Chapter 354: Chapter 354
"You..." Bei Ran’s words were essentially saying that the HR department was incompetent and didn’t have enough talent to take on cases, indicating that she herself was overworked.
Pan Yutao naturally defended Bei Ran; not only was she Tang Baijin’s ex-girlfriend, but also the ex-wife of the prestigious young master of the Gu family. Either title was more than enough reason for her modest wedding planning company not to provoke her.
"Miss Bei worked overtime until late last night, and I assigned a last-minute case for you to plan, my apologies for the inconvenience!" Pan Yutao immediately spoke with a pleasant demeanor, "Take some time off to rest after you finish these few big cases on hand."
Then, Pan Yutao sternly said to Lu Yaxin: "The HR department should really recruit more talented and hardworking employees like Miss Bei! What is the responsibility of your department?"
Lu Yaxin, scolded by Pan Yutao, didn’t dare to speak up.
Su Dingmiao, the manager of the planning and hosting department, while Bei Ran was her most capable subordinate. On the surface, Su Dingmiao, just like Pan Yutao, was protective of Bei Ran.
After the meeting ended, the last to leave the conference room was Su Dingmiao. Although Bei Ran was dozing off, she knew that Su Dingmiao had something to discuss with her.
"Manager Su, I’m sorry, I’m not in the best state at work today!" Bei Ran was a smooth operator. Although Pan Yutao shielded her, that didn’t mean she could do whatever she wanted.
Su Dingmiao gazed at her: "Hmm, you’ve got too many cases on your hands. You can pass some of them on to your colleagues in other teams."
Bei Ran mused internally that all her cases were assignments from Pan Yutao aimed at leveraging her reputation.
Clearly, these assignments had bypassed Su Dingmiao, the manager, making her feel as though Bei Ran was above her authority.
Too much achievement overshadows the master, and there’s only one possible outcome: the resourceful hare is dead, the loyal dog gets cooked.
Bei Ran was astute enough to realize this, and she said with a smile: "It’s rare to meet a supervisor like Manager Su who understands her employees. I’ll immediately sort out the cases I have and pass them on to colleagues in other teams."
"Miss Bei is a smart person. Standing out alone is not spring; if the tree protrudes from the forest, the wind will certainly break it," Su Dingmiao spoke in her usual calm tone.
Bei Ran still responded with a smile: "Manager Su is right, a hundred flowers blooming is truly spring."
Su Dingmiao stood up, "Good that you understand!"
After finishing her words, Su Dingmiao left. Bei Ran organized her files and then left the conference room as well, returning to her office.
However, upon entering her office, Bei Ran was utterly astounded.
Because there in her office was a man, lounging comfortably on the sofa.
She observed him: a pristine white shirt, a blue and white striped tie, black trousers – a classic combination that nonetheless exhibited the person’s extraordinary and incomparable dignity.
When Bei Ran came in, he was perusing the fashion magazines on her desk.
At the sound of the door opening, he looked up and their eyes met.
Bei Ran, in her business suit, had her hair neatly done up, with a slim belt around the waist of her blazer, accentuating her lithe figure to a softly gripping narrowness.
Her knee-length business skirt perfectly hugged her ****, her long and straight legs demurely on display before his eyes.
Gu Qingchen had seen her in professional attire before, and now his deep eyes were fixed on her.
Bei Ran felt somewhat embarrassed by his gaze; the images from last night were still fresh in her mind, not yet faded, and seeing him now, especially in her office, how could she remain composed!
Still, she approached him.
Gu Qingchen looked at her blushing, cute demeanor with great amusement and said: "Don’t recognize me anymore?"
Despite feeling bashful in his presence, Bei Ran responded smartly: "Hello, Mr. Gu, how may I assist you?"
"Make me a cup of tea," Gu Qingchen replied with a slight smile.
"Just a moment!" Bei Ran went to the tea room but found none of Gu Qingchen’s preferred tea leaves. Reluctantly, she brewed a cup of tea anyway.
Gu Qingchen was a demanding man to serve. "I don’t settle for just okay!"
"We really don’t have any left..." Bei Ran glanced at him.
Gu Qingchen commanded assertively: "Buy some tomorrow!"
"I’ll be coming here every day," Gu Qingchen added.
Bei Ran’s almond eyes widened even further!
Gu Qingchen looked into her eyes: "So busy yourself, yet you send an assistant off to date? Such a competent boss you are!"
Bei Ran knew he probably ran into Qiao Peitian and Wu Kang, "Has he finished all his duties? Did you run into them?"
"Forensic Psychiatrist Qiao Xiaoyan produced a false report asserting Song Xuyao had a mental illness, but Situ Rui and other forensic experts reassessed and found Song Xuyao had no mental illness, and during his escape, he took Qiao Xiaoyan hostage. She was injured, and Song Xuyao fled. Qiao Peitian, her sister, visited the hospital," Gu Qingchen succinctly explained. "I’ll drive you to and from work every day."
Bei Ran lamented that love truly brings trouble, not only had Tang Yanran altered doctors’ reports for love, but Qiao Xiaoyan did the same.
"With Song Xuyao on the run, he’s unlikely to come after me; he just wants to find Qin Shan to avenge Song Chenxi!" Bei Ran analyzed, "You’re so busy at the hospital and can’t leave when there’s an emergency. I’ll be fine!"
At this, Gu Qingchen fixed his deep eyes on her like the Aegean Sea, "No matter how busy the hospital is or how many emergencies there are, you’re the most important thing in my heart."
Bei Ran never asked for much from him. She always considered him; hospital work is hectic, emergencies abound, and with the medical resources of A-city being insufficient, doctors work overtime. She understood and deeply cared for him as a doctor.
But at this moment, she heard from him that in his heart, she was more important than his job!
Gu Qingchen then pulled her to sit beside him, studying her sleep-deprived eyes, "Like a little panda!"
Feeling shy, Bei Ran glanced at him: "Guess whose fault is that?"
Recalling last night, how he made her scream without reserve, her face flushed with embarrassment. No wonder they say doctors know the human body all too well...
