here? How would she commute to work from so far away? Was he planning to imprison and torture her again?
"Since you don't want to live a carefree life, come back then. Come back here, no need to work, someone to take care of you every day, a worry-free life for a lifetime, isn't that great?" Maxwell sneered, stepping forward with his strong body, exerting a tremendous pressure that made it difficult for her to breathe, rendering her speechless.
She could only stare at him, watching his mouth moving and listening to his words, cold as ice, sharp as a knife!
"What... do you mean?" Flora opened her mouth, struggling to say, "You... want me to live here? Live in this room? Imprison me like you did with Chiyoko?"
She refused! She would rather die than live a life without seeing daylight! She had witnessed Chiyoko's terrible condition, how perfectly fine people could be driven insane!
