Chapter 10: Chapter 10

[Lucien’s POV]

As the girls massaged my neck and arms, I closed my eyes, finally able to feel calm and relaxed. There were two of them; Elda and Angela, my private masseuses, and sometimes, I fed on their blood. They were humans who dwelled amongst us and they also knew who we were, but kept it to themselves.

Elda reached for my thighs and began to massage the left one, while Angela was massaging the right one. It felt so good, and I moaned softly, asking them to go on with it.

“Do you perhaps want something else?” Angela asked with a sly smile, mildly touching my groin.

“I’m hungry,” I said to her, returning the smile.

“I’m all yours, then,” she said, then gently pushed Elda away and sat on my laps, trailing her fingers across my chest then leaning in to me, exposing the vein on her long neck for me to see. I smiled as it seemed inviting, and proceeded to just suck on it before letting out my fangs to crunch it and probably down in enough blood for the rest of the evening.

“Lucien, you are unbelievable!” Celeste yelled, storming into my room.

“What the fuck is wrong with you? How dare you just barge in like that? Can’t you see I’m busy?” I yelled back.

“Uh-oh. I guess I should leave,” Elda said. She already knew better than to be around us when we were engaging in a quarrel.

“You better do. And you,” she said, pointing at Angela. “Get off him and leave right now!” she yelled at her.

“I’m here for Lucien. You have no right to tell me to leave,” Angela retorted.

I pushed her off my body. “You better get lost before you regret what you just said,” I advised her, and in a huff, she left the room with Elda, slamming the door behind her.

I scowled at Celeste. “You enjoy ruining my fun and I’ll never understand why,” I said, standing up and grabbing a sweatshirt from the wardrobe which I matched with a pair of blue jeans.

“You’re aware that your girl is in prison now, right?” she barked at me.

“My girl died four hundred years ago. I don’t know who you’re talking about right now,” I retorted.

She appeared taken aback. “Oh. So, that’s how it’s going to be?”

“What are you talking about?” I asked, throwing her a frown.

“You’re just going to give up and pretend that she hasn’t been reincarnated? Why? Because she refused once to stay with you? You’re going to forget all about her and leave her to fend for herself just because she doesn’t remember who you are?” Celeste inquired.

“Exactly. She doesn’t remember who I am. Don’t you get it? I am still living my present life. I am past tense to her, and I probably should have thought about that before staying on earth for four centuries. She doesn’t love me in this life. She’s in love with this so-called Alpha Tyler, and that’s fine by me. He’s going to get her killed at the end of the day, but that’s not my problem. She has chosen the path she wants to take and I am not going to get in her way. Like you said, she is an adult and she can make her own decisions,” I concluded.

“Come on, Lucien. Don’t be silly. You have no idea how bad the mate pull of a thing can be. Don’t hate her for choosing to go back to him even though he clearly doesn’t want her. She has always secretly liked him, and now, it is impossible for her to stay away from him because it is now out of her control. They share a bond and that won’t be so easy to break,” she said.

I scoffed. “Which is why we should let her remain in the cell. She will accept his rejection on the day of the next full moon, and that bond would finally be broken,” I said.

“That’s if she isn’t already dead by then,” she retorted.

I was frustrated. “What do you want me to do? The girl clearly knew what she was getting herself into and I tried to stop her, but she didn’t listen. What more do you want from me?” I yelled.

Celeste heaved a deep sigh. “Still, she needs you. Maybe what she said might have hurt your feelings, but she’s still your Eloise. I’ve been watching her through the crystal mirror. She hasn’t been fed or given water for days now, and she was humiliated today by the Alpha and his friends. She needs you,” Celeste said.

“She knows how to call on me if she really does. I already told her how to. I might be in love with her, Celeste, but I do know that I am not stupid. I don’t go where I’m not wanted. If she calls on me, I’ll answer, but if not, I am staying right here and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about that,” I said to her, then grabbed a lollipop from a can on my shelf and leisurely strolled to the living room.

When I got there, my eyes rested on the piano and I recalled how she seemed surprised by it. My heart tingled. If she was a different person because she was reborn, why did I still long for her? I always knew the world was cruel, but I had never known it was this bad. I clenched my fists, trying to suppress my emotions, but that was just in vain.

Fuck it. One -sided love stories had never been a thing of mine, but I guess I was already in too deep before I had even realised it. Staring down at the casual outfit I had on, I shook my head at it distastefully. If I was going to save the damsel in distress, I might as well look like Prince Charming on a white horse.
