Chapter 110: Chapter 110

At the moment the door was pushed open, Maxwell's sharp gaze instinctively sharpened, focusing on her as if she were a dangerous intruder. Maxwell sat behind the desk with his eyes fixed on her, repeatedly cleaning the gun in his hand with a cloth, making it shine.

Upon seeing her, Maxwell's sharp gaze softened with a tinge of guilt, no longer as terrifyingly wary. Flora's face turned pale at the sight of the gun in his hand. The sound of a bullet-shattering glass echoed in her ears once again, a sound that seemed to come from another world, mixed with ominous significance, instantly claiming the souls of those two men!

She hadn't even had a chance to see how he had fired the gun. This man, she truly had to doubt whether he was even human! How could a normal person possess such astonishing skill? How could he appear so calm after killing them?

Flora's body trembled uncontrollably. It was difficult to imagine that after angering him so many times, she was still alive in this world. It was truly miraculous!

"What's the matter?" Maxwell stared at her, his eyes fixed on her, while absentmindedly wiping the gun in his hand with a cloth, which he then placed in the drawer of the desk.

"I...it's nothing. I thought you had left," Flora stared at him. Her mind was blank, and she couldn't come up with any excuses to hide her fear.

Maxwell smiled faintly, mocking her, "What? Are you scared?" he said, standing up from his chair and slowly walking towards her, stopping in front of her. He looked at her with a smirk, seemingly mocking her.

Flora looked up at him, staring blankly, and asked, "You killed them, how can you still be so brazen?" In his eyes, were human lives as insignificant as dirt? He truly was a bloodthirsty monster!

"What else can I do? Go into hiding or find a dark place to hide?" Maxwell asked with a playful smirk on his face.

"Shouldn't it be different? We live in a society governed by law," Flora said in a daze. "How can you be so contemptuous of the authority of the police? How can you..." Oh my god! Is this really how assassins operate? It's so cruel!

"It's just a few disobedient Japanese devils. What's there to be so surprised about?" Maxwell sneered, walking past her and standing in front of the floor-length mirror, undoing the buttons on his clothes with one hand, preparing to take a bath.

Flora stood behind him and spoke gratefully, staring at him, "Thank you for saving me." It had been so long, and she had been so shocked and scared that she hadn't had a chance to thank him. If he hadn't intervened, she wondered what would have happened to her at the hands of those two Japanese men.

Maxwell paused his undressing and glanced at her in the mirror, letting out a low chuckle without saying a word. Thanking him in such a gentle tone? Flora had never done that before. She had always been fierce and stubborn.

Flora didn't expect him to respond, she was just curious. She asked, "Why did those two Japanese men want to kill me? In my entire life, other than getting on your bad side, I haven't done anything to anyone!" After finishing her statement, she walked around to face him and stared at him, asking, "Can you please tell me?"

"Don't ask me this question, because I don't know!" Maxwell's face grew slightly gloomy. To avoid her questioning, he slipped into the bathroom.

And Flora was left outside the door, only hearing the sound of running water from inside.

She persistently asked loudly, "How is it possible that you don't know? Otherwise, why would you know that I was being kidnapped? Why did you come to save me?!"

He must know, that there is nothing in the underworld that he doesn't know, he just refuses to say it! Flora thought to herself.

Inside the bathroom, all she could hear was the sound of water, and Maxwell completely ignored her questions. So, Flora raised her voice and asked again, but still received no response. She looked around, preparing to get tough when she couldn't find anything to deal with him!

After searching around and finding nothing to use against him, Flora angrily sat on the bed. Suddenly, an idea flashed through her mind. With a sly smile, she quickly walked towards the balcony, as water valves are usually located there.

Sure enough! Flora triumphantly reached out her hand and decisively turned off the water valve. Let's see how he washes now! She returned to the bathroom door, where the sound of water could no longer be heard. Perfect!

Flora cleared her throat and threatened without fear, "If you insist on not telling me, then go to the balcony naked and turn on the water valve yourself. Oh, and I've also opened the curtains for a nice bath scene for the building across from us... Oh—!" Before she could finish speaking, Flora screamed and covered her face.

This shameless man stood naked in front of her after opening the bathroom door, she didn't expect he was so shameless!

Grabbing her arm, covered in bubbles, Maxwell forced her to turn around and stared at her angrily. "Go and turn on the water for me immediately, or else..." His clenched fist was raised in front of her, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't strike her.

Seeing his hesitation, Flora's trembling subsided slightly, and she fearlessly raised her face and stared at him with a look of undaunted determination. She shouted, "Or else what?! Are you going to kill me? If you want the water, go turn the valve on yourself!"

God knows how nervous she was right now, the gun... the shiny gun was still in the study! However, to figure out the inexplicable events of today, she had to suppress her fear and the urge to flee in panic!

"Fine!" Maxwell gritted his teeth as he stared at her. The bath foam slowly slid down his body, causing him to itch all over. This woman easily collapses at the sound of a gunshot, but she acts so arrogantly in front of him. It seems that he has been too good to her, which has inflated her morale!

"What do you want to know?" He tightened his grip on her hand, causing her teeth to ache and her eyes to roll back in pain.

Flora, enduring the pain, said to him, "How did you know that I was being kidnapped? And why did you save me? You have always hated me, haven't you?"

This was her biggest doubt, and when she asked the question, she surprisingly felt a small glimmer of hope, hoping that his foul mouth might say something nice and make her feel a little touched. Like... not wanting her to die.
