Chapter 260: Chapter 260
There was a cut on Gu Changqing’s forehead, making him look a little disheveled. Bo Xichen smiled faintly. "Did you come to get that bandaged?"
Gu Changqing smiled nonchalantly. "This little scratch doesn’t need bandaging! I came for dinner."
With that, he went and sat beside Gu Anxi. "Anxi, get your brother a bowl of rice."
Gu Anxi acknowledged with an "Oh" and hurried into the kitchen to fetch him a bowl.
Bo Xichen chuckled, sitting opposite them. "You certainly have a way with her. Anxi has never served me rice like that."
Gu Changqing wiped the blood from his forehead with a tissue. "Bo Xichen, you’re living quite humbly, aren’t you!"
Bo Xichen merely chuckled.
Gu Changqing looked at him, then said, a little dispirited, "Never mind what I said."
While they were talking, Gu Anxi brought the bowl of rice to Gu Changqing and set it before him.
Gu Changqing glanced at her silently. Perhaps because I was reminiscing about the past today... I just feel different looking at her.
Gu Anxi also ate her rice quietly, occasionally peeking at Gu Changqing.
If I didn’t know they were brother and sister, Bo Xichen thought, I’d have kicked Gu Changqing out by now.
Fortunately, Gu Changqing didn’t plan to stay long. After finishing his meal, he wiped his lips and gently patted his sister’s small head. "See you in Beicheng."
Gu Anxi nodded obediently. "Okay. See you in Beicheng."
Gu Changqing left quickly, with Bo Xichen seeing him off.
When Bo Xichen returned, he found Gu Anxi sitting on the sofa, staring into space. He sat down beside her. "What’s wrong?"
Gu Anxi rested her small head on his shoulder. "Bo Xichen, I can’t shake this feeling that Gu Changqing might not be happy, and it could be because of me."
"Hmm?" His voice was gentle. "Why would you think that?"
"It’s just a feeling." She looked up and smiled at him. "Bo Xichen, are you happy?"
He pressed her against the back of the sofa, murmuring, "Whether I’m happy or not, don’t you know?"
Gu Anxi’s face grew warm. "Why do you always have to bring *that* up?"
"Bring what up, hmm?" They hadn’t been alone for a long time, and desire inevitably stirred within him.
Gu Anxi’s fingers toyed with a button on his shirt, her gaze lowered, eyelashes fluttering softly.
It was a wonderfully relaxing moment. Bo Xichen’s voice grew a little huskier. "Gu Anxi, do you want to get married?"
Gu Anxi was taken aback. "Why are you suddenly thinking about marriage?"
She tried to lift her head, but his hand pressed lightly on her shoulder. It seemed gentle, yet it was undeniably firm.
She could only say softly, "Isn’t everything fine as it is now?"
He leaned down, his warm breath brushing her ear as he whispered, "It’s *me* who wants to get married."
Gu Anxi’s eyes widened, and then she burst out laughing.
He laughed too, pulling her up and ruffling her hair. "Alright, we’ll talk about it after you graduate."
Gu Anxi sat cross-legged on the sofa and opened a bag of snacks. "Bo Xichen, I didn’t realize you could be impulsive too."
A warmth flickered in his eyes as he uttered softly, "Because it’s you."
With that, he stood up. It was daytime, and she was still so young—Dr. Bo reconsidered and still felt it wasn’t appropriate.
As he headed to his lab, Gu Anxi called out from behind him, "Was that a confession?"
"What do you think, Gu Anxi?" He actually turned back, caught her, and gave her a playful little punishment.
When he finally released her, both wore expressions of contentment. Their foreheads touched, his breathing slightly uneven. "Is this how you wanted me to treat you?"
Seeing he showed no signs of stopping, Gu Anxi resorted to acting cute, begging for mercy, and praising him until he finally relented and went to his lab.
Gu Anxi continued eating her snacks. Once she finished, she drew a few comic strips and uploaded them. She hadn’t even looked at the comments when Director Li arrived.
This time, Little Li didn’t come alone; his wife was with him. They were laden with various supplements and fruits.
Gu Anxi welcomed them in without putting on any airs and asked directly what they wanted.
Director Li looked at his wife.
His wife looked back at Little Li, then said gently, "I’ve heard so much about your accomplishments from my husband, Old Li, and I’ve been truly eager to meet you..."
Gu Anxi coughed lightly. "Please, just call me Anxi. You’re Wang Qin’s godmother, so you’re an elder to me."
Putting on airs is fine in public, but having two people nearly fifty years old call her ’Chairman’ repeatedly in private? That’s a bit much!
Director Li’s wife sighed in relief. "Then I’ll do that."
Little Li, however, was extremely alarmed. He gently gestured to stop his wife and whispered, "The Chairman is just being polite. You shouldn’t take it so literally, dear."
Director Li’s wife immediately corrected herself. "Perhaps it’s better if I call you Chairman."
Gu Anxi looked at Director Li. "Well, then we can’t have a normal conversation."
Hearing this, Little Li was dumbfounded.
Director Li’s wife, however, was quick-witted. She warmly took Gu Anxi’s hand. "Then I’ll call you Anxi. It’s : our Wang Qin heard you’re going to Beicheng, and she came home crying several times..."
People adept at navigating these situations often speak suggestively, leaving much unsaid.
Gu Anxi naturally understood. "She wants to go to North City University too?"
Actually, with Director Li’s connections, getting Wang Qin into North City University wouldn’t be difficult at all. Coming to her now clearly meant he had other ideas—Little Li, perhaps fearing that pressing his own ambitions further might lead to their complete ruin, instead aimed to make his child a constant fixture by Gu Anxi’s side—a sort of living reminder.
Just imagine, whenever the Chairman saw Wang Qin, wouldn’t she be reminded of Little Li?
Of course, Wang Qin genuinely had cried several times, and her desire to go to North City University was also real. When young girls get along well, they want to stay together; parents should naturally try their best to make it happen, right?
Seeing Director Li and his wife looking at her so eagerly, Gu Anxi smiled. "If she wants to go, of course, there’s no problem... but..."
Little Li immediately interjected, "We’ll arrange her accommodation properly and even assign a secretary to go with her. Please rest assured, Chairman, Wang Qin will absolutely not disturb your private life."
Gu Anxi thought, What in the world is he talking about?
Little Li had, in fact, heard the rumors. The Chairman was impressive, but her methods for finding a boyfriend were even more so. Dıscover more novels at 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⚫𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦⚫𝘯𝘦𝘵
Professor Bo was that revered figure in Beicheng. It wasn’t just Little Li; wasn’t every influential figure, big or small, in Qingcheng trying to curry favor with Professor Bo?
Hadn’t Mayor Lin presented a Jade Ruyi a while ago?
He’d heard Mayor Lin was due for a transfer to the provincial level soon. It seemed this Jade Ruyi had truly earned Professor Bo’s appreciation!
Indeed, catering to his preferences was paramount now!
Little Li’s sharp eyes scanned the room and spotted the Jade Ruyi being used as a paperweight on the desk.
Little Li marveled silently, As expected of a powerful and prestigious family! To think an item from the imperial palace would be so casually placed on a desk.
Wanting to curry favor, Little Li rose, picked up the Jade Ruyi, and, feigning expertise while admiring it, said, "This Jade Ruyi is truly a magnificent piece. I heard it was an item a certain emperor particularly enjoyed admiring with his consorts. Yet, here on Professor Bo’s desk, it’s treated as a common little trinket. Such discerning taste... it truly makes me feel inadequate."
