"Wow...when did you come back huh...tell me why aren't you staying at our house...how are you?"Kyan fired me with so many questions at the same time after hugging me for who knew how long. I didn't know what to say to him as he inspected my body as if looking for any injuries. I stood there helpless while I held Skylar's hand
"No no...this is a dream .. Sky, have you seen her...it's the redhead princess I told you about"Kyan exclaimed in happiness, dropping to his knees on the hard pavement and snatching Skylar's hand. My eyes widened in shock as I looked at Kyan, busy talking to Skylar and she was smiling. This was awkward so weird not sure if Kyan did tell Skylar about me
"She's the pretty one... isn't she...did you hug her...she's the other aunty I told you about"Kyan added as he tilted Skylar's head up so she could look at me and I was shattered. The soft look in my little girl's eyes was something else. My heart melted seeing Kyan saying all sorts of crazy things to Skylar which made sense
"K.Kyan...don't bother her...she's tired, let's get her home first," I said, shoving his hand away. Skylar never spoke much whenever she was with me. But when our eyes met I saw something different. More like she knew me. I recalled the first time I met. The way she was looking at me as if she knew me of some sort and if Kyan did tell her about me then I felt happy. Kyan got to his feet still smiling at me
"See she knows you...I showed her all the lovely pics when you were pregnant...the day we were teaching you how to swim...the party everything"kyan said and hugged me, this time he tightened his grip around me almost choking me when I managed to pry him off
"Okay...now that's enough hugging for one day" the kid had grown up. I couldn't believe he had a beard. He was more of a grown-up man with muscles and a lot taller. Even taller than me
"I missed you okay... Leo told me you were in the US...I wanted to come there but my brother refused, ``Kyan said as we both held Skylar's hands and led her to the car. I got off from work early, Victor was out of town as Priscilla told us hence it was easy for me to concentrate more on work and had it done before twelve. I decided to get Skylar since I was her babysitter and to my surprise, I met Kyan.
"Sweetie do you want me to lift you?"I glanced down at Skylar asking her if I could lift her. Kyan was a fool to park the car on the other side of the road away from the school entrance.
"Hmm" Skylar replied in a low soft voice and I smiled and picked her up. She fit perfectly in my arms and when she was comfortable did I relax and we proceeded to the other side of the road
"Why did you park the car out there huh?"I asked, irritated with kyan. He sent the taxi driver I came with saying he had a new ride we would use.
"Too many cars coming in and going out...this place is always busy" he replied and I understood his point seeing how many parents were coming to get their kids. The school was big and prestigious. I had to say a rich kid with a wealthy father attending the most expensive and well known school in the city
"It's good you came back...I'm sure my brother is happy"kyan said as we left the school grounds and got to the main road. It was rather quiet with cars passing around..there were two roads we had to cross, the first one then the second where kyan had his car parked. The mention of Victor didn't bring joy to my heart recalling the argument we had the previous night
"Come on...hurry up," I said when we were crossing the road. We hurried away noticing a few cars moving at high speed and once we crossed the first one and got to the pedestrian area
"My shoe auntie…"Skylar said, making us stop... Kyan glanced at Skylar and she only had one black shoe on
"Oh, she dropped it?"I said more hesitantly and looked back to where we came from
"It's there"kyan beat me to it and pointed to the little black shoes in the middle of the road
"We'll go get it," I said arching my brows at Kyan and he smiled and waited to get the shoe
"It's okay sweetie...stand here let me see"I muttered, placing her down but she didn't stop her feet on the ground but just one. The other one without a show she suspended in midair. I wanted to laugh at how cute she looked, especially with her little hands resting on my shoulders. I concentrated on her, fixing her hair and her little uniform which was a short dark blue dress with a striped blue and white and a scarf tied nicely in a ribbon with a little jacket
"You look beautiful sweetie... beautiful eyes" I complimented and she surprisingly smiled back at me. "Come here," I said and pulled her in my arms, hugging her tightly. I didn't know what was happening but
"Vivie, get out of the way!"I heard kyan shouting from afar hence I moved away from Skylar and looked over my shoulder to see what kyan was shouting about unfortunately everything happened so fast that I didn't even know where the strength came from
I grabbed Skylar and used all my strength to shield her with my body and threw myself and her out of the way and we ended up falling to the other side of the road only to hear a screeching of tires and people screaming at the driver to the driver like a human
"You bastard, how could you!" it was kyan who shouted angrily, he sounded close to us. I was still in shock as I gripped Skylar with all my strength. My heart racing rapidly that I swore tears were raining down my face
"Are you okay...did you get hurt... Sky how is she?"Kyan asked as he pried Skylar away from me but I held onto her. My sweaty hands gripping her tightly and only loosened when I heard
"I'm fine uncle Kay...blood"Skylar's little pleasant voice brought me back to reality and I quickly moved away from her and started inspecting her like a crazy person
"Sweetie, where is it hurting...show me baby please"I was agitated. Anxious as I desperately scanned her, I felt her legs. Her arms for any blood she said about but then I noticed blood on the ground only to realize
"You are hurt, Vivie...I don't know what happened but that driver did that on purpose"kyan said and when I felt my forehead, I was bleeding badly
"It's... please take her home…"I said looking towards where the car came from to where it went off too
"Vivienne let's go together..you are hurt,"kyan said but I shook my head. How can one drive so careless because Skylar and I weren't anywhere on the road for him to want to hit me with the car? I was so scared as I watched kyan drive away from there only then did I regain my senses and decided to get a taxi
"Where to?"The driver of a taxi which stopped right by me asked when I was about to open the door. I didn't know what to say to him hence I got in and settled down
"Please drive, I'll tell you in a minute, "I said, taking out my phone. I wanted to know if Alexis was done with work or if she needed my help hence I called her and waited for her to answer. I was so disturbed that I couldn't think clearly. What if the car had hit Skylar, what if my daughter got hurt. I couldn't bear it, it was eating me up to the point where my heart was twisting and turning painfully
"Where are you?"I asked as soon as Alexis answered her phone and upon hearing the noise from the background. I could guess she was in a moving car
"Great, we'll meet you at the cafe," I said, disconnecting the call and holding my phone. This was weird, I needed to find out what was happening to me. Why so much suspense and danger. In the past, I neglected this because I was pregnant and Victor ordered me not to go running around getting into trouble but this was serious
"Madam, your phone is ringing."The driver's voice brought me back to reality when I noticed the phone in my hands was vibrating. I glanced down and it was Victor calling. When I was about to accept the call it disconnected hence I prepared to call back when I received a message from him
("What's wrong...where are you...are you okay?")I read the message and my eyes narrowed not sure why he sounded worried but recalling kyan I knew he opened his big mouth and told his big brother things
("I'm okay...just concentrate on work")I replied, exhaling heavily as I leaned back in the seat, closing my eyes for a while. I waited for the man's reply but none came.. forgetting about Victor I was pushed forward so sudden when the car came to an abrupt halt
"W...what's going on?"I asked looking around, the driver didn't know how nervous I was after what happened earlier and he added more drama
"What the heck are they doing...these rich people irritate"the driver growled out ignoring my question. I shifted my gaze to where he was looking and I saw an elderly man in a dark blue suit standing by a black SUV scolding a black-haired lady.
"It's probably something can you go around," I said to him but he shook his head and honked the link loudly that I was bothered
"She...looked familiar" I muttered, narrowing my eyes because the lady being scolded looked so familiar. I got out of the car and made my way to them only to
"I'm...I'm sorry sir...I did deliver the files but…" before the lady could even finish she was slapped across the face so hard that she stumbled backward and if not for my quick response of catching her she would have fallen down
"You little slut is so lazy...now I'm late for my meeting and this is what you tell me!" the elderly man shouted angrily. He was furious that I saw
"It's okay please don't shout at her, "I said because the person he was mistreating was none other than Beverly
"Vivie...please just go he's my boss and…"Beverly tried to say nervously but I cut her off and moved her behind me and I faced the old man
"You have no right to treat her like this even if she's your employee" the man was despicable. So ridiculous as to slap a woman in public
"And who is this slut huh?" the old man with a wrinkly face said disdainfully, looking at me like I was nothing. I wondered where Beverly had been for so long. And why wasn't she working for Victor anymore?
