Chapter 50: Chapter 50

[Malia’s POV]

Slowly, my eyes opened and I woke up to see the Alpha King staring at me with wide eyes, and I spotted his lips grow into a smile the moment he saw I was awake.

I forced a smile at him, shifting uneasily in the bed I could tell wasn’t mine, and as my eyes darted all over, it was clear that I was in the infirmary and that was when I remembered suddenly being overcome by extreme dizziness and I could recall collapsing as a result of it.

“You’re awake, my Luna,” the Alpha said, squeezing my hands warmly.

Although weak, I managed to sit up and he helped me out, then tucked away a strand of shiny auburn hair from my face.

“I’m sorry to have caused you so much worry, Tee. Tell me, how long was I out?” I asked.

“Just a few hours, but it’s all good. The worry you caused me only lasted for a few minutes and it has been replaced with great news,” he said, with more excitement than he had possessed in the last couple of years.

“What do you mean?” I inquired, filled with curiosity.

He lifted my hand to his lips and kissed it softly. “You are with child, my Luna,” he revealed.

My eyes bulged wide with immense joy that I couldn’t contain. “I… I am pregnant? Like, pregnant with your child?” I asked happily, as the weakness I had been feeling suddenly disappeared

.

“Yes, my love, you are! The Pack’s doctor has predicted that it will be a boy, hopefully one who looks as beautiful as you and takes after my strong and dominant nature… he’ll be a brave leader, my son; our son,” he said, smiling even more brightly.

Tears of joy fell from my eyes and I moved closer to hug him tightly. I couldn’t believe it. We had been married for just a month, and I had already given him the one thing he wanted desperately in the world.

“Perhaps, my love, I’d take your advice to stop waging war against other werewolf Packs, so I can spend all the time in the world with my son. My greatest dream has always been to have my own son and do things with him that my father couldn’t do with me because his life was unfortunately cut short,” Tyler explained.

“I know, Tee, and I am glad that I am the woman who could help you achieve that beautiful dream. In fact, I am honoured. Thank you for making me your wife and the mother of your heir,” I said to him.

“Well, thank you for agreeing to spend the rest of your life with a psychopath like me. You have always deserved better, so I am grateful to you for deciding to stick with me and carry my heir,” he said.

I smiled and snuggled closer to him, but just then, there was a flash of lightning and thunder struck in the perfectly clear weather, which made me really uncomfortable. I gazed out of the window, wondering if it would rain soon, but there was nothing in the atmosphere to suggest that. And just like that, my brain took me back to when Nivera was about to be killed and as she laid curses on us all, the thunder had also stricken in a familiar way like today in a perfectly clear weather as well.

I was shaken, and I looked up at Tyler who was still smiling cheerfully and giving instructions to the guards to pass the news of my pregnancy across to every werewolf in the Pack.

I felt terribly unsettled, and there was no peace in my mind. It was as though things would never be the same after that incident and I kept having this fear that after getting my way as the Luna of the Crescent Pack and now being pregnant, I could lose everything in one second anytime soon.

“Malia, are you listening?” the Alpha asked.

I jolted from my thoughts and turned to stare at him, then nodded in the affirmative even though I had barely been paying him any attention. “Yes, I just… I got lost in my thoughts for a second,” I said.

He toyed with my cheeks playfully. “What were you thinking about? From now on, you don’t have to think about anything. I will make all your heart desires come true, just name it,” he said.

I smiled faintly. “It’s not that, Tee. I’m just worried about the curse that…”

“Don’t you dare mention her name,” he cut in immediately, knowing what was coming next.

I quickly kept quiet, and looked away from him, knowing fully well he didn’t want to hear anything that concerned her or reminded him of her.

“What’s wrong? Why are you talking about that all of a sudden? You know very well that whatever she said that day does not hold water,” he said, convincingly.

“I know, but…”

“There are no ‘buts’, my love. She already had her revenge by killing a few members of the Pack, and she is dead and gone. I didn’t do anything to hurt her, and she brought her death upon herself, so nothing will go wrong,” he stated, firmly.

I looked back up at him, and in his eyes, I felt relieved. “Are you sure?” I asked in a low tone.

“I am, just trust me. This child is our miracle, and no curse would be able to stand against a perfect miracle like him. Now, come with me. I have asked the servants to prepare a feast for you,” Alpha Tyler said, smiling at me.

I smiled back at him, now fully reassured. “You’re right, Tee. She is dead and gone, and I shouldn’t be here moping and thinking about bad things that would never happen when I should be celebrating the greatest news I’ve ever heard in my entire life,” I said to him.

“That’s the spirit,” he commended, then helped me to my feet as we proceeded to leave the infirmary.

I was wrong to think about anything bad in this beautiful moment. From now on, only good things were permitted to happen to us, but little did I know that my darkest times were coming soon.
