Chapter 48: Chapter 48

The old familiar stained bricks on the wall brought back past memories as I walked through the hallway. It seemed like I haven't been in this building for years, whereas it was just for a few months.

I would have wanted to do everything possible to not come to this place anymore but it seemed to be the only way I could escape from Alaric for at least 7 hours.

I could see some wolves staring at me as I walked by, some were whispering while some hissed at me and it all seemed so funny to me because before Alaric came I was a nobody and they never cared about my affairs even though I was in a relationship with Asher. Seemed like they all knew right from the start that Asher was only going to play me and they didn't care.

I tried to ignore the many stares I was getting from jealous wolves just to get up in my class and wait for the lecture to begin. I was a little bit too early because I was eager to leave the pack house and get as far away as I can from Alaric.

Josh had offered to give me a ride to school and I had declined because I wanted to take a long walk to clear my mind off but Alaric didn't seem to like my decision as he forcefully commanded me to get into the car and drove me to school himself.

The drive was filled with awkward silence as I only stared out of the window all through the ride while Alaric focused on the road but I had caught him peeking at me some few times.

I wasn't in the mood to talk to him and was still mad at him for what he did to me last night.  I knew it was mostly just my fault for getting drunk and causing a scene but he had treated me like I was an object he possessed and didn't feel any remorse when talking about it this morning.

I just had to let it slide since I knew deep down in my heart that something like this would eventually happen. All I had to do was tolerate him for three months and If I still feel nothing for him afterwards. It'll be my happiest moment to be set free from him and pursue my dreams of traveling around the world alone.

It wasn't really a happy dream because I had once wished I could find another mate after Asher and now that he has found me, I'm not ready to fully accept him.

"Nora!" Ariel's voice brought me out of my thoughts as she dragged a chair to the front of my table to sit while facing me.

"Why are you so lost in your thoughts?" She asked and I noticed something different in her as she was in a very bright mood. Her face was literally glowing and I could easily tell she was really happy.

"Nothing, I was just bored " I lied as I threw a smile at her, she didn't seem to be convinced but later chose to give up.

"Okay then, I'm here now so don't be bored" she chuckled as she drummed on my table while I arched my brow at her.

"Why are you so happy?" I asked her as I soon found myself smiling at her contagious chuckles.

"Nothing much..." she stressed her words and I knew something definitely happened and I was starting to become curious.

"Spill it!" I shunned as she was still stressing her sentence and she rolled her eyes at me.

"Guess?" She groaned, making me feel like a big fool for not knowing why she was this happy and I felt like smacking her.

"Cone on, we both know I'm bad at guessing!" I sighed as I held her hands tight in an attempt to plead with her to stop the torture and spill the beans already.

"Okay fine, are you ready?" She asked while I gave her a threatening look.

"Of course I am,you bitch" I cussed and she let out a loud giggle that was also contagious but I just wanted to hear the full gist already.

"Okay, well guess who's the latest godmother in town?" She squeaked and I found myself staring at her with wide opened eyes as my gaze shifted to her belly and back to her face in amusement.

"No way!!" I squeaked but when she only smiled in return I knew she wasn't kidding and was actually pregnant.

"Omg, I'm so happy right now. Congratulations baby girl!!! " I shrieked as I jumped off the chair and gave her a tight hug but immediately pulled back as I was scared I might hurt the baby.

"Thank you" she chuckled in response while I stared at her, still surprised.

"Why are you just telling me you freak!" I scolded her while she gave me some type of threatening eyes.

"Because the school nurse just told me?" She rolled her eyes at me and I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Does he know about this?" I asked, referring to her mate.

"Of course, we went to the nurse's office together and he has been so happy ever since " she announced with a smile and I could see the genuine happiness in her emotion.  I don't think I've really seen her this happy.

"You should let the school mistress know already, so you'd get your break" I said and she nodded her head in response.

"I'll do that right after class" she responded.  It's totally fine if a mated wolf gets pregnant and everyone rejoices with them. If they happen to still be schooling then they usually get breaks from the beginning of the pregnancy till the child turns a year old then the child would be put in daycare.

But on the other hand, if she got pregnant without being mated, she's most likely to be kicked out of the pack along with the guy who would have impregnated her. It's a strict rule in our pack that has been followed for years to keep highscholers from having unprotected sex and to use a really strong condom specially designed for werewolves.

Although in some cases, some female wolves get pregnant by a random dude and abort it before anyone notices.  Abortion is a really bad crime to our pack because it could as well put the mother in danger. It's a 50-50 chance.

"Welcome back to school you all" a teacher walked into the class and addressed everyone to settle down for the first actual lecture in a long while.

We all settled down while Ariel sat beside me and I still couldn't bring myself from not looking at her tummy.  It was still really flat and no one would know a living soul is in there.

The class turned out to be really interesting and before I realized we had about 4 more classes before the bell rang for break. Ariel had said her mate wanted to buy us all lunch but I didn't want to be the third wheel so I declined and decided to sit and eat alone.

I had just collected my food from the lunch lady and was about to dig my spoon  into it when the cafeteria suddenly started to go silent and I realized there was an unwanted guest in the school.

I spotted Tala rushing towards the door as she adjusted her hair and made her cleavage more obvious. She was really trying so hard to fulfill her threat.

In no time,  the dare devil walked into the cafeteria and I watched how Tala had flashed her teeth at him and was trying hard to be noticed even though it wasn't easy for her. His lycan aura was too strong to let her stand straight with her head up as her head was bowed but nevertheless she tried to be seductive and I didnt realize when I let out a laugh the moment Alaric walked past her without even glancing at her.

Her face fell the moment he walked past her and that would be the best I have ever liked her look. I knew Alaric was here to see me but I didn't understand why he wanted to see me in school and during school hours after I had thought i'd be free from him during my 7 hours of peace.

I watched as he sat on the bench opposite me while his eyes never stopped staring at me and I was suddenly feeling uncomfortable with the amount of wolves staring at me with their eyes filled with bad intentions.

"Why are you here?" I asked In a low tone as I kept my gaze on the table.

"Because I missed you and wanted to spend time with my mate, " he bluntly replied. For some reason he sounded cute and might have eased my tense mind a little.

"I don't like the attention, " I said after a while.

"You should get used to it, they're nothing to worry about " he casually responded once more but when he realized i wasn't eating my food he stood up from the bench and I thought he was about to leave until he growled in a low tone.

"Stand up, let's go" he commanded and as much as I wanted to refuse and I knew it would be of no good besides I also wanted to leave here too. I might not be able to cope with the rest of the wolves if he leaves me here all alone.

"Okay" I replied and carried my little purse on the table. I had thought I only needed to walk beside him but was shocked when he grabbed me by my waist and led me outside the cafeteria. My cheeks immediately heated as they turned red from the embarrassment.

"Let's go eat" he said immediately we got to the car but then I remembered what happened last night where I ended up not eating in the desert of a restaurant.

"No, can we just buy takeout and eat somewhere else. " I said while he squinted his eyes at me for some while. I knew he might think I was crazy but to be honest I just wanted to eat something simple and it doesn't have to be a fancy date.

"What do you want to eat?" He asked after staring at me for some awkward moment.

"Hamburger?"

"Nice choice" he responded and I found a smile tucking at the corner of my lips. Who knew he loved hamburgers?

We ended up getting some at a drive through, even though there were a lot of cars waiting to be attended to, they were all ignored and attended to us the second we arrived there.

We decided to eat it in the car and it felt really good to know nothing was happening and we were just eating in the car. It felt like a perfect date to make me happy.

In no time, Alaric finished his burger as I stared at him with wide opened eyes.

"What?" He questioned as I continued to stare at him before I diverted my gaze and chuckled.

"I never knew you loved it " I said but he didn't say anything back.

I was also through with my burger and he had offered to drop me off at school even though I really didn't want to return there but I had no choice.

I immediately snapped out of my thoughts when I noticed that Alaric had been staring at me for some while and the moment he realized I was staring at him he suddenly leaned to where I was seated as I found myself seizing my breaths as he was so close and any slight movement could lead to our lips touching.

"The seat belts " he cooed and dragged the seat belt from behind. His cold hands made contact with my boobs and I could feel him pausing for some moment before he finally tucked the belt in and balanced on his seat.

I felt some tingling sensation as I wanted to know what it would feel like if he touched me more. The atmosphere In the car was getting suffocating as I whined the window down and laid my head beside the door.

"Why am I feeling this way?"
