Chapter 60: Chapter 60

"You bastard!" My beast was too loud to have growled at him that I couldn't control it. The moment those words left my mouth, i was left stunned as I knew I had just ruined my efforts and brought large consequences on myself.

"What did you just say, son?" He questioned in a fierce low tone and I knew he was madly upset. I was also stunned, I hadn't expected those words to leave my mouth yet i just couldn't control myself the moment he insulted Lenora, my beast couldn't.

I knew I was keeping him waiting by not saying anything, but I had no clue on what to say that would cover up for the insult. Not only were my plans doomed but I could also be doomed as he wouldn't think twice to kill me like the rest of my brothers.

"I expect an answer from you, son!" His voice came out really fierce as i could feel sweat dropping on my body as I totally crashed myself on the floor while bowing to him without lifting my head an inch away from the floor.

"Pardon my stupidity, your highness" I begged and hope he would buy it but his silence was eating me from the inside as I needed him to say something to me. I wanted to know my fate.

"Jake" he called for his personal guard as the guard walked to the middle of the room.

"Make an announcement, the battle starts by 12pm and anyone who backs out dies by 12:10pm" He announced and even though I wasn't looking at him, i could feel his gaze shifting to me as his eyes pierced into my soul.

"As for you, I'll pardon you because you're the only child I have left but this shall never repeat itself. Dismiss yourself" he commanded.

With every courtesy in me, I raised my head in the most polite way as I gave him another little bow before standing on my feet.

"Thank you, my lord" I said through clenched teeth and angry beast behind walking out of the room .

I have been controlling myself and containing every insult he directed to me but I just couldn't bare to watch him insult lenora and my beast had to flare up.

Maybe I shouldn't have just went to his room in the first place because now I made everything worse for Lenora as the fight has been shifted to a nearer time. Too near.

I could hear the guard making the announcement and the murmurs that followed as wolves started to walk towards the battle ground since it was almost time for the fight and everyone was asked to be there before the time.

If they were 10 minutes late then it means death but I had not the courage to look at Lenora's face or persuade her into joining the fight. I wish I could do something but I was just stuck.

"My prince, The king requested for you to be seated on your throne in the battle ground" Josh said to me as he rushed to where I was with a bow.

"How about Lenora?" I asked but he said nothing in response as he bowed his head. I had no idea on what to do but I just couldn't do anything than to watch and see what would happen.

It was just 10 minutes before the fight and I was finally dressed as I walked towards the throne. I could see Tala seated on her usual seat while a woman supported her from behind as she massaged her shoulders and said some words to her.

I immediately recognized the woman as the woman I bumped into in the Palace. If she's supporting Clara and looked like Clara then she must also be Lenora's mother.

As the realization struck me, I could feel my body boiling at the sight before me as she was supporting Tala rather than even caring for Lenora like Lenora isn't her daughter at all.

The urge to walk up to her and teach her a lesson came up to me but as I was about to stand up from my throne, the trumpet blew and Adolph walked down the steps with Diane beside him. She seemed to have had a bad hair and make up day for the first time since I knew her.

She looked stress and doesn't look any where near happy, just how I love to see her.

I checked the time and it was 12:02pm but Lenora wasn't anywhere near this ground. The king had already arrived but she wasn't here, that on the other hand was an offense but I was more concerned about her having just 8 minutes to decide for her life.

The king sat and noticed she wasn't around, he had a curled up lips as he smiled at her empty seat.

I tried to stand up to find her but he had stopped me from leaving my seat as he commanded me followed by a growl.

I couldn't just sit and do nothing but the more I tried to fight it the more my head hurt badly that I started to feel my blood coming out of my nose.

"Obey and don't fight it " Adolph commanded once more and I found myself seated without standing up.

It was now 12:08 but Lenora wasn't here still, I could see the happiness in both Tala and her mother's face and I wished to rip their lips from their faces. Maybe that would make me happier.

While my eyes were still fixed on them, I heard Adolph muttering some words to himself and it took me a while to put the words together until I realised what he said and a wave of disgust filled me.

He had said he was thirsty for blood and Lenora's blood should do him for today and at that point my beast wanted nothing more than his heart in our mouth.

"She's here!" the crowd mutters as I looked towards the pointed direction and saw Lenora walking down the steps. She didn't seem any confident and was obviously tired but she was trying to hide them beneath the mask of bravery she wore.

Both I and the king immediately checked the time on the huge clock but it was just some seconds before 12:10pm and she was still safe.

"You made me wait, young one and your punishment shall be to not raise a fist against your opponent for a minute" the king said and my eyes opened in awe.

How could he be this cruel?, once again the smile on Tala and her mother's face increased but as I shifted my gaze to Lenora she seemed to also be focused on the woman with Tala as I immediately felt her pain in me.

"This isn't fair, father" I protested.

"I hate to be kept waiting " he replied with a tone that ended the conversation there. I hated this man more than anything in this world.

"Let the battle begin " he announced as he relaxed on his throne and a smiling Tala started to throw punches at a really fast speed on Lenora in her most weakest point while Lenora couldn't do anything in return.

It hurt me to see her that way and I truly wanted to do something but I can't, I'm becoming just like my mother.

Immediately the time was up, an alarm went off and Tala threw her last punch while Lenora crashed yet again on the floor wincing in pain and covered in her blood.

"We have a winner " Adolph announced with a smile as he clapped his hands.

"I don't think there's a need to have another battle since she has won twice In a row or don't you think so, son?" Adolph turned to look at me but I made sure to keep my face straight so I wouldn't end up saying words I would hate to say.

"Don't you think she's the perfect mate, son!" He asked again but this time through clenched teeth as I could feel his anger forcing its way out.

My eyes couldn't leave Lenora who was lying breathless and exhausted on the floor as she kept on wincing in pain. I wanted to help but Adolph was stopping me.

"Answer me!" He roared this time as his voice echoed through the room causing every wolf to bare their neck In submission.

I tried to fight the urge but stood no chance against the force so I submissively bared my neck as I heaved a deep breath.

"I can never be mated to Tala" I responded and it seemed to have caught him off guard as his brows arched for a while before settling.

"You started this so why not finish it, stick to your words, your mate has won 2 rounds while it's obvious the weakling stands no chance.."

"Don't fucking call her my mate and Lenora isn't a weakling, she's just sick from the poison" I yelled but calmed myself when I realized my voice had been higher than the King which is a taboo.

"You've changed son" He replied in a low tone after some while of silence as the wolves watched both of us in fear.

"I beg for just one last chance for Lenora, you said it'll be three rounds then three rounds it shall be "

"What difference would it make, the strongest has proved to be strong by winning two rounds In a row" He responded.

"Please, let it be a rematch for this fight as this wasn't a fair game" I pleaded as I bowed on the floor and without saying any words he walked out of the battle ground with his guard following behind.

I raised my head to see the queen staring at me with pity eyes but she was my least concern at the moment, I rushed towards where Lenora was laying as I checked for her pulse but her eyes seemed to be opened and fixed on one thing which was her mother. That'll be a problem for another day once all of these is settled.

"I'll take care of her" Diane said to me as she looked at me in my eyes, for some moment I started to realise I was hating her for no reason and Adolph was truly the only problem all along.

I was also unable to do anything but to watch Lenora fight for her life and that was similar to what my mum did to my siblings.

"I'll take care of her myself " I said with a gruff voice as I wasn't ready to think of myself as my mother.

"I'm a doctor, I'll treat her better" she insisted and I knew the only right thing to do was to let her treat Lenora to get better.

Her guard tried to collect Lenora from my hands but I had given him a fierce eye that made him back off. I'll be the one to carry her myself, not some other man touching her skin.

We entered my room as Diane immediately started off by cleaning her wounds and changing her clothes. She had so much injuries on her skin and I couldn't help but blame myself.

Something was also definitely wrong about the wounds and punches from Tala as a bare wolf's hand can not cause all of these damages on her body. Only a lycans punch can cause wounds as deep as this on a wolf's body. Something was definitely wrong about Tala and her mother who suddenly showed up out of the blue.

"Announcement, the King has announced the third match being today by 5 pm. It will also be the final match and the rightful partner shall be marked!" Jake announced as my heart left my mouth.

Why does the Devil always have to be the Devil?
