Prologue

Burned.

"All I wanted right after I graduated was a family. A husband who would love me and a lot of kids"

"You got your wish didn't you?"

"Did i? It's been eight years, no children yet, my husband....you should see the way he looks at me. Like I am a curse, I am a curse. A curse who can't even give him children"

"You're still young, you will have children. You will get your wish"

"Soon I'll be thirty, after that I'll be forty, then fifty. When will I give him children? Maybe I shouldn't have married him, maybe I should have waited for you. Maybe I shouldn't have married anyone at all"

"I wouldn't have made you happy, you said it yourself"

"Well...I was wrong, I don't know. Maybe marriage wasn't meant for me, maybe I do not deserve a family. Maybe I should have chased a career instead, I was just so focused on getting a happily ever after"

"Enough about the maybes, we can't erase the past but we can do something about the future. What do you want now?"

"All I want now is happiness, I want to be happy"

"And you think I can help you?"

"I don't know, I just want you to try"

"I can't help you, I don't give happiness. You're talking to the wrong person, you should leave"

He hardened his heart but not for long because the tears that ran down her face broke his heart.

"I just want a child, just one" she sobbed.

He nodded because there was nothing in this world he wouldn't do for her.
