Chapter 6: Chapter 6

I was so surprised to see her. Katie was too except for Dia, who looked extremely happy. "You have a great problem, Bella. And the earlier you accept it the better for you" she said, this time sounding more serious than she was before.

I groaned. I don't have a problem. Not being able to keep a man, is not a problem. If they don't want to be kept, there is no point keeping them. I rolled my eyes. And by the way, what's she doing here?. I can't remember inviting her over. I stared at Katie, the surprise was still evident on her face. I turned to look at Diana who kept a straight face. I hissed. Why do I have a feeling Dia is the reason mom is here?. My instinct tells me, Dia called her here. My instinct doesn't lie. But why will She call her to come?. So many thoughts ran through my mind as I tried to relax and act normal, as much as I can. I decided to ignore her talk. "Good morning mom. I never knew you were coming" I said, giving her my best smile. She ignored me and sat down on the couch opposite mine. I rolled my eyes and turned to see Dia smiling mischievously.

I glared at her and she chuckled. "Welcome, mom " she greeted

Mom flashed, her best smile and I groaned. "How are you, my darling"

Dia beamed and I hissed. "I'm fine, mom"

"Come give me a hug, Diana"

She chuckled and stood up to hug mom. I scoffed and relaxed on the couch. "Whatever" I mumbled. I heard Dia chuckled and I had to raise my head. I stared at them in disbelief as they hugged each other warmed-heartedly, whispering some words to each other. I rolled my eyes.

"Good morning, mom" Katie greeted, smiling

Mom smiled, though it wasn't like Dia's. I scoffed. "How are you?"

Katie smiled back at mom. "Fine mom". I rolled my eyes. I know mom is closer to Dia than she is to Katie. She had always complained that I have a great influence on Katie. I still feel she should treat both of them alike.

"Like she treats you any better" my subconscious mind mocked. I groaned. I know my mom loves me so much. Is just that she's kind of harsh and she doesn't treat me special like my dad does. She believes my dad pampered me too much and she doesn't want to do the same. I hissed. What sort of mother does that?

"How are your parent, Kate?"

"They are fine" Katie replied

I rolled my eyes. Isn't she suppose to let my mom know it's Katie, not Kate?. "It's Katie, not Kate, mom," I said

Mom glared at me and I had to keep shut. She turned to face Dia who was sitting beside her. "You were telling me something over the phone"

I batted my lashes. My instinct was right. Dia made mom travel here. Dia beamed and I groaned. Why do I have this feeling it's about my travel to the island?. "Well," Dia began, stretching her legs. She stared at me and I groaned

"Don't tell her" I whispered

She beamed. "Bella is leaving for the Caribbean Island"

I groaned as mom widened her eyes. "To do what?"

"I got a job at one of the Caribbean universities" I answered

She gave me the I wasn't talking to you look and I had to withdraw from their conversation. "She got a job there" Dia answered

I rolled my eyes. "When did she applied for the job?"

"Three months ago, I guess"

I hissed. Three months ago my eye. Didn't I say some weeks ago?. "It's some weeks ago, Diana, not three months" Katie answered

Dia hissed. "Three months, some weeks, whatever"

I chuckled. "And she thinks that's the next time she should do? After losing a boyfriend?"

I groaned. "Mom, I have to move on with my life"

Diana chuckled. "By running away from your problem?"

I sighed. "I'm not running from my problem. I just needed time alone"

Mom scoffed. "Time?. You said time?. You've been living alone for how long now? And you still need time alone?"

I groaned. Why are they making a fuss out of nothing?. "I will just be gone for a year. It isn't like I'm going to stay there forever"

"You're not going"

I widened my eyes. "You can stop me, mom"

She folded her hands. "Well, I can"

"I think you should listen to mom," Dia said and I glared at her. She chuckled. "Hey, I was only joking". I rolled my eyes. "Mom, I think Bella is right. She needs time, but not alone though. She needs a change of location. I think you should let her go"

I stared at her. Why is she supporting that mom should let me go?. Do she have a plan or something?. "If Bella wants to go, you have to go with her"

I batted my lashes. No!!. I don't want anyone to go with me. I just want to go there and live a normal life. "No, mom. I'm not going with Dia, not even Katie"

Mom stood up. "Then you are not ready to go"

I groaned. "But, mom..."

"No, but, Bella. You either go with them or you stay back"

I watched her leave the room and I groaned.

Kira had helped me with getting my bags ready. I entered the car and headed to the airport, after saying goodbye to Kira. When I got to the airport, Katie and Diana were already waiting for me. "Hey, best" Dia cooed. I rolled my eyes but quickly gave her a nice smile.

"Hey" I cooed

"I'm going to miss you," she said hugging me

"I will miss you both" I answered

"Make sure you call, frequently," Katie said hugging me

"If you need to break some legs, you can always call me" Dia replied

I smiled. "Bella, do take care of yourself," Katie said.

I nodded and dragged my bags. They waved at me and I waved back. I realized I was going to miss them so much, especially Diana. I don't know how she was able to convince mom to let me go alone but she did it anyway. I stopped walking and ran back to hug them for the last time. "I will call you every single day"

"We too" Katie cooed

"Go, Bella. Don't make me cry" Dia said

I sighed. "Bye Dia, bye Katie"

I was directed to the staffs' quarter, a few meters away from the Departments. I had arrived at St Vincent some hours ago. A car was already waiting for me. The drive from the airport to the school lasted for an hour. I knocked at the door with the number given to me. As the door opened slowly, I sighed. A young lady popped her head out. She stared at me for a while, before stepped out fully. "Hi, you must be Bella". I nodded. "Good to see you. You should come in". I dragged one of my bags into the room, while she helped me with the other. I stared at the room, studying it. It was far smaller than my apartment back in New York. The living room had a few pieces of furniture but was neatly arranged. I sighed. It doesn't look bad. "Pardon my manners. I'm Lucy"

I smiled. "Nice to meet you, Lucy". She tried to start a conversation with me but I wasn't ready for that, so she had no option than to show me to my room. I took my bath and lay down to rest.

**

It was some minutes past 6 pm when I decided to take a stroll. I was dressed in a blue sweatshirt and sweatpants. I decided to wear my white flip-flop. Lucy wasn't in the living room or maybe she was in her room. I left the room and went down the highway. After spending about thirty minutes checking out the places and was getting bored, I decided to return to the staffs' quarter. As I walked back, someone ran past me and almost push me down. I groaned. "I'm so sorry" he cooed

I wanted to scream at him but when I saw his face, it was like the time stopped for a minute, maybe an hour. I could feel my heart did a happy snoopy dance. I couldn't stop staring at him until he flicked his fingers. I blinked back to the present. He stared at me as if wanting me to say something but when I said nothing, he wore back his headphone and walked out on me. I batted my lashes and mentally hit myself. I can't believe I got lost staring at him. "He is cute, though and kinda rude too," I thought and then chuckled

"Bella?" Someone called. I turned to see Lucy.

"Hey, Lucy"

"It's time for dinner"

I nodded and followed her. I wanted to ask if she knew him but I decided against it. It's better I find out myself or just let him be.
