Chapter 67: Chapter 67

Nana finally reached Avril's house and went upstairs to meet the girls. They were taking out a few things from Avril's wardrobe like dresses and under wears.

“What took you so long?" Xiao Wéi asked with a knowing smile. Nana exhaled and entered the room fully.

“Nothing.”

“Nothing? Can you see yourself, Nana? You look like you just saw the hottest man alive!” Chidi teased and she and Xiao Wéi laughed.

“Maybe I did. Just maybe,” Nana said with a shrug.

“Come to think of it, that Camper is extremely handsome. And those dimples of his? Killer ones,” Xiao Wéi mused and Nana frowned.

“Hey, stop that fantasizing! He already asked me out on a date,” Nana burst in. Everyone's else widened except Verona who looked at her with a raised brow.

“I always knew he liked you. I see him around the farm and mill sometimes. And it's only you he keeps staring at,” Xiao Wéi revealed.

“You girls do know that Camper is the official womanizer of Remus, don't you?” Verona said as she zipped the bag they had put everything inside.

“Duh...does it matter.” Nana chided.

“So you're going to go out with a playboy who's going to ask out the waiter attending to you on your dinner date?”

The girls laughed at what Verona just said.

“What do you think Nana is, Verona? Some good girl saint? I bet she's worse than Camper on the inside,” Chidi teased and laughed.

“Hey, I'm not that bad. I'm a good girl now,” Nana argued but they just laughed. Verona chuckled at her then grabbed the bag.

“You girls can find something to eat here. I'll go drop the bag in that room and see if she's doing okay,” she announced and began to walk out with the bag.

Dakar held Avril's hand for very long minutes, staring at her face and hoping against hope that she would just sit up and laugh. But wasn't that a waste of hope? No matter how strong the secret medicines were, they couldn't make Avril's human body quickly heal in minutes.

He stretched forth his stiff hand and arranged the hair on her head.

“Do me a favor and be up tomorrow morning so I can make you breakfast,” he stated with a smile. Then he gently laid her hand back down on the bed and covered it with the blanket. He leaned over, hissed her hair and walked out of the room. He met Camper headed back there.

“Why are you returning?” he asked with a frown.

“Can't a boy walk wherever he wants anymore?” Camper retorted and Dakar scoffed.

“You smell like a woman, Camper. Did you flirt with any of Fiorella's friends that just left here?” he questioned and Camper moved back.

“You cannot prove that I asked Nana to let me take her to your garden this weekend,” he blurted and Dakar frowned.

“You are taking a girl out...and even to my garden while her friend is in between life and death?”

“Why are you so worried, Dakar? Don't you believe your girl's gonna come out of that alive?”

“I do believe but...”

“Have some faith. Ñiraka never intended to poison her. So chances of her turning are slim. She's going to heal perfectly and with no traces of a werewolf. I'm sure of that,” Camper reassured and Dakar hated to admit that he was feeling more relaxed hearing that again.

“Just go visit those men again. Who knows, they might be ready to talk,” Camper suggested but Dakar shook his head.

“Those men are stubborn. I know they wouldn't say anything. I have placed an order to not feed them for the next few days. Only give them water once per day. Maybe if they are hungry, they would speak.”

Dakar was referring to the men who got paid to molest Avril. He just wanted to know who it was that paid them, yet they were having sealed lips despite all the torture. Dakar and Camper suspected greatly that Ñiraka or her father had something to do with it. But they couldn't take any action without real proof.

“I was thinking about today's incident, Dakar,” Camper spoke up as they walked away together back towards the living room.

“What is it?” Dakar asked.

“Do you think Ñiraka really wanted to kill Fiorella?”

Dakar stared silently overhead.

“I know she hates her. But I don't think Ñiraka would be able to kill. What I think however, is that she was controlled by something to do it. Something that hated Avril as much as she does or even more.”

“Are you going to visit her soon? You also need to make a report to the King Alpha.”

Dakar took in a breath and nodded.

“I'll be there as soon as Avril wakes up. I can't bring myself to look at her now. I might...I might kill her.”

Camper furrowed his brows as they reached the stairs and he stared at Dakar.

“Somwthing is going on with you,” he stated and grabbed his friend's hand. He stared at it then looked at Dakar with horror in his eyes.

“Your fingers are turning black,” he expelled with a raspy voice. Dakar looked at his fingers and saw the darkening tips. He curled them and stuck them into his coat pocket. Somehow, he felt this had to do with the dark energy evolving from him easier.

Nobleman Adolphus paced front and back, left and right in his living room. He felt restless and just wanted to punched something. Finally, the door opened and a slimmer and taller man walked in. He was about his age, but had traces of being the older one.

“Adolphus,” the man spoke up and he came to a stop by the middle.

“Brother, I need your help,” he hurriedly said and walked to the Beta's side.

“What is it?”

Adolphus smiled and looked his brother straight in the eye.

“It is about your niece, brother. Now is the time for you to show her if you care...or not,” he drawled and a tint of mischief was evident in his eyes and tone of voice. His plans were failing, so why not use the second to the Alpha of the pack for cover?
