Chapter 44: Chapter 44

[Nivera’s POV]

From outside, I could hear the jubilation going on. They all seemed so happy and excited that the Alpha King was getting married to Malia, whom they all desired to be the Luna. It was as if they didn’t even remember that just yesterday, an Omega called Nivera had almost been their Luna, but died. In fact, it didn’t even seem like anyone remembered me, and it was too soon for them to just move on happily with their lives like it was an animal they had slaughtered and not a werewolf like themselves.

There were no posters of me in the streets, no one held a funeral ceremony in my honour, they didn’t even have the little decency of burying me in the sand at all, and there was no such thing as a one-minute silence to observe that someone had truly left the Pack.

I was boiling with so much fury and it was erupting, but I didn’t even try to hold it back. Anyone in my shoes would have felt the same way as well; I wanted to rip their hearts out all at once, and I didn’t care if they were in their hundreds or thousands… I just wanted to finish them all, and the moment I saw Tyler and Malia about to kiss each other, I couldn’t contain it anymore. Hadn’t he professed undying love for me? Hadn’t he claimed that he’d go against his people for my sake? Yet, when the slightest opportunity came, he immediately took it and got rid of me.

It was why I was presently reigning terror on them and so far, I had killed thirteen werewolves, including the guards at the door of the wedding hall, and right now, they all just shook terribly, holding their loved ones very tightly as they anticipated who would go down next.

“It’s funny how you all can stand here and act like you didn’t just murder an innocent person,” I yelled as they all trembled.

The last person whose heart I had ripped out was Delilah’s, and I grinned as I licked her blood which had splattered onto my face. She deserved what had come to her for being such a lying bitch.

“Please, have mercy on us and spare our lives,” some women in the crowd cried.

“That’s the same way I pleaded with you to have mercy on me yesterday, and throughout everyday I spent in this Pack. But did you all listen? No, you never did. You never accepted me as one of you and all you ever wanted was to get rid of me. Why? What did I ever do wrong? Put yourselves in my shoes, how would you feel if people just hated you for no reason? To top it all, you had the guts to set up a wedding immediately after my death without even feeling sorry or mournful? Why? Was I just a mere animal that could be used and disposed all this time?” I thundered and my voice echoed.

“To be fair, we are all part-animals, but I get where you’re coming from,” the Gamma said, before adding: “Please, spare my life. Direct your anger towards the one who promised to be by your side through thick and thin, but killed you without even thinking twice or feeling guilty,” she said.

“How more disloyal can you be?” Alpha Tyler raged at her, and I could see her just gently move away.

“No, she is right. You all will die by my hand eventually, but I should not waste my time in dealing with mere accomplices. I should be dealing with the main perpetrator himself,” I said, and swung by his side, knocking out the sword from his hand before he could comprehend my next move.

“No!” Malia screamed in fear.

“It’s okay, I can handle this,” he said, trying to be brave as he gave his men a signal.

They were afraid, but came even more forward and looked all around, trying to find out where I currently was, or to catch me when next I would be coming towards their direction.

“Protect the Alpha King,” the Beta said, requesting for more men, so that they now stood in the form of a circle around the Alpha King.

I couldn’t help, but begin to laugh boisterously and my laughter echoed through the four walls of the wedding hall. “You can get every member of your Pack to stand guard and protect you, but that won’t stop me from wiping you from existence. I’m a force to be reckoned with, you won’t ever see me coming,” I stated, and just then, I struck the chandelier with a piece of furniture I had found lying around.

They were distracted for a moment and looked up, after which I descended, and holding the Alpha King by his collar, I teleported to the altar where no one else was and maintained my invisibility which affected the Alpha as well, since I was holding him closely. By the time they recovered from their momentary distraction, they were stunned to not see the Alpha King again.

“Where did he go?” the Beta demanded.

“I’m right here,” Alpha Tyler screamed, but of course, no one could see him or know exactly where his voice came from since it echoed all over the hall.

“Scream all you want, no one will be able to tell where you are,” I said to him.

In that moment, Malia fell to her knees, and began to shed great tears as she looked everywhere, probably hoping I could see her sincerity. “Please, please, Nivera, I am sorry. It’s all my fault. Spare the Alpha King, please. I already lost one lover; I can’t afford to lose another one. If you want to kill someone, you can kill me, but please, Tyler must not die,” she pleaded as she cried uncontrollably.

“No, don’t say that. Why must you die? Nothing bad must happen to you. I’ll always be yours and I’m not dying anytime soon, so don’t spill any more nonsense,” Tyler screamed at her, but I could tell that it was indeed because he was afraid I might actually exact my revenge on her and not him.

“Nivera, I am truly sorry for all the shitty things I did to you. I’m not asking for your forgiveness, but just please, don’t kill the Alpha. I’m begging you. I’ll never ask you for anything else,” Malia said, sobbing really hard as she clasped her hands together, pleading with me.

“Malia, stop!” Tyler yelled.

She shook her head profusely. “No, it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t pressured you to take any opportunity to get rid of her so we could be together, you wouldn’t have rashly killed her. I’m the one to be blamed, and I can’t let you suffer for my sins,” she said.

I felt really disgusted. “I don’t know why both of you are making a big deal out of this. You both are going to die anyway, so what’s the point? If you want to be together so badly, I could kill you side by side. That’s the only mercy I can show you,” I stated.

“Nivera, please, whatever you do, don’t let the Alpha die. I beg of you,” she pleaded, and the more tears flowed from her eyes, the more my heart ached.

I was angry at both of them, but I couldn’t deny the obvious truth. What she had for him was true love, and I began to wonder if I was doing the right thing at all.

Just then, time stopped and I mean it literally came to a halt. It was as though a movie was playing and someone hit “pause” on the remote control. Everyone remained in the same position without moving and no one, except me, was aware of what was going on. Even the Alpha was frozen, but I could still move about. I was confused and didn’t understand what was going on. Was this some kind of joke or was I imagining things? I tried to shake him to wake up, but it was useless.

“Don’t waste your time, child,” I heard Celeste’s voice say.

I thought I was probably just hearing things until I looked up and saw her standing right beside Malia who had also been frozen on her knees. She was dressed in a long flowing black dress and her gothic makeup was even scarier today. I could hear the sound of bells ringing and as my eyes met hers, I wasn’t sure of what to expect.
