Chapter 66: Chapter 66
/Amber’s pov/
It was like he had rolled on top of me, hovering just above my head with his bare hands barely touching me. "Angel, you will never be ugly," he whispered, his eyes glistening with adoration as he looked at me. As he slipped his hand down to my stomach, he continued, "And the bigger you get, just means I have more of you to love." I laughed as I drew his mouth closer to mine.
Josh, Stanley , and Abigail staying with us turned out to be a fantastic experience. My sister Abigail made pancakes for us on Saturday morning, and I spent the rest of the day talking to her and playing with my adorable younger brother. She intended to remain in town because Josh did not want to attend a different school for the second time.
Kate arrived in the afternoon, and Josh finally persuaded her to become his exclusive - a request that she enthusiastically accepted. They were so cute, cuddly and flirty, and it made me smile. Kate had a way of saying things that would make Josh blush. But knowing Kate, he wouldn't stay that way for very long if she didn't get her way. Mike wouldn't stop giving me little knowing smiles and rubbing his hands along the inside of my stomach at every opportunity.
Abigail, Josh, Kate, and Stanley spent the entire day on Sunday at the zoo with their parents. They wanted to get out and do something to divert Abigail's attention away from the fact that my father was due to return from a business trip later that day. He would return home to discover that she had left him a note and that all of their belongings had been removed from his home. She had gotten rid of their phone numbers and purchased new sim cards for their cellphones, so he had no way of getting in touch with them or knowing where they were at any given time.
However, they realized that sitting around worrying about it was not beneficial to anyone, so they decided to do something to keep themselves occupied.
It happened while I was reading on the sofa, with my legs on Mike's lap while he was playing PlayStation with Jake, that the phone started ringing. Jake was the one who got there first, so I moved to get it. As he responded, he felt his entire body tense up. "What the hell do you want?" he growled as he jumped off the sofa and into the living room. I sat up so quickly that it almost felt like my head was spinning. His voice was nearly audible over the phone as he demanded, "Are you f**king drunk?" I sat there watching him, sick to my stomach, knowing that my father was on the phone.
"Well, what's the big deal? "How are you planning on dealing with it, old man?" Jake spat, his face flushed with rage. "We don't want to see you, so don't bother coming here." No. She does not want you to come see her. If you come anywhere near her again, I swear I'll kill you," he growled, turning his back to face me. Actually, you know what, screw it and come over right now, right now. Bring your problems to our house so we can have a discussion about them," Jake suggested.
What in the world is he up to? “Jake?” I sobbed, terrified.
“Sure. You're aware of the location of the house, aren't you? Absolutely. See you in a minute," Jake said as he hung up the phone and hurriedly tossed it across the room. We were fortunate in that it only hit the other sofa and didn't break it apart. Is it possible that he simply told him to come over?
"Jake, he's not like that..." I couldn't finish the sentence because I couldn't find the right words.
Jake shifted his gaze back to me, his expression hard. “Yeah. "Go to the next door," he directed.
I looked to Mike for assistance. He was looking Jake in the eyes, and he had the same hard expression on his face as before. "Mike, please tell him that this is a stupid idea!" "I'm sorry," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. Mike didn't even bother to look at me; he and Jake were engaged in some sort of silent conversation with their eyes. As soon as I got off the sofa, I grabbed the phone, intending to call him back to cancel the appointment. I couldn't allow him to come here, not with those two standing there looking so threatening.
Jake snatched the phone away from my grasp and walked away. "He's not going to stop harassing you, Ambs," says the detective. He's looking forward to seeing you. He's also extremely enraged that Abigail has abandoned him. He is aware that I assisted them because a neighbor noticed my car in the driveway. "I just need to tell him to back the f**k off," he said, pulling me into a hug. "He's really pissed at me, so I just need to tell him to back off."
Jake and Mike were going to beat him senseless and tell him to back the f**k off, and I shook my head. That wasn't what he had in mind at all, and they weren't planning on telling him anything.
I beg you, please don't do it; you'll get into trouble. Please?” I spoke in hushed tones. My stomach was squirming with dread as I sat there.
"Not if he starts something first," Jake said, trying to keep a smile off his face.
/Mike’s pov/
Oh my God, what a horrible experience. One of the first thoughts that came to mind was the fact that I needed to maintain control over Jake at all costs. As much as I wished I could have put that as**ole to death, we needed to proceed with caution, and I felt the same way. When he came through the door, I promised his mother that I would not let him do something like that.
We'd be liable if we literally jumped him as soon as he walked through the door. I wouldn't let Jake go to jail for that asshole because Angel needed Jake to be her big brother, especially now that the baby was on the way. I also didn't want Jake to lose his job because of that asshole. After that, I thought about how I needed to get out of here as quickly as possible with my girlfriend and my baby. I needed to get somewhere quickly.
"Let's go," I said, grabbing her hand and pulling her away from Jake. "I'll take you to my place," I said after a moment.
When I touched her hand, she yanked it away from mine and fixed me with a glare. "I'm not getting out of here without a fight! Both of you are not going to get away with it, and I will not stand by and do nothing. In the event that you are unable to beat the living crap out of him, you will face serious consequences. It was her who exclaimed, "You're being absolutely ridiculous!" Her tears streamed down her cheeks as she was talking to the audience.
My words to Angel were, "You need to get out of here right now." Even the thought of her being anywhere near that man made me feel sick to my stomach. I couldn't keep myself together, let alone keep Jake under control if he even glanced at her the wrong way.
When she moved her head, she made a fierce shaking motion with it. She'd always been obstinate, which was something I admired about her in general - but not right now, because I didn't care for it. So long as she insists on having it her way, that's fine with me. I snatched her by the shoulders and wrapped her in my arms, lifting her in the bridal style of the moment.
"Mike, don't you dare!" she screamed as she struggled to her feet, her face flushed with rage. "Mike, don't you dare!" she screamed. It was only after I shook my head and reminded myself that I'd deal with her rage later, that she wouldn't be mad at me for long, and that a night of silent treatment would be totally worth it just to make absolutely certain that she was completely safe from harm. During the course of my transporting her out of the house, she broke down and wrapped her arms around my neck to keep me company. Damn it, she was about to put me to death, wasn't she? My heart sank at the thought of seeing her cry.
I kissed her on the side of the head as I leaned in closer. "Don't be concerned; everything will be fine, I guarantee it." All I ask is that you remain safe so that I can concentrate on keeping Jake calm, understand?" I was completely honest with myself.
The moment we arrived at my home, I hurriedly opened the door and made my way over to the couch. As soon as she was comfortable in my lap, I sat down and rocked her gently. I'd had enough. "Please don't get in trouble, Mike," she begged, hugging me even tighter. "Please don't get in trouble, Mike," she begged. "Please don't get into trouble, Mike," she pleaded once more with him.
"It's not something I'm going to do. I have to go to the next door immediately. Keep in this location until I arrive to pick you up. It is absolutely necessary that you do so. Do you understand what I'm trying to communicate? "Could you please see to it that this is taken care of for me?" Because I was desperate, I inquired.
As she sniffed and pushed herself away from the table, she turned her back to me. "Just get off my lap and sit on the sofa," she yelled angrily as she slid off my lap and onto the couch. "Just get off my lap and sit on the sofa," she insisted. This was something she did not find particularly amusing.
Disgusted by her agitated demeanor, I moaned under my breath.
