Chapter 52: Chapter 52

Avril only noticed that Dakar had left the room after her entire meal finished. Camper had been talking a lot, making her laugh and enjoy the conversation. She was surprised she didn't even realize Prince Dakar had gone out of the roo

“Where do you think he could be?” she asked Camper as she stepped down from the bed and picked up the tray with the empty plates and glas

“Er...I don't know. I heard his car starting downstairs but I didn't really pay attention. He might have gone to his vineyard at the outskirts of town,” Camper replied with a casual shrug of his shoulders. Avril pursed her lips together and stood still with the tray in her left han

“So, he loves gardening?” she asked and stared at Dakar in a way that showed she was ‘just asking’. She made sure to block her mind and not think about their time on the island, even though she doubted that Camper could keep mind

“He never liked gardening from the beginning. He just...took weird interest in it after he returned from exile. Prince Dakar had always loved to cook, but not to farm. I guess that place he went to kinda changed him in certain ways,” Camper explained and Avril nodde

“Who knows if he learnt it in order to survive. I really wish I could know the ordeal he went through you know. I bet it would be thrilling

She walked from the bed and dropped the tray on Dakar's desk a four metres away. She was wearing shorts and a baggy but light sweater but no shoes. She did not want to go downstairs that way—that is without shoes. She sighted a shoe rack just beside his wardrobe and walked to it. His wardrobe had one door made of a mirror and she saw her reflection in it. But suddenly, she froze with her eyes widene

“Oh my God,” she exclaimed and palmed her mouth. Camper raised a brow at her questioningl

“Did you get pregnant?” he asked and Avril burst into a short laug

“Dude, why did you say that?” she questioned. He shrugged and walked to stand behind her so he could look at his reflection to

“Girls are usually that dramatic whenever they get a wanted pregnancy. They go all—oh my God! Ohh my Godd! Oh my gawwdd—then they keep covering their mouth and stare into the mirror,” Camper explained again and even added a bit of drama and acting to the explanation of how girls act. Avril laughed and tucked her hair behind her ea

“It's not that, Camper. But I agree, your explanation is averagely accurate,” she said with a chuckle and continued to stare at her reflection. Or more like the shirt she was wearing because she kept tugging on it gently and looking at the way it fit her body. The reason was because it was Dakar who wore it for her while she fell asleep. She did not realize it and only knew she was not in her red dress from last nigh

“I will be taking the trray downstairs while you continue to get mesmerized by your reflection,” he said and took the tray from the des

“Thank you,” she appreciated and watched him leave the room. Then she looked into the mirror again and wowed at the sweater. So, Dakar had undressed her last night and made her wear something else? Goodness! She was surprised and really wished she could know if he was the one who truly changed her into a sweater. And who owned the sweate

She took a quick drag of the smell and it norma

“What if this is his? Gosh! I'm so keeping it,” she squealed and jumped on her feet after saying tha

“What is with the excitement, girl? Did you win a lottery?” Verona's voice rang and Avril turned immediately to see Verona leaning against the dooerfram

“Oh, dear. What are you doing up here? This is Dakar's room,” Avril stated with a smile and walked towards Veron

“I know that. I saw the Prince when he was headed out. He asked I fetch you,” Verona answered and clicked her tongue in her mouth. She had her short red hair sided to the right, and of course, she wore her black make-up and gothic jewelry. She was wearing leather pants, black boots and a white corset to

“You seem to be heading somewhere,” Avril cite

“Was headed towards town. It's almost the end of the month and winter is coming, wanted to get a few new things

“Oh. Emm...may I tag along

“I guess so. You haven't really seen what Remus looks like when it's a busy day, have you

Avril shook her head and followed after Verona as she turned around and headed ou

“I wanted to tell you, this year's last Weak End Tournament is coming. You know, the close of it for the year. This time, the fight is like a whole championship game and takes up to a whole week. The winner goes home with a lot of stuff as the prize,” Verona explained as they gently climbed down the stair

“Sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I could actually join in. Are you

“Of course I am. Heard Ñiraka signed up too. She always wants to put up a show,” Verona rolled her eye

“She would just cheat her way up,” she adde

“Can I sign up too? Not for the prize or anything, but just for the fun of it

“Course you can. You seem to be a lover of fights

“Well, yeah. I love wrestling or just watching it. It's a fun thing you know

Verona slightly saw an image of Avril giving leg kicks to two men and yelling loudly. They were surrounded by a few people and someone—a man with jet black sleek hair was sitting down and watching her. He had bodyguards around him and they all were watching Avril fighting the two men. But, before Verona could even make out what scenario it was, Avril closed her min

“Uhm, Verona, can we pass by the girls' work places before we head to wherever you're going? I gotta tell them something,” Avril spoke u

“Sure,” came Verona's answe

An hour later and the two ladies were already out of the palace gates, walking down the smooth tarred road leading to town. Yellow and golden leaves flew in the wind from the ground where they were very much accumulated. The Remusian birds were singing and flying happily, getting ready for their winter migration. As they walked further, Avril noticed that the buildings were adding up. Tall and stonewalled, each building was beautiful and decorated with flowers and the autumn trees and leaves. Avril had been out only once, but she didn't see much. Verona took her to the bus stop and they sat down on the bench underneath the shade. She had showered and reworn the sweater. It was grey in color so she matched it up with a white printed skirt, a pair of black boots and white sock

The bus in Remus was a nice grey bus with twelve seats. It was just like every regular bus on the outside, but there was a small logo of that wolf on the doors. The same logo behind Avril's back. The bus drove away with the two girls as its only passengers and took them through the serene environment into a much larger, noisier and busier side. This place had tall and huge buildings with shops and stalls in them. A lot of restaurants, mostly outdoors. Cars drove around the clean roads and a few people were with bicycles too. Fountains were at almost every centre space and loud music were being played from different buildings. Avril suddenly felt like she was in a busy part of London with those beautiful stone wall building

Verona led her to one of the huge cloth stalls she often patronize and they began to shop for clothes good enough for winter season. They shopped for over two hours and when they came to the counter to pay, what they heard wa

“Oh, they'll be paid for, miss. We've received special orders to table the price for whatever it is you'll be buying today

Avril's eyes furrowed and she looked over at Veron

“Thank you,” Verona simply said and they walked out of the stall with the shopping bag

“What did she mean by that

“Someone is going to pay for everything,” Verona answere

“What? Someone like who

“Someone like that,” Verona nodded her head towards the front of a magnificent white building looking like a mini castle on its own. Right in front of it was a black car and leaning by it was a man with his hair packed to one side of his face, wearing sunglasses and tapping his keys on the bonnet of the car. Avril gulped and forgot to breathe. Something was smoking hot and it had nothing to do with the hot dog stand thereby. They both stood still as Prince Dakar walked towards them, a lot of eyes on him. He reached them and removed his glasses, looking solely at Avril whose eyes were involuntarily locked with hi

His hand moved up to her chin and he held it up with his masculine finger

“My sweater looks perfect on you. You should wear more of my clothes often,” he said in a husky, milky and raspy ton

‘Great, she's dead. He's killed her,’ Verona said in her mind as she saw Avril melt into butter.

. It's not like I'm pretty,” she replied and shrugge

“You are beautiful, Fiorella,” he drawled and her shoulders droppe

“One of the prettiest humans I've ever set my eyes on,” he added and it killed her on the inside. She gulped and looked at hi

“Are you getting drunk

He laughed and ran a finger through his hai

“Can this wine get me drunk?” he asked back and smirke

“Thanks for the compliment then,” she appreciated and resumed eatin

“Do you want to know why those people at the lobby were staring?” he asked and she looked at him agai

“Yes. You must have heard them whispering. Why was that

“There have never seen me with a woman before. Not once, ever,” he revealed and Avril furrowed her brow

“Not once? Like...not even with a female associate

“Not once. They thought I was gay. So bringing a woman here is a shock

Avril bit on her lips to hide her smil

“So what gives me the honor of being the first woman to accompany this mysterious man to a dinner?” she asked

“There is nothing special about you. Don't think that way,” came his curt reply. But this time, Avril knew it wasn't s

“Oh, I don't believe you, Prince. There is something you're hiding. And it better not be what I think it is,” she warned. Dakar's heart skipped a beat. He didn't want her to think anything about the island and who he was to her. That was what he was trying to avoid, wasn't i

He cleared his throat and was about to say something that could divert their attention when he noticed three men staring at them from the far corner of the room. Well, they were staring at Avril mostly and whispering very tiny words to themselves. The men wore black suits and looked dangerous. Dakar looked away from them and glanced back after some time only to find them making a phone call. One of them met eyes with him and he (the man) smirked mischievously at Dakar, then looked over at Avril before looking back at him. He licked his lips slowly then gave Dakar another mischievous smirk

‘Oh, now you got a problem,’ Dakar said in his mind and a deep scowl appeared on his face. The circular outline of his iris turned into a shade of shining gold and Avril gasped when she saw him.. t?o.. e..”?”s.?”n.g.d.r.?”m.d.d.m.r.n.d?s.m.e.h.y.e.t.y.m.m.s.h.e.r.d.t.y.t.t.e.s.s.?”d.?”s.a..”s—s.s.r.p.d..”.”.”d.s.?”s.t.?”?”.”d.p.a.e.t.l.r?k.t.r.o.h.y.d..”d.s.d.s.m.reat, she's dead.
