Chapter 102: Chapter 102
It was close to midnight, and the party was still bustling as Henry wandered through the crowd involuntarily. His heart was being drawn by something strange as if searching for something.
Yes, he was searching, searching for the woman who vaguely resembled Flora. Just moments ago, when he finished chatting with Mrs. Black, the two individuals who were passionately kissing each other mysteriously disappeared when he turned back around.
Even though he kept reminding himself that it couldn't be Flora, he couldn't help but become more observant of his surroundings, even beginning to search desperately. The longing for Flora compelled him to make these crazy actions time and time again.
Unfortunately, until the end of the event, he didn't see that light blue figure again. Henry closed his eyes with a sense of disappointment. Unwilling to accept defeat, he walked to the registration booth near the entrance and quietly exchanged his check for the registration list of the day. Carefully browsing through it, he didn't see the name 'Flora White.'
"Sir, who are you looking for?" the service attendant who received the check politely asked.
"Is there a girl named Flora White attending the banquet? She was wearing a light blue evening dress and a pair of oversized sunglasses," Henry persisted, as he only caught a glimpse of the girl's large glasses.
The service attendant thought for a moment and suddenly realized, smiling brightly, "I know who you're looking for, it's Mr. Kevin's companion, right?" She then bent down and searched the registration list, finding the name 'Irma Brown' under Kevin's entry. She stood up, saying, "But her name is not Flora White, it's Irma Brown."
She remembered Irma Brown because she was the most peculiar person at the entire party, covering her pretty face with oversized glasses while other beauties wanted other men to see them.
On the other hand, she also knew about Irma Brown's special role as Kevin's companion, having picked up a lot of gossip during her time at the Alma Hotel, including the pursuit of Kevin by Miss Betsy.
Full of curiosity, she deliberately paid attention to Flora and therefore remembered her approximate appearance.
However, her words poured cold water over Henry's head, extinguishing the small hope he had. It was like pouring salt on wounds that had never healed, causing unbearable pain!
"Henry!" Mr. White, who was searching for him, suddenly approached and vaguely overheard his conversation with the service attendant. He reproached somewhat displeasedly, "Why have you been running around all night? Are you foolishly looking for Flora again?"
"Dad, do you need something?" Henry asked calmly. He had always been dissatisfied with the way his parents treated Flora. They shouldn't just ignore her disappearance!
"Go inside and stop wasting your time and energy like this. If Flora were still alive, she would have already come back," Mr. White said discontentedly. After speaking, he grabbed Henry's hand and pulled him towards the inside.
With anger, Henry's voice grew even colder as he pulled his hand back and said, "Dad, it's already late. I'm going home first. If you don't want to leave, then leave later with Abner." Abner was Henry's assistant and had accompanied him as his temporary companion.
Mr. White was taken aback and before he could reprimand Henry, he had already turned and walked towards the hotel entrance. Staring at his departing figure, Mr. White was infuriated, gritting his teeth and cursing this his son in his heart! He always knew how to oppose him in every aspect!
The next morning, Flora woke up to a glaring light. She opened her eyes faintly and was startled to see the sun shining into the room.
Jumping out of bed, she exclaimed, "Oh no! I'm late!"
She glanced around the unfamiliar room, and the events of the previous night instantly came rushing back to her. The dinner party, Henry, Maxwell... Oh my god!
Looking down, she noticed a few faint purple marks on her bare body. That damn jerk had left those disgusting marks on her again! Flora angrily grabbed her hair and shouted, "Maxwell! I curse you and your offspring!"
No! She couldn't curse him like that! Flora suddenly realized and instinctively placed her hands on her abdomen. The baby had to be safe and healthy, so she couldn't curse that man and his offspring!
Just as she finished shouting, Maxwell, who had just finished showering in the bathroom, walked out. He was still only wrapped in a towel, his muscular body looking sexy and alluring. His eyes unabashedly fell on Flora's exposed body, and he raised an eyebrow with an ambiguous smile.
"Practicing vocal exercises early in the morning, is interesting, isn't it?"
Flora, who had just woken up, had no idea that this man would be in the bathroom. She quickly grabbed the nearby bedsheet and wrapped it around herself, staring at him and stuttering, "You... why are you still here?"
"I was waiting for you to wake up," Maxwell casually replied, walking to the closet and picking out a dark-colored shirt to put on, followed by pants...
Flora's face turned red, and she turned her back to him, unable to look any further.
With her back turned to him, Flora demanded, "Hurry up and get dressed, then leave. I need to change my clothes." Oh... there were only five minutes left until she had to go to work. She was going to be late today. Oh heavens! She hoped that Chloe wouldn't bite her head off!
After speaking, Flora suddenly realized that she didn't have any clothes to change into. She quickly turned around, glaring at Maxwell, and said, "You soaked my clothes. How am I supposed to leave this hotel and go to work!?"
Maxwell remained nonchalant, casually tidying his clothes as he said, "Then just stay here and don't go out. After all, I don't like your job. You should quit as soon as possible." Yes, he didn't want her to continue working with Kevin!
"Are you a gangster? Why should my job depend on your liking?!" Flora exclaimed angrily, frustrated with this domineering man. Although she knew provoking him was like seeking death, she couldn't control herself any longer.
Maxwell suddenly spun around, pulling her into his embrace along with the bedsheets, and sneered, "Since you're my woman, so naturally your job can only be liked by me." As he spoke, he leaned down and lightly bit her neck.
"You...," Flora winced in pain, taking a shallow breath. But she didn't care, still retorting on the previous topic, "I was forced by you, forced to become your woman, but I still have to support myself, I still have to work!"
Maxwell's face darkened slightly, seemingly displeased with her choice of words, and said calmly, "Is that so? Then let me make you feel that it's not coercion, but a game we both enjoy in bed."
