Chapter 36: Chapter 36
MIA
Before I could even reply, Noah was mind linked. Once he focused on me he said, "We have to leave, there are rogues gathering at the northern boarder. Take Keith and go back to the pack."
Noah immediately shifts into his wolf and runs into the wolf. I look at Kieth and sees he's staring in concern. "Whats happening Mia?"
I get up and rush to Kieth, "We have to go back to the pack, Kieth. Come on." I grab a hold of his hand and walk back to the pack.
"Where did Father go?" He asked.
"There was an emergency and he had to leave." Kieth nodded in understanding.
When we finally walked back, it started to snow again. I sighed, when is this gonna stop? I saw the other kids playing the snow and creating snowballs.
Kieth's eyes grew light with excitement. He looked up at me, "Can I please go to and play." I looked up at the kids playing. I wasn't sure if it was safe enough to be playing like this outside in the open.
I looked back down, "Mind link your father and ask."
Kieth nodded his head. He closed his eyes and started to concentrate. I couldn't help, but smirk at him. He looked so cute trying to focus with his eyes closed. Adorable little kid he is.
Once he opened his eyes he looked straight up at me, "He said it was okay as long as you were there."
I nodded my head, "Okay, let's go play then."
I walked to the kids while Kieth was running towards them. I stood there while watching the kids play in the snow. They all looked so cute. Their faces were pale, but their cheeks and noses were red from the cold. They were having a snowball fight. They really wanted me to play, but I said that I would set it out for this round. After they got bored of playing snowballs, they flopped into the snow making snow angels and were complaining about what else they should do now.
"Why don't we slide down the snowy hill!" One of the kids exclaimed. All of them yelled out in agreement and were standing up, getting ready to slide. One of the boys ran off to get a big tray to slide down.
I frowned. All of this had become quite familiar. Maybe because I did it when I was little. I couldn't help, but feel this tugging at the back of my mind like I've been here before, playing with the same kids, playing the same game, and sliding down the same hill. But something happened, or is going to happen maybe. But I couldn't remember whether it was good or bad? I was so confused.
The little boy came back with a big tray and all of the children jumped in excitement. He jumped on it and was the first to slide down the hill. All the kids began to argue about who was going next. As each kid slid down one by one, my heart started to beat fast in a panic and I didn't know why. My head started to hurt too. Why do I feel like this.
Kieth ended up jumping on the Slide. He looked back at me and smiled. "Come slide down after me Mia!" He shouted. Then he disappeared down the hill.
Once one of the kids gave the tray to me, I sat down on it. I tucked Kieth's jacket under my shirt to make sure no snow would wet it. I started to feel myself sliding down the hill. As I went faster and faster, I couldn't help, but laugh because of the adrenaline of the speed. Once I stood up at the bottom, all the kids were cheering for me.
"You were so good Mia!" Kieth said.
I laughed because I don't know how you cannot be good at sliding a slid on snow, it's something you are bad at.
"Thank you Kieth."
"Hey who's that? Is that the guards?" One of the kids said. I looked and saw they were staring at the tree line of the eastern boarder. Wolves appears and were slowly making their way closer to us. They weren't walking in a free manner. They were crouched down and were stealthy as if they were trying to not be noticed by the others. Rogues. They saw that we noticed them and their speed started to pick up. My blood went cold.
"Run!" I screamed. The kids all started to yell out in fright. I picked up two of the little girls in each arm and ran towards the pack house. I looked around to make sure all of the kids were together, but I felt like fainting when I didn't see Kieth. I put the little girls down. I saw Xavier at the door, his eyes wide.
"Xavier! Take the little girls, tell your father there are rogues on the east side!" I shouted. He nodded his head. He came running and held both of the little girls hands and ran towards the pack house.
I turned around and saw the rogues sprinting towards Kieth who was just standing there. He was too scared to move. I could hear him whimpering in fear. I felt an instinct kick in. I look at Kieth and I will do anything to make sure he is okay and that he is safe.
I sprint towards Kieth. On the way I shift into my creamy wolf. The rogues were running faster and faster, trying to get to kieth first, like a competition. I sprinted to my son. I leaped in front of him just as the rogues arrived. They stood there waiting for me to do something. I gently pushed Kieth towards the pack house with the side of my body, but I never let them out of my sight. I snarled at them, making sure they knew that they were unwanted here. One stepped forward and I growled in warning.
I quickly turned to Kieth and growled him. He knew I wanted him to leave. He snapped out of his daze of fear and sprinted the opposite way.
I turned back at the rogues just as one lunged me. I lunged up to meet him in his challenge. We both had our teeth bare as we sunk them into each other's flesh. We landed on the ground. I pushed him off of me and I bit into his neck, he whimpered in pain which gave me great satisfaction. How dare they try and hurt Kieth!
But another rogue jumped on my back and bit into the back of my neck. I yelped. Another rogue came and bit into my leg, forcing me to collapse with all of them on top of me. They restrained me with their teeth. They ended up dragging my body away from the pack. I howled as loud as I could, as a beacon of help to the others. Hopefully they heard me. I slowly felt myself drift off into unconsciousness as they pulled with their teeth in the cold snow.
When I opened my eyes from my darkness. I didn't recognize where I was. I looked up and all of them shifted into human form. I closed my eyes not wanting to see their nudity. Once I heard them finish putting on shorts I opened my eyes.
One of them, which I am assuming is the leader of their little group stood in front of my wolf.
"Shift." He growled. As soon as he said, I knew exactly who he was. He was the guy that poisoned me in the woods. He looked freaky.
I did as he commanded. I shifted. I covered my self with my arms and looked up at him with my eyes filled with defiance. At least I still had my stretched out jumper on. As soon as he saw me, his eyes widen in rage.
He turned to one of the other men and took him roughly by the neck, "You said that this one was the Alpha's mate!"
The man's eyes widen in fear, "I-I-I'm sorry. I thought she was. She had the baby bump!"
Baby bump? I realized that when I put Kieth's jacket under my clothes, it probably did make me looked kinda pregnant.
"Well she isn't the one you pathetic little mutt." The leader sighed and looked at me, "We'll just have to kill her."
I felt my heart stop. No. I saw him approach me. I need to think of something quick. I am too weak to shift into a wolf. I need to do something! What else can I do!
Then an idea struck my mind like lightning.
I quickly stood up, not even noticing the wounds gushing with blood, "You don't want to do that."
He stopped and frowned, "Why not?"
I stood up straight and had my shoulders back in confidence. Confidence is key in these situations.
"Because I am a wolf witch."
He scoffed, "Impossible. There is no such thing."
Shit, "Yes there is. My mother was a witch and my father a wolf."
He rolled his eyes and continued to come towards me, "Sure."
"Don't come any closer! I don't want to have to hurt you. And I will if you come near me." I growled.
The man crossed his arms over his chest, "What will you do huh?"
"I...will...Burn you! Alive!"
He looked at me. He seemed entertained by my facade. "Prove it then."
Double shit, "Come near me and maybe you'll find out."
I felt around my jumper pockets. Please let it still be there. I felt around and immedtiatly felt the stinging burn from it. I had a rare herb in my pocket. It burns you at the contact of skin. It's called the firecracker. It literally was like fire, but in herb form. It can burn the skin easily.
The man came near me with a smirk. I started to make a chant on the spot. I don't even know what I am saying right now, but it sounded mystical.
The man ended up stopping and he actually looked kind of cautious. I take this as a sign of encouragement. I secretly take the herbs in my hand. I have to admit, It was burning like hell. But I had to do it. I went up close to the rogue. He seemed kind of distracted with my face. I was up close to his face. And he leaned in slightly as if he wanted to kiss me. But I smeared the herb on his arm. His eyes widened and he yelled in pain. I could see the burn mark on his skin.
He looked at his arm in shock. He looked back at me and I could see the fear in his eyes.
"Do you believe me now Rogue!" I shouted. All of them took a step back. "Run away and never return. Or I will burn you all to hell!"
They yelled out in fright. But thankfully they quickly shifted and scurried off back to wherever they came from.
As soon as they were out of sight, I collapsed into the snow. All the wounds on my body began to ache and sting. I guess I wasn't really thining about it when I was acting. But now that they're gone, I feel it full force.
I groaned in pain. I looked up to the sky and see that the snow was becoming colder and it was snowing way harder. There's a storm coming. I needed to get back to the pack. On all fours I try to crawl my way back to Noah. At least Kieth is safe.
