Chapter 67: Chapter 67

Victor was rendered helpless as he tried to make his surrogate eat something. He didn't want her to experience any sickness and according to Maverick she was weak hence he had to make sure she had something to eat

He wanted to know what exactly caused her to faint. He was told she left with Leonardo which meant his careless friend had to explain why he did something so careless when he knew the condition his surrogate was in

Sitting comfortably on the bed, Victor held his surrogate in his arms since she didn't seem to be in a position to sit on her own. It was strange how she was awake but was stuck to him. She couldn't even open her eyes

"I...don't want...it smells horrible" she mumbled and pushed Victor's hand away and the spoon fell out of his hand. For a while, she had been refusing to eat. He tried hard to make her eat but she kept shoving his hand away

"Please eat something…" this time he tried putting some food in her mouth but she ended up throwing up all over him. He was helpless as he set the plate on the tray and shoved it aside. For half an hour he had tried his level best to make her eat but she hated whatever he gave her which meant he had to do something else

"Ms. Payton, what do you want?" he asked as he tilted her head so she could look at him, and to his amazement, her eyes flickered open as she looked at him. He saw that she was trying hard to keep her eyes open

"Make it yourself...maybe it...it will taste better" she mumbled hoarsely and collapsed on his chest. Victor's eyes narrowed as he pondered over what she just said to him. It sounded ridiculous

He had her dinner made but she refused everything and now she asked him to prepare something for her. When was the last time he stepped into the kitchen? He didn't even remember and now it seemed he had to do that or the baby would be starved

"Okay" after some time of thinking he carefully laid her down on the bed and fixed her pillow beneath her head and she mumbled something and snuggled to the pillow. Victor looked at her for a while and walked out of the room. He glanced at his wristwatch and it was 9 PM

"So much for having a surrogate," he said to himself as he folded his shirt sleeves to his elbows and walked away

"Bro how is she?"Leo was the first one to ask immediately Victor walked down the stairs then Monica came running as well. The entire family was on the edge of their seats. Kyan was laying on the couch busy on his phone as if whatever was happening didn't affect him

"Vic...I'm sure that girl is just trying to…"

"Not a word.. I'll deal with both of you later...I warned you not to stress her!"Victor cut Monica off before she could even finish her sentence, his eyes and facial expression were cold and his voice sounded deadly that even Leo kept quiet. Monica shut her mouth, not daring to say anything as her head lowered to the ground. Victor seemed angry enough to murder someone hence she retreated to the back and watched as Victor headed towards the kitchen. Both Monica and Leo were surprised

This was the first time Victor was going to the kitchen. Mostly the servants did all the work and when Alisa was alive she cooked for him so what was he going to do there

"Julia...what's going on?"Monica asked Julia who walked downstairs holding the tray of food she had taken to Vivienne's room and she sighed, not sure why the lady refused to eat anything. This wasn't the first time she didn't like the food made

"Ms. Vivienne didn't eat anything...she threw up so sir...has gone to make something for her, "Julia said nervously hoping she and her team didn't get fired for failing to make something good. Leo and Monica were shocked as they looked at Julia with wide eyes. Their expression as if they didn't believe a word she said but one look at the untouched food and they knew Vivienne's pregnancy hormones had kicked in

"What rubbish...now she's going to turn Victor into her helper...how dare she!"Monica spat out bitterly and prepared to head upstairs and knock some sense into the girl who entered their lives and caused so much drama but just as she was about to go. Leo grabbed her arm stopping her from doing something so crazy

"She's pregnant...it's normal for her to get irritated with food made by others"Leo muttered seriously as he looked at Monica with sharp eyes as if telling her to stop overreacting

"This is a lie... Leo, I know this girl...I'm sure this is just her tactics to get close to Vic"Monica let out a snarl and shrugged Leo's hand away her cat-like eyes were sharp and piercing as anger boiled inside of her. She knew how girls like Vivienne were. They were capable of stooping to any level just to trap the man they want in their grasp and now she was pretending just to get Victor's attention

"She's pregnant I'm sure this is her hormones reacting...I'm certain her cravings are kicking in!" it was kyan who shouted from where he was surprisingly getting Monica and Leo's attention who looked at him for a while but he was busy playing video games

"If a 19-year-old can understand what's happening...why can't you!"Leo said not sure why Monica thought whatever was happy to Vivienne was a lie

"This is too early...I'm not a kid...it hadn't even been months"Monica stood her ground making Leo even more irritated why she failed to understand the difference between her and Vivienne's condition. She was a surrogate who needed to be taken care of properly and if Victor wasn't complaining why was she

"I don't think so...don't make me point out what happened...as painful as it may sound...you used to behave in the same way"Leo spat out angrily and walked back to the living room. Monica remained there as if rooted in place. Her anger vanished but the dislike for Vivienne was still there.

Victor was done after what felt like forever, he didn't know he was still good with what he did. Of course, he wasn't just a businessman with no skills. During his college days, he used to make his food until he was done with University and now been in the kitchen cooking for his surrogate was something he did think he would do but left with no choice he took up the challenge hoping this wasn't a mistake

"That troublemaker...there is always a huge price to pay for my services" he muttered disdainfully as he dished out the food. She was Damned to eating what he made. For a pregnant woman, he made something most normal women wouldn't like, which was her loss: some greens sautéed in olive oil, grilled vegetables, something rich in proteins, and a tahini-lemon sauce. Not sure how he made it but he added some milk to her delicacy

Victor was satisfied with his work, took off the black apron he wore and carefully set everything on the tray, and left the kitchen

"I'll take it to her"Monica rushed to Victor immediately he came out of the kitchen. She wasn't going to allow Victor to attend to Vivienne after he spent an hour or two in the kitchen. He was exhausted from his office work and now coming back he had to cook instead of resting

"Vic...you seem tired...let me give her" she added before he could say anything and tried to get the tray from him but Victor just looked at her with a blank cold expression which drilled holes if it could and walked right past her. He had to take care of his surrogate on his own. She was behaving strangely and this was just the beginning. Who knew what she would demand next from him and the thought of him having sleepless nights had him sighing as he ascended the stairs and headed straight to Vivienne's room.
