Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Emilia’s POV
“Emy, Emy…,” Jenna’s voice sounded as she snapped her fingers in front of me.
I gazed at her with a disoriented expression. I couldn’t stop my mind from veering back to Nivaan. The way he fought with those men… No, he didn’t fight with them. He beat them up.
“What are you thinking about, Emilia? If you frown so much you will get permanent freckles on your forehead….” Jenna interrupted my thoughts again.
A deep sigh escaped my lips as I said in a dreamy voice, “I was thinking about Nivaan…. The way he defeated those men was exceptional… I haven’t seen anyone fight with so much precision; leave alone a blind man…”
Jenna’s mouth hung open. She climbed onto the bed beside me. She grasped my shoulders and said with a dumbfounded expression, “Don’t tell me that you want to be with him….”
I could hear the accusation in her voice but I didn’t care. I shrugged her hands off my shoulder, “I do… so what? He is my mate.”
Jenna let out a dry laugh and said in an incredulous voice, “You got to be kidding me, Emilia! You both can’t stand the sight of each other. Until yesterday you were ready to do anything to teach him a lesson.” Shaking her head, she added, “What changed suddenly?”
“He saved me,” I said simply. Nivaan had saved me from those goons. Now, I wanted to spend my life with him. What was so difficult to understand about it?
“Emy! My love, Listen to me carefully… this is never gonna work…,” Jenna tried to explain, squeezing my hand gently.
I crossed my arms in front of my chest and challenged, ‘Why not?”
Jenna’s face scrunched in disgust as she said, “Have you seen his clothes? He looks no better than a beggar.”
“I will buy new clothes for him.”
“He might be homeless. Where will he keep you?”
“He can stay with me in this mansion. Why do I have to go anywhere?”
“You don’t even know what his designation is? He might be an Omega.”
I bit my bottom lip. My eyes twinkled as I replied with a meaningful smirk, “That would be interesting….”
Jenna tore her hair and snapped, “Why are you behaving like a lovesick fool?”
My lips pressed in a thin line and my face flushed, “Cause, I am in love….”
Seeing that I wasn’t going to change my mind, she let out a defeated sigh. Her expression turned serious and she said in a sincere voice, “Since you have already decided. I will support you.”
I was relieved to get her support. Now, I just had to find a way to make Nivaan fall for me. I let out a squeal and pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. “You have no idea how happy I am. Thanks for understanding me, Jenna! You are my bestest friend….”
“Now, now…. Don’t get all smutty,” Jenna grumbled, pulling away. This made me giggle. Wasn’t this usually her dialogue?
Just then my mobile phone buzzed and a notification flashed on its screen. My heart skipped a beat when she saw the sender’s name, Nivaan.
My heart had started fluttering by the time I opened the message. I started reading in an excited voice, “Meet me at CoffeeRocks….” But my voice trailed off as I read the rest of the sentence. The color drained from my face and the phone dropped from my hands. I staggered and grasped the headrest for support. This couldn’t be happening.
“What happened, Emy?”
She asked but I couldn’t bring myself to speak those words. I stared into the space, still trying to resister Nivaan’s message.
“Emy, Please say something,….You have got me worried,” Jenna said in a panicked voice as she picked up the phone and switched it on again.
My voice was barely a whisper as I replied, “Nivaan wants me to reject him…. What should I do now?”
Jenna squared her shoulders and said, “Just tell him that you want to give this bond a chance….”
My fingers clenched the hem of my skirt and I said in a choked voice, “I can’t do that, Jenna…. I have never done that… Don’t men always confess first? What will everyone say if they find out that Emilia Ryanwood confessed to a blind beggar….” I paused for a few moments before continuing, “If Nivaan confesses to me… I can pretend to be the gracious one and accept his proposal….”
“Then you will have to impress him…. make him fall for you,” Jenna said, her eyes lit up as she pulled me closer and whispered something into my ears.
My face flushed and I chewed my bottom lip, “Are you sure this will work?”
“One hundred percent…. You are so beautiful… Plus you are his mate… I am sure he won’t be able to restrain himself….”
“But, Jenna… you are forgetting… He is blind…. How will he know that I am gorgeous?”
Deep lines formed on Jenna’s forehead as she thought for some time. She lifted my hand to her lips and said in a seductive voice, “Show him through your actions… He can’t see but he can feel…”
“You are right,” I said in an excited voice as I took my phone from Jenna. My lips spread into a wide smile as I typed, ‘See you at sharp 6.00 pm….’
I kept staring at her phone until I got a reply. It was just a single word ‘okay’ but that was enough to put me in a good mood.
I skipped to the wardrobe and threw the doors open. I took out a blue cocktail number and placed it against my bosom. “How does this look?”
I looked at myself in the full-length mirror and answered my own question, “Nah! This seems so bland….”
I continued to take out one dress after another and within a few minutes, a huge heap of clothes had formed near my feet.
When Jenna couldn’t take it anymore, she interrupted, “Why go into so much trouble? Just wear anything…. He can’t see you anyway….”
I didn’t even mind Jenna’s tone. I just took out a peach dress and said, “Like you said earlier… He can feel everything…” My eyes lit up as a brilliant idea struck me.
Taking out a blue silk dress, I said in a cheerful voice, “This one is perfect…. He will be able to feel my curves if we decide to dance….”
Jenna got to her feet and tried to talk to me once again, “I think you should halt and think about this once more. Some actions can never be undone….”
“I don’t want to undo anything, Jenna. Everything is going to be perfect… Once he proposes to me, I will introduce him to my father. He will look into everything else. After all, I am his only daughter. We might even come up with a way to restore his eyesight….," I continued to blabber with a dreamy expression. I could picture myself living a happy and fulfilling life with Nivaan.
Throwing the dress at Jenna, I added, “Press this dress for me, will you? I am going to shower…”
“But, Emy….”
I didn’t wait for Jenna to finish talking. I darted into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I closed my eyes reveling in the sensation of the cool water cascading over me. My heart was pounding crazily. The excitement, the butterflies; it was unlike anything I had ever felt before. I couldn’t wait to start a new life with Nivaan.
