Chapter 77: Chapter 77

Chapter Seventy - Seven

Jasper's POV

Few days had passed since Ava and I had made our relationship official. Fortunately, It's been going great. There had not been any more confusion or misunderstanding between us. Both of us had been trying to do our best in every sense possible to make this work. All in all, things have been great recently.

We had gone on three dates already. Without any interruption. Charlotte had stopped asking me to marry her, continuing our work together professionally. Also, she had started keeping her distance from me. Which I could understand but at the same time, it made me a little sad knowing that our five year long friendship was no longer there. But I could make peace with that.

The only thing that was not going right was Daniel.

Since the last time we met, he had asked me two times about his offer. I Want to know the answer. I had just told him off the first two times. However, just today I received another message from him. Telling me to make a decision and give him a clear cut answer. This was the last time he was asking me. If I did not reply to him this time then he would make the decision for me. And that it would certainly involve Ava.

It sounded like a threat. No. It was a threat.

His words had made my blood boil. Yet, I kept calm. I felt that he was just saying these things to evoke a reaction out of me. Or certainly he was trying to put me on edge so that I would mess up in some way and not perform well in the International Textile deal. It was only two days away. If he managed to shift my focus out of this huge deal then he could snatch the opportunity right off my hands. And I would not let him do that.

Therefore, I just kept ignoring him. However, today, after I got his message. It did manage to put me on edge. This time his words sounded a little too serious. Not to mention, that it involved Ava. Which made it even more worse, so I was a little worried.

Anyway, I was going to have a meeting in a few minutes and I had just asked Ava to come into my office with the new designs that she had created. Ava had been secretly working on some new clothing styles, all the while she was working hard on the job. She had worked really hard on these designs and even the colleagues that she worked with had asked me to take a look at those designs.

So, I thought that I should.

They told me, when I went on an unexpected visit to that office, to see how the work was going. Everything was going great, by the way. I knew if people knew about our relationship then they would tell me that I was giving Ava this chance because of our relationship. However, that was not the case.

Ava and I both had come to this agreement that there won't ever be favours when it came to work. If one wanted a position then they had to earn it. It would do no good if I promoted her for no reason and a real talent lost that place. It would be unfair. She made it clear that even if she stayed in one position for a long time because she could not perform well, she would accept it.

It was for the best.

I was only giving her this chance because her colleagues and even Charlotte had mentioned to me about her work. Which was a real big deal. Therefore, I could not ignore it.

There was a knock on the door and I asked the person behind it to come in.

Ava's beautiful face that was adorned with a bright smile popped inside the room as soon as she opened the door.

I returned her smile from my own. I gestured to her to come inside, while I stood up. She walked up to me and handed me her file. I open it and flip through a few pages, seeing her sketches before I close it and place it behind me, on the table. I leaned against the table and pulled her to me with my hand around her waist.

Her breath hitched for once. I felt myself smile. She was so responsive to touch.

"Here are the files that you asked me for." She told me. Even though we both knew that none of us were thinking about the designs.

I nodded.

"Good." I whispered. And then I kissed her. She pulled back.

"Now. Don't get too distracted. You have a meeting in ten minutes." She told me. Of course, I knew that. But at the moment, I wanted nothing more than to just stay here and hold her.

I let out a sigh.

"You are right. I should not get distracted." I told her. She kissed my nose.

"You shouldn't. Anyway, I have to get back to work now. We will talk later at home. I love you." She told me. I nodded my head.

"I love you, too." She pecked my lips before she disappeared from my sight. I watched her leave. God, what did I do to deserve her? Having her by my side made me feel like the luckiest man in the world.

I felt my phone buzz. I opened up to see that it was a text from Daniel.

*Decided yet?

It asked.

My eyes moved to where Ava had disappeared. How could I give her up? Why should I give her up? It was not happening. And no matter what Daniel thought he could do, I won't give up that International Textile Deal either. I won't give up either of them. He could do whatever he wanted.

I tore my eyes from the door and began typing.

*Deal not accepted.

I wrote and hit send. Let him deal with that. In a few seconds, I received a text message.

*Fine then. I won't be responsible for the consequences ahead. You brought this all upon yourself.

The text message read. My first reaction was to get angry but then I called out on his bluff. Even if he had something up his sleeve, I would like to see it. He could not do anything.

*Good luck.

I typed and sent him the message.
