Chapter 164: Chapter 164

(Vivienne)

"Destination please?"

"United States," I said, handing her my details as well as my password. The lady looked at me for a while and continued her work

"Vacation or…"

"School" I replied without delay and the woman glanced up then shrugged. I didn't know why she did that but I didn't care as I stood there waiting for my ticket. I was lucky the plane to the US hasn't left yet. It has been an hour since I got here. I had everything ready to go but just needed to confirm the tickets and it was taking longer than I expected

"Are you okay Ms?" the lady asked, not sure why but I was fine, just a little cold. I didn't know why it was this cold now of all days. I was wearing black leggings with ankle boots as well as a long-sleeved sweater that reached up to my neck and a brown long coat to keep warm but still, I could feel the wind blowing around

"I'm fine please, "I remarked distantly, trying, by all means, to keep her off. I came to the airport early. I wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.

"Are you sure...do you want me to call the doctor...you look pale" the lady added and I was not happy. Only one look from and she stopped asking questions and focused on her work.

I stood there waiting, the line wasn't long before but now it was. I guessed people loved traveling. I glanced back and I saw some happily chatting. A couple fighting about who wanted to be first but I averted my eyes from there

"Here...please wait in the lounge," the lady said, handing me the tickets as well as my passport. I thanked her and turned around only to stop when I saw someone I didn't expect to see. I wanted to ignore her and walk away but she stopped me

"Are you running away huh?"Monica asked as she scanned me from head to toe. I had nothing to say to her. She was supposed to be happy that I was finally getting out of their lives

"You can think that way...but my services are done here...why should I stay?"I told her straight and saw a flicker of surprise in her eyes but it disappeared. As much as it hurt me to leave my child I had no choice. What guarantee did I have that if I stayed he'd love me as I did? What rights did I have to tell him the truth about what happened? I was helpless

"You look sick Vivienne plus running away after you destroyed everything?" she lashed out bitterly but I didn't care what she said. The man wasn't here right. He didn't care so what rights did I have to stay in his world

"I have no business here...I did what I was assigned to do... there's nothing for me here" with every word I said. I felt a sharp pain in my heart. Of course, everything I cherished was here. My lovely daughter whom I didn't get time to touch or tell how much I loved her and the man who meant the world to me. He showed me that I wasn't alone. Even if he was doing it for his child, I still felt safe in his arms. The times I spent with him gave me immense joy and satisfaction but I was afraid of rejection, I was able to overcome my parent's rejection in the past but I couldn't bear to hear Victor say he didn't want me

"You know he's looking for you...you won the bet...he wants you in his life," Monica said, sounding a little sarcastic but it was too late for that. I didn't belong in his world. I would never fit in as I wanted, all of it was a dream. A dream I wanted to live in but this was my reality. I had to continue my life even if I had to be so cruel as to leave my precious baby. I loved her a lot and with all my heart but she was better off with her father

"That's my flight...I have to go"I said ignoring her words and turning to walk away when

"Once you leave there's no coming back...you know this Vivienne," she said, stopping in my tracks and I nodded, biting back tears. The knot in my chest kept on twisting causing me pain but I had to be strong

"Take care of her...I'm sure she'll make everyone happy…"I turned around and said with a smile. I was doing the same thing my mom did to me but I had no choice. I had no rights over my little girl because she belonged to Victor, not me

"You'll regret this"Monica said and I turned away. I didn't want to hear anything that would make me go back to where I didn't belong hence exhaling deeply. I walked away. I left his life with nothing, the clothes I wore for the past nine months were bought by him. Everything had remained where it belonged and when I boarded the plane. My chest was empty. I left my heart back and it was hurting so much

"I love you Vic" the words I wanted to say to him left my lips as I closed my eyes shut and leaned my head back to my seat. All the lovely memories I had with him played in my head, I used to cry and feel alone but with him he made my pain and loneliness vanish. With his sweet kisses and his warm hugs. His arms I longed to fall asleep in and wake up to see his face. I left it all behind.

Victor came back to the hospital when it was nightfall. Leo joined him as well, devastated that he didn't find Vivienne.

"I'm sure she left by now," Leo said to Victor who was sitting outside the room Vivienne had been in earlier, his head lowered to his hands. He was hoping she would come back. Why did she leave and was she just hiding from him? He was going to wait there until she came back. He had something to tell her, something important he wanted to say after a long time but she was nowhere to be seem

On the other hand, Leo was busy on his phone asking his men if they found anything, and when he got information on something he exclaimed in happiness and quickly rushed to Victor who was startled as he looked up

"Airport...my trusted man told me she's at the airport"immediately he said that Victor's eyes widened in delight. He was energetic as he rose to his feet and prepared to rush to the elevator with Leo following suit, unfortunately, he came to a sudden halt when his phone vibrated. He dug through his pockets and retrieved his phone. His heart was racing fast hoping it was his Surrogate calling or messaging him to get her. He felt a cold shiver run through him as he unlocked his phone only for everything to be shattered

"What is it...let's go, "Leo said, not sure why Victor was hesitating to go to the airport and stop Vivienne from leaving but they had to stop her. Leo's eyes narrowed as he looked at the visitor. His expression had morphed into a blank one which had Leo worried and yes,

Victor just received a message but not from his Surrogate. From the bank, the money he had to pay her for carrying his child and giving birth was withdrawn. He knew only one person was allowed to withdraw that money and it was Vivienne

"Vic come on she's leaving"Leo coaxed as he grabbed Victor to drag him away but Victor stopped him

"Let her go...and make sure she doesn't come back in my life ever again," Victor said through gritted teeth. Leo saw the pain in Victor's eyes for the first time. His voice was low and carried pain that he didn't know what was happening but when he got a message from his men saying the plane Vivienne was in departed. He knew things had turned upside down as he watched Victor walk away. He looked hurt and empty Leo felt strange

"Vivienne what have you done"Leo muttered not understanding what went wrong all of a sudden. Why did she leave without saying anything?
