Chapter 67: Chapter 67

TEN YEARS LATER

Life became simply more colourful after the emotional reunion ten years ago.

For Durga’s happiness, Gagan Ahuja disposed of all his savings from their hometown and moved to Mumbai, so that Durga can be near her sons always.

He bought a single storeyed beautiful house a block away from the Verma Mansion.

Armaan and Aadesh wanted them to stay at their home, but Gagan refused with love.

‘Only now we have gotten rid of this kabab mein haddi. Now it’s time for our second honeymoon,’ Gagan had said jokingly, pointing at Aaru.

Though they were reluctant at first, they agreed on the condition that Gagan would always drop Durga at the Verma Mansion when he leaves for work. And the brothers started working from home more often.

Aadesh and Shreya got married within a month after the reunion with their mother and it was the happiest event of their life.

Everything went well. Shreya gave birth to a little boy after two years of her marriage and they named her Ishitha, in memory of her late sister.

Everything was going good expect for Janani being adamant on not having another child. Her fear of hurting Ava and Advi in any way was too ingrained in her that nobody could talk sense into her.

And that’s when it happened.

After ten long years!

Janani Verma wiped her face yet again after throwing up for the third time that day.

"Janani Bhabhi. Did you do a pregnancy test?" Shreya asked hopefully, looking at her sister in law in worry.

"What? No!! Why would I? I am not pregnant, Shreya." Janani denied hotly. She was so sure of it. She was always careful about it.

"Why are you so sure? Did you do the test?" Shreya asked, with hands on her hips. This adamancy of Janani was starting to get on everyone’s nerves.

"I am sure because we were not trying for a baby." Janani said, making Shreya feel guilty yet again.

Shreya still remembers that day clearly. Her insecurities about her sister's child had led her to do so many negative things. And to assure her, Janani had promised never to have children of her own.

"Bhabhi, how long are you going to do this? I am really sorry for what I said back then. This guilt is eating me up. Please rethink your decision." Shreya cried in exasperation.

"It's not you Shreya. It's me. I am scared if I will ever hurt Ava or Advi in any way, even if it's not my intention, once I have a baby." Janani said earnestly and Shreya rolled her eyes at that statement.

"That's the biggest nonsense I have ever heard. You wouldn't be able to do that even if you try." Shreya argued furiously. Nobody can love the kids the way Janani does. Shreya was so sure that not even her sister could have loved Ava the way Janani does.

“I am not listening to any nonsense from you anymore. You are taking a test and that’s final.” Shreya said hotly.

The test actually turned out positive.

After ten long years of marriage, Janani has fallen pregnant.

Armaan was over the moon.

"I am so happy, love." He kissed her gently.

Janani frowned again.

"But how did that happen?" Janani asked in confusion.

"Do you want me to give another demonstration?" Armaan asked teasingly, earning a wack from his wife.

"We used protection. We always do." Janani said and Armaan sighed.

"Promise me you won't attack me if I tell you something." Armaan said softly.

"Why would I attack you?" Janani asked with a frown.

"Promise me first," Armaan demanded.

"I would never harm you, Armaan. You know that." Janani said gently.

"Good. I tampered the condoms." Armaan said and she looked at him in horror.

"You what?" Janani shrieked in horror.

"I was fed up waiting for you to come into your senses. So I finally took it upon myself to do the needful." Armaan said coolly.

"How could you, Maan. You know why I was reluctant." Janani asked.

"And that's a bucket load of rubbish. Now smile, or else she would think that you don't like her." Armaan said, rubbing Janani's flat tummy.

"That could be him. And I love him." Janani said softly, already loving the little growth in her.

"I want a baby girl. My little Janani." Armaan said kissing her tummy.

*****

A little over seven months later!

Janani was due any day now.

Khanna had gone to school to pick up a thirteen year old Ava and eleven year old Advi along with Aadesh and Shreya's daughter, Ishitha.

Once they were in the car,

"Khanna uncle. Please take us to a baby shop." Ava said excitedly.

Last night they both had broken their piggy bank and now they have their own money and they are going to buy something for the baby.

"Go faster, Khanna uncle." Advi urged.

Inside the shop, a salesgirl met the kids who were looking around the shop cluelessly.

"How can I help you?" The woman asked sweetly.

"We want a baby dress." Advi said happily.

The sales girl ushered them towards the cloth section.

"Is it a baby boy or baby girl?" The salesgirl asked.

"Boy," Advi said.

"Girl," Ava said at the same time.

"It's a boy. I want a baby brother." Advi said adamantly.

"I already have a brother. And that is one too much to handle. I don't want another one. I want a baby sister." Ava said, giving a stink eye to her brother.

They continued arguing and the sales girl looked on helplessly.

"I think I have a solution," the manager said, coming forward.

"What?" They both asked together.

"We have two in one dresses. That could be worn for both boys and girls."

And that somehow eased the tension between the siblings.

After their purchase, they got into the car and Khanna received a call from Armaan to bring the children to the hospital as Janani had gone into labour already.

Ava and Advi grinned happily at the thought of the new baby.

"It's a little girl," Armaan said, coming out of the labour room with his tiny daughter in his arms.

Ava squealed in excitement and Advi sulked, though he was happy.

Janani was later shifted to a private room and the baby was happily suckling on her momma's milk.

"Momma. Next time I want a baby brother."

!!THE END!!
