Shivansh's pov

" Hello, Advesh. What did you find?" I asked leaning a little on the balcony door.

He replied," I have talked with his neighbours, colleagues and a few friends. Everyone said that he is a good person. I didn't find anything negative about him. Araav Tripathi is a reputable doctor."

" Then, why did his wife divorce him?" I asked with curiosity.

Advesh responded taking a breath," He found out that his wife was cheating behind his back. That's why he divorced her."

Hearing his words, I recalled my situation when I thought that Niyati cheated on me. I doubted a pure person like her and messed up everything. What an asshole I was!

" Are you sure that she cheated on him?" I asked hesitatingly and he answered that he is sure about it.

After talking to him for some time, I cut the call and sat on the nearby couch. Resting my head on the headrest I closed my eyes and automatically Niyati's face reflected in front of me.

You must be wondering why I am looking through Araav Tripathi's bio. Well, I don't want Niyati to repeat the same mistake. First, she chose a coward like me as her life partner and then Ranvijay who was a criminal. Obviously, she doesn't need my council but still, I want her well being.

I want her to be happy with someone who will give her proper respect and who won't be a coward like me. I want her to move on because she deserves to be happy. I want her to forget a black chapter like me and have a happy life.

Won't it hurt me to see her with someone else? Yes, it will hurt. My heart will bleed and I will die every day seeing her with another man. I will get jealous but I won't show it on my face. What can I do now? Nothing. The damage is already done.

I deserve to be punished like that for hurting Niyati's feelings. It's Karma. I am paying for my misdeeds. Self-respect is the most precious jewel for any human being and that's what I hurt in Niyati. I violated her dignity and self-respect and God is now punishing me.

Right now, I just want her happiness. Nothing else. If her happiness lies with another person then I should be happy about that. If she moves on then I should congratulate her. I won't be a disturbance in her life anymore.

At Night

Author's pov

Shivansh, Niyati and Neela were having their lunch. Niyati was feeding Neela who was playing with a doll sitting in Shivansh's lap. Shivansh was silent completely as well as Niyati. There was an awkwardness between them and they can feel it clearly.

" I don't want to eat anymore," Neela whined taking away her face in another direction and Niyati got irritated.

Niyati mumbled annoyingly," Now her tantrums!!"

Niyati was tired after all the exhausting work in the office and wants to sleep right now. But, Neela's tantrums were making her irritated. Niyati was always disturbed by Neela's tantrums regarding foods.

Noticing Niyati's irritated face, Shivansh said patting Neela's head affectionately," Listen to your mommy. If you don't eat properly then how you will get stronger like Papa."

After a lot of pampering words finally, Shivansh managed to convince Neela and Niyati finished feeding her little munchkin. Niyati was a little touched noticing Shivansh's supporting side.

" Tom & Jerry!!!" Neela screamed excitedly hearing the opening theme of the Tom & Jerry cartoon and ran towards the living room.

No sooner had Neela left the dining room than Niyati started cleaning the table. She put the leftovers in the freezer and started collecting the dishes to take them to the kitchen for washing purposes.

" Let me help you," Shivansh said and tried to take the plates in his hand but she refused.

She replied coldly," I can do my work. Thanks for the offer."

" Don't be so rude. Let me..........." Shivansh couldn't complete his sentence Niyati shouted at him," Didn't you hear what I just said."

Shivansh didn't say anything further and Niyati walked inside the kitchen. After thinking for some time Shivansh followed her into the kitchen. He doesn't know why she is behaving so rudely with him suddenly. For the last few days, everything was fine between them than what happened suddenly.

" How was your date with Dr Tripathi?" Shivansh questioned Niyati with a little bit of hesitation.

Niyati answered sternly," I rejected him politely. Right now I am not ready for any kind of relationship. My only concern is Neela. Nothing else."

Shivansh was taken aback by her bold answer. It would be a lie if he says that he isn't happy that she rejected Dr Tripathi. Yes, he was happy and at the same time, he was upset and confused. He doesn't want to see her living her life in loneliness. He wants her to move on having a supporting partner beside her.

" Why? I was informed that Dr Tripathi is a nice guy. I have looked through his bio. He will be a perfect choice for you," Shivansh said and Niyati turned at him with burning eyes.

She questioned him angrily," Who told you to look through his bio? Did I permit you to pity me or did I give you the responsibility to find me another man?"

" It's not pity. I want you to be happy," Shivansh answered genuinely but Niyati's anger reached its peak.

She started asking pushing away him a little," What do you want to prove by doing all this? Huh!!"

" You are misunderstanding me," Shivansh said balancing himself from falling.

Niyati shouted letting out a mocking smile," What did you think that by doing all these you will earn my trust again and I will return to you? By playing the act of being a great man who is helping his ex-wife to find a new man, you will have me in your life again? What did you think? I won't understand your dirty tricks."

She insulted him because for the last few days she was very lost in everything. Her emotions were everywhere and she was confused. She was confused about Shivansh. The changes in Shivansh's behaviour wasn't unnoticed by her and that's what made her confused.

Shivansh was speechless after hearing her accusations and continued looking at her with wide eyes. He was stunned after hearing her. His intentions weren't like that.

" No matter how much you try I am not going to return to you again," She announced and left the kitchen leaving behind a shocked Shivansh.
