Chapter 174: Chapter 174

While the Qin family was secretly plotting, the VIP room in the Cloud Peak Hotel was filled with joy and laughter.

The things Wang Keru had worried about never happened. The Bo family treated Gu Anxi extraordinarily well, and so did her teacher and his wife, who doted on her.

Anxi... seemed very familiar with all of them, showing no signs of estrangement. This surprised Wang Keru once again. Googlᴇ search 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝⟡𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕥⟡𝕟𝕖𝕥

She later found out that Anxi had been visiting Beicheng for a few days each month since childhood for various training sessions and competitions. Realizing this now, Wang Keru felt somewhat ashamed.

Gu Anxi calmly said it was no big deal and that there was always the future.

The meal was enjoyable, and no one brought up the Qin family to spoil the mood.

After the meal, Bo Xichen’s mother and Gu Anxi’s teacher’s wife took Wang Keru to the hotel’s most luxurious beauty salon for facial and body treatments. Meanwhile, Bo Xichen’s father and Mr. He continued to drink and appreciate the painting Bo Xichen had bought. Bo Xichen’s father adored it.

"This painting by our Anxi is simply too good." Bo Xichen’s father carried it everywhere, admiring it with Mr. He through a magnifying glass. While doing so, he casually asked, "Isn’t there another one?"

Mr. He was taken aback. "Didn’t Xichen tell you? We set a trap and had the Qin family buy it."

Bo Xichen’s father glanced at his son, an exasperated expression on his face.

Bo Xichen smiled. "It was Anxi’s idea. She might have some matters to settle with the Qin family later. She said she would buy the painting back at half price within a month and give it to you."

"WAH! WAH!" Mr. He exclaimed. "Our Anxi is so ambitious! That sounds amazing."

He nudged Bo Xichen’s father. "Hey, my little disciple is pretty capable, isn’t she? Courageous and resourceful, nothing’s beyond her."

While engrossed in admiring the painting, Bo Xichen’s father agreed, "It’s just a pity we missed out last night. We should have gone together."

He had originally wanted to give the young couple some time alone, but in doing so, he had missed witnessing their Anxi’s brilliance. Bo Xichen’s father felt quite regretful.

Mr. He, beaming with pride again, glanced at Bo Xichen and Gu Anxi and shooed them away. "Go on, go on. Go enjoy a romantic evening together."

Bo Xichen chuckled and put his arm around Gu Anxi. "I’ll take you for a walk around."

The two of them went downstairs and got into Bo Xichen’s car. They took a leisurely drive around the city, as they were due to return to Qingcheng the next day.

Along the way, Bo Xichen received a call. It was Gu Changqing, who said he was at Emperors in Beicheng and wanted to see Gu Anxi.

Bo Xichen hung up and looked at her. "Gu Changqing. Do you want to meet him?"

Gu Anxi tilted her small head. "You’re not angry?"

Bo Xichen kept one hand on the steering wheel and freed the other to gently ruffle her hair. "What are you thinking? His fiancée, Ding Ning, will be there too."

Gu Anxi murmured an "oh" of understanding. Bo Xichen smiled again but said nothing more.

He had previously heard that the Gu family had lost a treasure. From Gu Changqing’s attitude, he had a rough idea of what had happened. But since Gu Changqing didn’t intend to clarify, Bo Xichen decided not to press the issue.

Besides, someone as smart as Gu Anxi couldn’t possibly be completely oblivious. If there were no connection, why would anyone just hand over Emperors, a place worth several hundred million, so easily?

He had initially been a little worried about her, afraid she might try to get to the bottom of things. But she seemed uninterested in any particular truth, content to be Wang Keru’s daughter, which was also good.

The drive took about half an hour before they arrived at Emperors in Beicheng.

Gu Changqing was there, and so was his fiancée, Ding Ning. Ding Ning was a very professional-looking and, of course, stunning woman. She seemed somewhat cold and distant; her marriage to Gu Changqing was one of convenience, with no love between them.
