Chapter 76: Chapter 76

/Amber’s pov/

The phone conversation revealed that he will be here for at least another hour.

"They need to take him away and process him," I explain. "Please allow me to return you back home, where you can await his arrival." A consoling smile was given to me by him before walking in the direction of our home, which was a relief.

Abigail and Josh bolted out of the house as soon as we pulled into our driveway, their faces contorted with fear and concern. "How are things going for you today, honey?" "How are you doing today, Amber?" "Oh, Amber, how are you doing today?" Abigail inquired as we made our way to the house, concerned about my appearance.

"I'm in excellent health," I explained, "but I'm really exhausted right now." I smiled and nodded my head.

"Could you tell me what the message was?" What did you happened when you met up with Stephen? Abigail enquired, a frown on her face as she asked the question.

The only thing I wanted to do was go to bed, so I pleaded with Jake by nodding and pleading with him. Let me tell you something in a second. "Wait a second, Abigail, and I'll tell you." Jake abruptly ended our conversation and pointed me in the direction of the rear hallway. "Ambs is in need of some rest," Jake said to the group. I smiled as I thanked him for his assistance.

Something about what I'd just done was becoming too much for me to take in, and the enormity of what I'd done was beginning to dawn on me as well. The mistake I'd made was one of monumental proportions. Instead of thinking on the horrible things that may have happened to me if only he had the opportunity, I focused on the present.

The moment I pushed the ideas aside, a small trembling could be heard from my lips; it was finished, and nothing had happened. I was quite fortunate. Jake brought me into my room and dumped my belongings onto the floor; I kicked off my shoes and went into bed, still fully clothed, to fall asleep. The look in his eyes was melancholy as he perched on the edge of my bed, and he fixed his stare on me.

His voice was quiet as he continued, "I'm so sorry you lost your kid." "I really care about you but You are already aware of this, aren't you?"

I smiled and nodded my head. Despite a feeble smile on my face, I taunted, "I understand." "You would have made an excellent uncle," Jake.

He burst into fits of laughing. To be honest with you, simply to get even with you and Mike, I would have made the kid become my personal messenger to no end."

I had a wry grin on my face at the time. "I'm confident that you would have reacted in the same way."

He hugged me and tapped my back while kissing the side of one of my cheeks. "You showed tremendous courage, and I applaud you for it," he added emphatically, but he pleaded with me not to do anything like it in the future. In his subsequent remarks, he said, "You showed incredible courage, and I admire you for it."

With a sigh and a shake of my head, I expressed my displeasure. "Are you going to pick up Mike?" I inquired. "I'm not going to go through with it."

He trembled as he shook his head in frustration. His response was, "No, I'll send Josh to pick him up at the station." "It's not safe for me to leave you here until I'm certain as**ole is out of town," Knowing that I needed to sleep since I was both physically and psychologically exhausted, I closed my eyes and nodded in agreement.

The moment I observed someone getting into the bed, I jumped out of bed! My eyes opened wide as I awoke with a groggy feeling and saw Mike climbing into bed with me. With a shake of my head, I showed my happiness with the current circumstances.

I wrapped my arms around him, tears streaming down my face as I did so. I'd never been happier to see someone in my entire life as I was when I saw him. In return, he wrapped his arms around me, stroking my hair and gently rocking me while he placed his kisses on the back of my neck, exactly as he always does when I'm unhappy. The remainder of the night, I tangled my hands in his hair and wouldn't let go until it was over. I didn't want to be apart from him for another moment.

" Angel, everything is OK for the time being. " Upon first glance, everything appears to be in proper working order. "How are you feeling?" he inquired softly as he diverted his gaze away from the view. His lovely blue eyes were looking at me from behind a worried expression on his face. Then I kissed him and squished myself against him, pushing myself against him tightly. As he pressed his lips on mine and smiled, I moved my gaze away.

"I'm in fantastic physical condition." "I'm delighted to see you," I said him as I caressed my hands along his beautiful face with my own. While one of his fingers ran through the back of my hair, his gaze was gentle for a few moments. He was thinking about something.

He continued, his demeanor abrasive, "Jake informed me of what you did," he then pauses.

I clenched my teeth and squinted my eyes. It was with a heavy heart that I said, "I'm sorry, I had to."

I could feel his face buried in the side of my neck. Despite the fact that he laughed against my skin, "if that's what you're thinking," he said, "I'm not going to yell at you." After releasing the breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding, I was able to relax. He took a step back to look at me more closely. "However, I am really dissatisfied with your conduct."

Despite the fact that I despise what you've done, I don't want to add to your already-heavy burden. "I know you've already been through a lot," he muttered, his palm descending to the floor and resting on my now-empty tummy, "and I'm sorry for what happened." The only thing I can advise you on is to avoid putting yourself in that kind of predicament in the future.

There is absolutely no way you will put yourself in risk again. It's meaningless to debate about why you were injured because there isn't a legitimate justification for your injuries. "Do you understand what I'm saying?" he asked, hissing.
