Chapter 44: Chapter 44

During class I trained my mind to focus, before this time I didn't let anything get in the way of my learning, so my mind already knew it wasn't supposed to get distracted by anything. Not even the beautiful boy that made my heart race, not even the kiss that still brought goosebumps to my skin each time I remembered it, not even the cold look in his eyes that raised the hairs on my hand and not in a good way.

We sat on our usual table during lunch time. All of us quiet, lost in our thoughts, because Joseph Wilson had put us all in a state of confusion.

"You are playing with your food." Andrina commented.

I looked down at my bread sticks, I had only nibbled on the tip. Sighing, I put it back down. I didn't have an appetite.

"What could have gone wrong between yesterday night and this morning? It was only a few hours apart and he has already grown cold." I say in frustration.

Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes... What could I have done wrong?

"Hey, hey, it's okay... We just need to find him and ask him what exactly is going on. Okay? Don't cry." Sophie said rubbing my back sootheningly.

I flashed her a weak smile. But she returned a strong one to me.

""What do you have after lunch?" Andrina asked

"I have to go to the journalism club, we have our first meeting today." I say tiredly.

"Andrina and I have free period. We will help you find him okay?"

I looked at them sweetly.

"Thanks you guys, I don't know what I'd do without you."

"Nothing dear, you'd do nothing. Let's hope we find him though, he has a knack for hiding perfectly well."

I nod in agreement with her last statement, I know how it is to find him.

"Are you eating that?" Sophie asked pointing at my bread sticks. I give it to her just as the bell rings.

Navigating through the student body and to the journalism club building wasn't hard, as I had a lot on my mind I just walked through.

I was among the first ones to get there. Only two students were sitted, they already picked a cubicle. I sighted one cubicle, it was close to the window, I liked it instantly. Walking towards it, I make it mine.

"Hey Carrie!" I hear Lucy greet.

My mood perk up immediately, she was also someone that could give me a clue about what was going on with her brother. She was there when I left yesterday.

"Hi Lucy! How are you?" I ask as I walked to her.

"I'm great, I'm so pumped now that I have humans in here with me." She said excitedly as she looked around..

"Uhm Lucy.. do you know what happened with Joseph? I don't know what's going on... But he suddenly grew cold towards me this morning. Even after yesterday night..." I whisper in desperation. She had to know what was going on.

Her countenance changed.

"It'll be better it came from him rather than me, now go back to your seat so we can start." Her tone was different. She clamped up too.

As I walked back to my seat, I wondered what was wrong with the Wilson siblings.

The club room became full after a while. Lucy was bouncy again.

"Alright, it's time we begin. I'm sure you all know me by now. My name is Lucy A. Wilson. I'm the co ordinator of this club. Thank you for choosing journalism club, it wouldn't be here if you didn't. I'd also like to welcome a new member to our club. He registered late because of unforeseen circumstances. But he is here now. Joseph, please come in." She said smiling.

My heart jumped. I found him first. He walked into the room. His face was passive. Expression was unreadable. But he was still beautiful. The girls in the club knew it too because they started to whisper.

"Go sit close to Carolyn there." She pointed at the empty cubicle next to mine.

He didn't look at me, he just walked straight to the seat and plopped down on it. Meanwhile, my heart was aiming to fly out of my chest.

"Okay, that's it, we are good to begin. We all know what journalism is right? Well the principal has assigned the school a weekly article. Which means every week we get to provide an article that the whole school will come across." She announced.

That was a nice idea, we clapped. She was full of smiles.

"We need to get ourselves in a group of two's, everyone find a partner."

I turned sharply to him, I didn't want any of those girls to be his partner.

"Partner?" I asked.

He gave a minute nod, so minute I nearly missed it. But it made me really happy. But he still kept his poker face on.

"Alright, one from each group should come and register your names, so I can assign one week to one group."

I went forward and registered both our names because it seemed he wasn't going to do it.

"Great, now here is how it will go. I'll make a duty roaster, with a team each week. When it's your week, I expect you rock the entire school with your article. Any questions?"

A student from the tenth grade raised her hand.

"Yes Greta?" Lucy asked.

"For the article, are we supposed to choose our topics? Or you'll give them to us?"

"Well it's your choice, it's your idea run wild with it." Lucy said smiling.

"The duty roaster will be out by tomorrow, and the article is expected every Friday." She announced.

I nodded, that was fair.

"Any other questions?"

When there was none, she dismissed us. I stood up slowly. Waiting for every one to leave so I could talk to him privately.

It was only the three of us in the office.

"I enjoyed today's session." I tell Lucy, racking my brain for small talk with her brother.

"Thanks Carolyn." She said smiling really wide.

"I'm going to the elderlies home today.. it's been a while... Want to come with?" I asked him.

He looked at me and nodded. His eyes weren't hard anymore. More than anything they looked relieved.

I was so happy I would have jumped out of my skin.

"Let's go." I say leading the way.

Before I left, I sent a quick text to my best friends,

"Met him in the journalism club, we are going to the elderlies home now." I kept it short so it won't be obvious I was talking about him.

Few seconds later my phone dinged,

"Elderlies home is not second date material!" It was from Sophie. I laughed a bit. But I didn't respond.

"Do you want to walk or we should take a cab?" I asked him.

He looked at the skies.

"The weather is nice.. let's walk." That was the only thing he said since yesterday but I felt so happy.

I nodded.

"Did I do something wrong? Did I get you in trouble with Lucy for sneaking in?" I asked.

He looked at me, but we didn't stop walking.

"No you didn't.."

"Then what's going on?" I ask.

But we were already in front of the elderlies home. I got distracted by the nostalgic feeling I was getting. I missed here so much.

I almost ran inside.

"Hey guys! I'm here!! And I brought a visitor!!" I say as I got into the common room.

"Oh my goodness, he is a looker. Carolyn is this the guy that made you cream everywhere the first time you met him?"

That was the most embarrassing thing to happen to me. Ever.
