"I'm sure all of us will go," Brea said to other interns while I looked at the work I was given, Alexis was with Priscilla and doing some other work even if it was lunchtime. It turned out the party Mauricio was throwing was for everyone. What a show-off. I failed to understand why he was so adamant about taking Victor on. Only a brainless fool would want to challenge a man like Victor. It was obvious the VIP invitation he sent to me was to provoke me or continue pursuing me about joining his company. I already made it clear that I wanted nothing to do with him because I was happy with Victor

"It's obvious some won't go...I mean why would our rival invite us...I'm certain this is a strategy"Brea and her friends continued their discussion. It was lunchtime and all of us gathered in the large office-like lounge. Priscilla told us we could come here and discuss matters related to work. I still had to finish up my project. It turned out that a week Victor gave us all was not enough to get work done hence he extended a little and I was thankful because for the past few days he distracted me from doing anything other than spend every night with him

"Some people just don't know when to stop...I mean from seducing the boss...wait for no...she likes to play double…"I heard Brea say as she approached my desk. Wasn't it enough that she was tasting my patience. The last time I checked she was working for someone who wanted to ruin me

"I'm talking to you, Vivie...I wonder what sir sees in you...I'm sure you are...wild in…"Brea said mockingly but she didn't even get to finish her sentence when I slammed my fist on the table so hard that everyone in the room shifted their attention at me

"You should bite your tongue...this is a place of work... respect that!"I warned her with a death glare which drilled holes if it could. I was already hanging on a thin thread and preventing myself from using the power I held over her and making sure she was thrown out like a stray dog. I didn't want to do that because it wasn't for the right thing to do

"Don't shout Vivie... everyone in this office knows what's happening...you are seducing the boss just to...be favored"break said smirking at me as she glanced at the others and they had the same disdainful expression on their faces as if disgusted by me. I didn't care what others thought of me. I was always with so many problems to handle

"And why does it matter...I'm sure you are upset that...I'm the boss's favorite...or do you want to be in my shoes Brea" it was clear that Brea was trying to make me look like a slut. Victor pulled a stunt that made everyone know I was with him. And since then all the female interns had been avoiding me and giving me a bitchy look.

"You should be ashamed of yourself...first that man sent flowers...we know you are going out with multiple men just to live a luxurious life" Brea lowered her voice and said with so much anger. I wanted to laugh not sure why she was bothered about that. It was enough and I had no control over men or wanted me

"It seems you want the boss to like you...too bad he doesn't even know about your existence," I said quivering my lips upwards into a mocking smirk. I saw Brea fuming in anger. Her eyes shot nothing but fire and her hands clenched tightly.

"You…"

"You should stop crossing the line and watch your back because I can be very unforgiving" I cut her off rudely. If I didn't show her her place then she and her little accomplice would think I was weak. But no…

"Tell your little friend to stop attacking in the shadows and face me like a woman" I added just to scare her. I saw how pale white her face had turned and I knew she was affected by my words. Brea had nothing to say other than eye me like some bitch. These people didn't like being treated nicely but using the same bitchy attitude worked for them

"Which friend...I don't know what you…"

"Brea...it's pointless denying anything...if you even dare do anything which will harm the company then you'll see what I'm capable of"saying that I slammed my laptop shut. Picked up my files and stormed out of the room. I didn't even get far when I saw Alexis approaching

"Sorry Vivie I didn't find the USB drive," Alexis said shaking her head in denial. The USB drive where I stored my project was missing. This was the main reason why I asked for more time. I searched my apartment for it but it wasn't there. I thought Alexis saw it anywhere or I dropped it here unfortunately there was nothing

"Maybe I should look for it in my apartment," I said while we walked toward the reception area. It was too much. Victor already told me that the project he gave me was important to him and the company. I hated the idea of ruining that

"It's okay...I'm sure it's somewhere in your room or living room"

"I guess I'll…"I started saying but stopped when my phone chirped. I took it out of my pocket and found a message ("can we meet...I want to see you... maybe I can help") I read and it was an unknown number. I didn't know who it was but the person wrote down the address

"Is everything okay?"Alexis asked snapping me back to my senses. The address is written was familiar. I didn't know what to think but was it, Cassy. Only she knew my favorite place. A place we both used to hang out whenever we were free from work

"It's a friend... Alexis, I'll be right back...if sir asks for me...tell him I went on an errand" I said as quickly as I could and snatched her purse. Alexis wanted to protest but seeing how I was in a hurry. She nodded and I rushed towards the door. It had been three years since I saw Cassy. Years ago I asked Leo about her however he told me she left without a word. I recalled talking to her before leaving for the US and she didn't look so fine. I tried to ask her what was happening unfortunately she said some things were left unsaid and after that, I didn't hear from her.

"Vic this is just to annoy you... Mauricio is a loser...please don't go to this party"Leo said and shoved the invitation card right back on the desk. He didn't understand why Mauricio was doing this. First, he asked Vivienne to join his company. Everyone knew he was just trying to provoke Victor

"Instead of asking me that...I have a question for you" Victor said ignoring Leo's tantrums. He cared less about Mauricio. The man was a loser wanting what he couldn't afford. And Victor hated wasting time on useless things

"What is it?"Leo said narrowing his eyes and sitting down. He came to see Victor when Maverick told him about Mauricio's invitation. Victor was hesitant to say what he wanted hence he was worried. He seemed serious not like his usual self

"Your mother...the child she had...what exactly happened to it?"Victor asked not what Leo was expecting but since both had been friends since they were young Leo exhaled as he adjusted to a comfortable sitting position

"She said she...the baby died... unfortunately…"Leo couldn't even finish the sentence knowing he loathed his mother to such an extent. She didn't care even now she said it was fate that the baby died because she wouldn't have had the strength to love it like society expected her to

"When was that?"Victor asked again and Leo was a little surprised. Why was he so interested in a matter which happened years ago. Talking about it wouldn't bring his sibling back

"22 years ago...it would have been best if she let dad and I raise her...but"

"She abandoned the child at an orphanage entrance," Victor said before Leo could complete his sentence. Stunned, Leo looked up and his eyes with Victor's words. His eyes were ice cold and carried no emotions. Leo for a second thought Victor was just playing around with him. He of all people knew how delicate this was to him. Giving him false hope when he knew how much he was willing to move mountains to have his little sister back

"W...what?"

"What a mother you have... didn't she have any conscience...or remorse for something small and defenseless" Victor muttered through gritted teeth. Leo saw nothing but anger in his voice. He didn't look so please as if he was the one who was abandoned. Leo wasn't concerned about that

"D...do you know anything...did she...did she…"

"She tried to get rid of the child...get her adopted but it didn't work out. The process was far too long for her to wait hence...she dropped the baby at an orphanage"Victor said more calmly. He took his time investigating this. He was stunned to find out that what he was looking for was right under his nose. Leo was agitated and angry when victor shoved a blue file on the desk which he took out from the cabinet. Leo was hesitant to take it. His hand was trembling as he extended it to get the file. His eyes were on Victor wondering if he found out something.
