Chapter 13: Chapter 13

The next morning, Lily woke up and took shower then put on a light pink wrapped bottom sleeveless dress with matching high heels and wrist watch. Her upper back length hairs were outwardly curled and let down with a few strands tucked behind her left ear.

Grabbing her Chanel bag, she went downstairs to have breakfast. "Morning, grandfather", she greeted and sat on the first chair to the right. The old man nodded and greeted her back.

"There is someone who wants to see you, Xiao Lily", the old man said. Lily gave a confused look.

"Xiao Li, my child", came an old feminine voice that made Lily turn back towards the door. A hint of warmth radiated from Lily's face when she looked at the old woman in her early sixties.

The old woman had beautiful facial features and almond shaped eyes similar to that of Lily. Her black long hairs were tied in an elegant bun. She looked elegant and classy wearing a long dark green cheongsam with slits till below knee length on both sides.

She was none other than the Old Madam of Shengs.

"Grandmother", Lily called out and went to Old Madam. The old madam hugged her granddaughter and kissed her forehead while patting her head. Lily held her hand and supported her till the dining table.

The old madam had been in China for the past few months for some of her work. She is a doctor who majored in Chinese medicines. She is one of the most sort doctor not just in China but around the globe for she is not only popular but also hard to get.

Getting appointment of Old Madam Sheng for even the richest man is the toughest task.

"Grandmother, how have you been?", Lily asked as she sat on her chair accross the old madam. The old madam smiled and answered in a gentle tone, "I was very well. You have gotten more beautiful from the last time, my child."

Lily gave a small almost invisible smile and asked, "Didn't you say you would be returning next month?" The old madam nodded while the servant served her and the old man brewed Longjing tea.

"I planned on staying for some more days in Shanghai but since your elder brother's birthday is coming up, they called me back", the old madam spoke like she was too annoyed as she thought of the constant calls she was getting.

Lily shook her head as she took a sip of her unsweetened black coffee. "Well-" As the old man started he was cut off when the old Madam spoke again.

"Xiao Lily, did you get the things I asked you to?", Old madam asked to which Lily nodded. The two continued talking about their business ignoring the Old Master completely which annoyed him.

The old man cleared him throat twice gathering up attention of both the ladies.

"Xiao Lily, you told me you want to join the University again?", asked the old Master while he received a scoff from the Old Madam for cutting them off. "Yes, grandfather. I want to study psychology. I'll work while studying."

"As you wish", the old man said and picked up his chopstick.

"Today, everyone will be gathering at the second house for dinner and there will be a guest too. I want you both to be present there by 6", said old Madam in a firm tone leaving no space for arguement.

If it wasn't for her, the family wouldn't even see each other every few months and would be blood thirsty for each other.

When Lily was abandoned by her parents, she almost disowned her first son and daughter-in-law but stayed calm for she knew it would create more mess. She raised the little Lily with the old man but always felt bad for the child.

As Lily grew up, in the past few years she saw how Lily changed and turned into a whole new person. She was too happy to see her granddaughter grow so independent and strong but she still felt bad.

As she looked at Lily sitting across the table with her back straight and the confident posture, she felt something was weirdly different in the child but did not mind.

...

At Sheng Corporation,

Lily got down from the black Roll Royce and walked inside the company confidently. She was stopped by security and the receptionist as she was walking towards the elevator.

As Lily stopped and turned, every person who was in the lobby stared at her like she was some goddess. Her skin was so smooth and flawless and her hairs were short but made everyone wonder which products she used.

"Ma'am, you can't walk in just like this", the receptionist said as she looked at Lily from top to bottom. Lily did not mind as she hadn't visited office even once in the past years so she understood they didn't recognise her.

"I am Lily Sheng, the new financial advisor of Sheng Corporation", Lily said in a calm tone.

Hearing her name, everyone's eyes popped out.

Didn't the articles say the youngest daughter of the Shengs was too ugly, rebellious and was good for nothing?

As everyone eyed her from top to bottom, they found her too perfect to be ugly and good for nothing. Just by looking at her, anyone would say she was well educated and calm to be rebellious.

In the past, as Lily never made much public appearance due to her family who never allowed her and her anger issues, she was framed by her parents and siblings whenever she was allowed to be in front of cameras.

But now when everyone was witnessing her presence, they found her too good to be what those reports told. Her aura was something no one could ignore which was so powerful and full of elegance and dominance.

Though people were looking at her but none dared look straight into her eyes which were alluring beautiful yet intimidating at the same time.

The receptionist looked at Lily but Lily did not seem to want to waste anymore of her time so she turned and walked to the private elevator that only her grandfather and grandmother used. No one else even from her family was allowed to use the elevator.

"Good morning, young miss", greeted her grandfather's assistant with a bow. Lily gave a small nod and greeted back. "You didn't go with grandfather for the meeting?", Lily asked as she entered her office with the middle aged man.

"President told me to help you out for today", the man said politely to which Lily gave a nod. The man was accustomed to her indifferent and quiet nature so he did not mind that where everyone else respected him so much, she did not even acknowledge him properly.

Almost everyone close to the old Master and Old Madam were used to see Lily like in the past few years. They all knew she was quiet but she wasn't someone to look down upon a person even though she was the only one to be pampered by the elder Shengs.

"What should I get you? Coffee? Juice? Or something else, young miss?", the man asked as Lily sat on the chair. Lily kept her bag on the desk and answered, "Files of the upcoming projects and the past projects. I heard the company had been in loss for some months. I would like to see what's going wrong."

The man was astonished but quickly recovered and brought all the files for her.

Lily went through all the files the entire day and made many markings and wrote some numbers on every file on the last page. She was so dedicated to work that she did not even bother to have lunch or snacks and just stayed on water and some juice.

By evening, her mobile rang but she did not bother to pick it up. When it kept ringing, she put it on silent and continued working. After twenty minutes, she heard a knock on the door and entered her grandfather's assistant.

"Young miss, Old Madam had been calling you for the past half an hour. But you didn't pick up so she called me", the man informed her. "Oh no. I forgot", she scolded herself as she looked at the time which should it was 5:20 now.

"Uncle, send the rest of the files to the mansion and get the car ready. I've to rush to the second mansion", she said as she put on her heels and picked her purse.

Not bothering to even look at herself in the mirror or check her hairs which were messily tied in half ponytail, she got into her car and asked the driver to drive her quickly to the second mansion.
