Chapter 804: Chapter 804

After Henry Sullivan left, Ivy Miller was in the room, dazed for quite a while.

On Saturday afternoon, Henry called to say he wanted to see the child, and Ivy said it was okay.

After all, she couldn’t affect the relationship between him and his daughter.

When Henry was about to arrive home, she handed the child over to the nanny and went out to the supermarket herself.

She planned to avoid him.

She roamed around the supermarket but didn’t buy anything. Over an hour later, she walked out to the entrance of the residential area. A Bentley with its door open was parked by the gates, and the man who stepped out made Ivy stop in her tracks.

She stood there looking at him, puzzled at why he’d come again. James, however, looked at her and smiled, "Miss Miller, we meet again."

Ivy frowned, "I’ve already told you, I don’t know where your wife is, so why do you keep bothering me, Mr. Yinley?"

"I think Miss Miller may have misunderstood. I’m not here to bother you. I was simply informed that Henry Sullivan came here.

It’s rare for him to get out of the military. I intend to meet him."

For a moment, Ivy was stunned. He had said that if he were to meet Henry Sullivan, it would end in mutual destruction.

"He doesn’t know where Isla Linton is either."

"That’s your opinion."

"I moved out of the house to force him to make a decision. If he really knew where Isla was, he wouldn’t have taken this long to say something."

James crossed his arms with a smile, "It seems Miss Miller may have overestimated her importance in Commander Sullivan’s heart. From my perspective, he wouldn’t betray Isla to protect you."

Ivy felt those words were truly unpleasant to hear, "James Yinley, do you really need to speak so harshly to me? Why should I listen to this from you?"

Annoyed, she started to leave, but James, still with arms crossed, said, "Are you upset because you think the same way? Don’t you find yourself just as pitiful as me?"

She stopped and turned to look at him. Just as pitiful? Suddenly, a good idea came to her mind, and she smiled, crossing her arms, looking at him, "Mr. Yinley, let’s collaborate."

"Collaborate?" James raised his eyebrows, intrigued by the quirky woman’s quick-witted eyes which were clearly up to some mischief, "What kind of collaboration? Let me hear it."

With a mischievous smile, Ivy pointed to a tea shop across the road, "Buy me a cup of milk tea. Some things need to be discussed slowly to be explained clearly."

Henry Sullivan stayed at home for two hours without seeing Ivy return. As dusk approached, he realized she was avoiding him.

The nanny asked, "Commander, it’s getting late. Shouldn’t you find Ivy to come back?"

Henry handed Ivy to the nanny, "I’ll go downstairs to have a look."

"Commander, I mean, when a woman is angry, you need to coax her. You’re great in many ways, but you don’t talk enough.

Ivy is actually easy to coax. Say a few warm words, and everything will be fine."

Henry looked at the nanny and pressed his lips together. She didn’t understand the ins and outs of the situation, which is why she said this.

Ivy was not angry with him because he didn’t coax her. She was angry because he helped Isla and refused to say goodbye to the past.

The only thing he couldn’t figure out was that he had clearly said this was the last time he would help Isla, after which they would be even. But why didn’t she believe him?

"I understand," he nodded and opened the door to leave.

When Ivy and James came out of the tea shop, Ivy’s phone rang.

Seeing it was Henry calling, she answered it casually, "Hello."

"Where are you? You’ve been out for so long and haven’t come back."

"I’m out and still have some things to do. Aren’t you here to see the child? Why are you calling me?"

Hearing Ivy’s cold tone, Henry felt a bit stifled, "I wanted to see the child and also you."

"No need to see me; I’m fine. Just see the child and go home. I’ll naturally return once you’re gone."

Ivy turned her head to glance at James standing beside her, then took a few steps away and spoke to Henry on the phone, "What’s wrong with me?"

"I know you’re upset, but... it’s been many days already, isn’t it time to let it go?"

"I’m upset?" Ivy laughed wryly, "Henry Sullivan, you don’t understand me at all. If I were truly upset, I wouldn’t choose to wait for you to change in this way. I would have directly chosen to divorce you.

You’re not the only one with a personality; I have my little temper too. The reason I suppressed my temper and waited for you is because I want to give myself—and our child—a chance. I don’t want to ruin the happiness our child might have because of my immaturity.

If you really think I’m avoiding you because of this small temper, then you’re truly not worth me using this self-punishing way to wait for you."

Henry, frustrated, ran his hand through his hair, "Ivy, can’t we stop discussing our problems ? I told you, Isla is in my past. I’ll devote myself wholeheartedly to you from now on. Why do you still..."

"Because I haven’t felt your wholehearted devotion. When did ’wholehearted’ become something you express with words?

Henry, I know you’re not a frivolous person, and I hope you keep your promise. I will wait until you truly devote yourself wholeheartedly."

She hung up after speaking, and James walked over with a smile, "Does he know? How much you love him?"

Ivy turned her head to look at him. This man was unusually perceptive, "You’re pretty sharp."

"Some people are naturally slow in matters of the heart. I’ve investigated Henry Sullivan, and he seems to repeatedly miss out on love due to guilt. It’s human nature—hard to change.

He and I aren’t the same type. From the first day I saw Isla Linton, I decided to marry her. When I learned she lost her memory, I told her I was her boyfriend, and she believed it. After a few years, we naturally got married."

After James finished, he asked, "Have you told Henry Sullivan that you love him?"

Ivy shook her head, "Not yet."

"If I were you, I would tell him."

"And then what? Nothing would change. I don’t think he doesn’t already know I have feelings for him, yet he still did what he had to, didn’t he?" After speaking, Ivy walked towards the residential area, and James followed beside her, "I’ll walk you in."

Ivy shook her head, "No need." The source of this content ɪs novel(ꜰ)ire.net

They stood at the entrance, just as she was about to go in, an Audi pulled up beside them. Once the car stopped, Henry Sullivan got out, looking warily at James who stood beside Ivy.
