Chapter 8: Chapter 8
Vic found out about the royal stuff and was not happy. Only mum seemed to be happy. She danced around the house humming a nonexistent tune.
I staggered in a daze to school not giving a damn if I got there late. I received a late pass from the hall monitor and went to the school nurse for some pain killers.
I think I need some emotion pain killers too. My life is ruined.
Why me?
Wait, his royal jerkyness has a girlfriend somewhere. He could marry her and leave me out of this stupid issue. I could tell him. He could be my escape from marrying him. Like seriously, who would want to marry me?
With a smile and determination on my face, I skipped to class.
After two hours had passed and there was no sign of a teacher coming, I shot up from my seat.
"Where are you going to?" asked Henry.
"Bathroom," I lied.
I hurried out of class before he could ask any more questions. I was going to find his Royal highness and put an end to this charade.
I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. For me.
I spotted him talking to his friends. I took a step then another. He whirled around and saw me going to him. He seemed confused for a second before sending a death glare.
My courage and determination shriveled up like a dead plant.
Message received.
I spun on my heels and hurried away as fast as I could. How could I talk to someone who does not like the sight of me?
I can't do it. I can't.
I can't talk to someone who looks down his nose at me in disgust. I can't talk to someone who hates me without knowing me. I can't talk to someone who gives money to shut me up. I have got to swallow the painful pill given to me.
A boy suddenly appeared in front of me. He looked me over and asked, "Anna Bill, right?"
"Uh yes, can I help you?"
"Yeah," He nodded. "Mr... " He closed his eyes as though trying to remember, "Mr Dean said to see him at the teacher's lounge. Something about a project?"
"Oh okay. Thanks-"
"Yeah sure-" He nodded. "Hey Sam," he walked away to a scrawny boy who was talking to a girl.
A chorus of laughter danced its way to my ears. I turned slightly and saw the popular kids with the Prince in tow coming my way.
Guess talking to him would have to wait.
I strolled away to the teachers lounge to see to whatever Mr Dean needed me for. When I got there, Miss Joy was present with the music director. She told me Mr Dean had retired to his office some minutes ago.
I knocked on his office door and pushed it open. Henry was sat across from him. They both had a frown on their faces making the tension cloud around them. Henry's head slowly turned and met with my face. He replaced his frown with his usual charming smile. I returned his smile and made a mental note to ask him what was up.
"You called for me, Mr Dean?" I said regarding the two.
"Ah, yes. I need you two to help me sort out these papers. I will be back in a few, that annoying bastard called a meeting. On a Wednesday!" He paused and wagged his finger at us, "You two should never speak of what I said about the Principal. Understood?"
"Yes sir." I nodded fighting the urge to roll my eyes. The fact that the Principal was an annoying bastard was not secret.
He left closing the door behind him.
"What were you two talking about when I entered? Seemed pretty intense."
"Oh, that. Something about my mom," He answered and sat at the seat Mr Dean just vacated.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. So what do you think of Crown Prince Nolan? I'm surprised he is in our school."
I groaned, disgusted. "I don't like him much. He seems like an egositical person and I don't care much for people like that."
He smiled, "But I got a huge ego too. You don't like me?"
"Aw, come on. You are sweet, nice and kind. Not like him." My lips curled in a nasty snarl at the thought of the Prince. "In fact, you are way more handsome than him."
He propped his elbow on the desk and grinned, "Even if I have just one fan girl and she is you, I'm glad to be handsome." He winked.
Stop, you treacherous heart. Stop, you treacherous cheeks. I gave in to my treacherous body and continued flirting with Henry while I duplicated the papers at the printer and sorted them out.
