Chapter 184: Chapter 184
Bo Xichen whispered in her ear, his voice rather provocative, "Will you come back with me tonight, hmm?"
Gu Anxi’s face flushed slightly, and she averted her gaze unnaturally. "I need to stay with my mom; she needs me." ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⟡𝘧𝙞𝙧𝙚⟡𝘯𝘦𝘵
"You have Granny Chen," he murmured, his deep voice even more tempting. "Gu Anxi, I need you too."
Gu Anxi’s face burned, and she stuttered, "But you have Feng Mian!"
Dr. Bo thought of something and let out a soft laugh, relaxing his grip on her without forcing the issue.
Seeing he wasn’t angry, and thinking he was probably too tolerant and good-natured, Gu Anxi gave him a hug. "Uncle Bo, this is my reward for you."
Bo Xichen looked down and smiled. "Gu Anxi, the reward I want is more than just this."
"Tell me," she said, completely unguarded.
He only said a few words, and Gu Anxi buried her face even deeper. "You’re not allowed to say that."
Bo Xichen touched her head. "I was just teasing you! I have some things to take care of later. Spend some quality time with Granny Chen and your mom tonight; you three haven’t been together in a long time. I’ll pick you up for school tomorrow morning, okay?"
After Gu Anxi agreed, she asked, "Won’t that be too tiring for you?"
"Then should I stay here?" Bo Xichen smiled.
Thinking of the scene in the Orchid Room, Gu Anxi immediately refused, "No, no, it’s fine!"
Bo Xichen opened the car door and got in. As he started the car, he rolled down the window. "Come here."
She obediently went over and leaned on the car window. Bo Xichen’s head was quite close to hers. He’s going to kiss me, she thought. But he just asked softly, "Does it still hurt?"
Gu Anxi was speechless.
She took a step back, her face burning.
Just then, Wang Keru finished her chores and came over. "Is Xichen leaving? Why not stay for a quick dinner before you go?"
Out of respect for his elders, Bo Xichen got out of the car. His tall, handsome figure was particularly striking in the gathering dusk. He exchanged a few more words with Wang Keru before leaving.
Wang Keru stared at the car, worth over twenty million, and pinched her arm hard. Am I dreaming?
Gu Anxi lowered her gaze and spoke softly, "Mom, this is just the beginning."
Wang Keru’s spirits lifted at her words. "Right, just the beginning."
She took her daughter back inside. Finding a private place, she told Gu Anxi everything she knew about Qin Han’s dealings, hoping it would help her.
Gu Anxi, however, just wanted her mother to be happy and enjoy her life as Mrs. Gu. She told her to leave everything else to her.
Looking at her young daughter, Wang Keru still felt a sense of disbelief. How did this girl become so capable all of a sudden? she wondered. She had once considered supporting Anxi by washing dishes and picking vegetables, but now she was too embarrassed to even mention it.
At dinner that night, the conversation inevitably turned to the Qin family.
Granny Chen, ever sharp, spoke up, "They’re just a bunch of good-for-nothings, only able to feel pleased with themselves here in Qingcheng."
With that, she put down her bowl and chopsticks and looked at Wang Keru. "From now on, I’ll keep you company. Anxi doesn’t need to monopolize you. Let the young couple spend some quality time together."
Wang Keru looked utterly innocent. When did I ever monopolize her? And what on earth did Granny Chen mean by ’keeping her company’?
Did Xichen perform some kind of courage transplant on Granny Chen during her hospital stay? As Wang Keru was carefully pondering this, Granny Chen’s sharp gaze swept over her. "Do you have any objections?"
Wang Keru ate another bowl of rice. "I wouldn’t dare object to you!"
Everything’s upside down! I have no status in this family anymore!
Granny Chen said nothing more and continued eating.
