Hailey Anderson

"Mikeyyyyy.” I squealed as I entered his room with a plastic bag full of snacks and mushroom soup for him.

"You're late.”

"I bought his first grumpy." I pointed at the mushroom soup and his face lighted up. I prepared it for him and let him eat.

"What did you do until you get sick?" I asked.

"I can’t sleep these days and stress come to me a lot lately." He said and I smacked his head, he groaned in pain.

"That's because your stupid head." He glared at me and I chuckled.

"Why are you wearing such a nice clothes?" He asked as he pointed at my clothes.

"I have to look good to come here bastard." I said and he narrowed his eyes to me.

"What?"

"You're lying.. I saw the article this morning." He stated and I remembered about the news this morning. I sighed.

"Let's don't talk about Luke.”

"What happen? Did he hurt you again?" He asked in an angry tone and I just looked at him. He raised his eyebrows and gave me a 'what are you looking at?' look.

"Nothing.”

"Lying again." He said and I just sighed. Suddenly my phone rang, I took it out from my bag and it's Luke. I rejected it and put it on mute.

"It's Luke, isn't it?" He asked.

"Let's don't talk about him." I said and he nodded.

"Let's watch The Avengers." He suggested and I smiled nodding.

"Okay." I nodded. I sat beside him on the bed and watched the Avengers. My body’s here with Michael but my mind is not here. It's on Luke.

I'm still thinking how selfish he is and how mean he is to me. I still can't believe it. Without me knowing tears came out from my eyes.

"Can you stop thinking about that asshole?" Suddenly Michael said and I turned to him. He wiped my tears and looked into my eyes.

"Can you stop liking him? He's hurting you." He said and I just don't know how to answer that.

"What did he do this time?" He asked and I don't want to talk about it. I shook my head but still tears kept coming out from my eyes.

"Can you stop looking at him and start look at me?" He asked in a really slow tone. I looked at him disbelief.

"I like you Hailey.. I love you to be exact since I met you. I tried everything for you but you never notice me or look at me.” My eyes widen as he said that and I was speechless. Luke was right.. Michael likes me.

"I can't stand to see that guy hurting you, it broke me too to see you cry." He held my hand and I can feel his body temperature. He's sick.. he supposed to take a rest not having this type of conversation.

"It's been years Hailey but you never look at me.. you only see me as your bestfriend and nothing more but I always set my eyes on you and want something more." He said as he wiped my tears.

"Be my girlfriend? I promise you I'll make you happy! I will give anything you want. I will do anything for you! I will never hurt you Hailey.. I won't." He said seriously and I never see the serious side of him before. He loves to joke around a lot.

"Michael.. I- I onl-"

"You only see me as your bestfriend.. nothing more." He cut me and I sighed. I felt sorry for him and how come I didn't notice this? If I know maybe I can try to learn to like him.

"Why didn't you tell me this long time ago?" I asked.

"Because I don't want you to like me because I like you first. I want you to see me as a man that can protect you, be there for you when you need me. I don't want to declare that, I know you Hailey.” He caressed my cheek.

"I know what will you do if I confess to you.. you will try to like me and not hurting my feelings." He continued and he's right.

"Michael.. now my heart is hurting.” I said honestly.

"I know.. I just can't stand this anymore. I need to let it out from my chest too. I’m not asking you to like me or anything Hailey." He smiled and stroke my hair. Why can't Luke be like him?

"I was going on a date with Luke when you called, I immediately answered before he can take my phone away from me. We fought." I said honestly as I looked down to my fingers.

"I told that you're important to me and you need me but he doesn't let me because he knows you love me." I stated and looked up to him.

"Guys instinct.. I can't blame him." Michael said and I felt bad for him. I put my hand on his forehead, he's still burning. I walked to take my bag because I have a medicine there. I looked at my phone and there's 33 missed call from Luke.

"Here." I gave him the medicine and a glass of water.

"He bought you on that charity event right?" He suddenly asked after taking the medicine.

"How did you know?"

"I was one of the bidders but via my friend, he told me that you're there." My eyes widen and he smiled.

"He likes you, Hailey." He suddenly stated.

"You're on his side now." I glared and he chuckled.

"A guy like him buried himself to work, never experience things called love. They have a rough past Hailey, they never experience what love is." I looked at him not understanding.

"I have a friend who got into the same highschool as them, he saw them from scratch until they now, Hailey. I'm not saying this for you to go back to him. I don't even willing to let you go but.. I saw how you look at him Hailey." How can you be so kind Michael? Why I don't fall for you? Why didn't I notice your feelings.

"I think I'm done with him.”

“He's Luke Hastington, Hailey. He might be a jerk, asshole and a bastard but.. he's ambitious, just like you.”

"He's the one who said 'If you get out from this car and go to him, we're done', he's the one who say that Mike.” I tried to hold my anger.

"You might want to see that." He suddenly pointed at his TV. Michael has a CCTV all over his house. I saw Luke's car and Luke was standing on the door pressing the bell continuously.

"Unbelievable.” I mumbled.

"You might wanna go downstairs before he broke my door. Please lock the door, I'll go to sleep. Thanks Hailey.” He smiled and kissed my forehead.

I looked at his CCTV cam blankly.
